What would have happened to Frodo with different companions? I'll play Frodo, unless anyone else wants to, but I need more companions for him.
We'll start in the Shire with Frodo inheriting the ring at the birthday party.

Sounds like an interesting idea. It could be pretty interesting if someone completely different from Sam, like Pippin, Boromir or Legolas, went to Mordor with Frodo. Why would they become separated from the others (if that’s what happens) in the first place and follow him, apart from loyalty? Instead of Gollum, it could be… a corrupted Boromir… ^_^ You’ve got me wondering. Anyhow, you can be Frodo if you like, and I’ll be the person who ends up going to Mordor with him. Let’s have a vote for who that’ll be… (*asks Frodo toy for opinion* Faramir, do I hear you say? Strange, wonder how he comes to end up in the Fellowship…)

Btw, I’ll move this thread into the Prancing Pony, and when we actually start it, we can stick a thread in ‘Middle-earth and Beyond’ :)

OK, Faramir was sent to the Council instead of Boromir. I'll take a leading role in deciding a few more members. I think there should still be 9- "the nine Walkers against the nine Riders". Frodo is going, and Sam because they couldn't stop him if they tried. I personally want Aragorn as well. I'm guessing we have to have Gandalf as it's his appointed task to destroy the Ring. I think Elrond may try to send Merry and Pippin home though, and I'm toying with ditching Legolas and Gimli *runs out the way of all the fangirls throwing rotten tomatos* in favor of some others. Maybe Elrond himself can come, or his sons, or even Arwen. Or 4 random elves or other travellers from Rivendell. I think Bilbo is too old for another adventure, but if he wants to come I'll let him.
I'd play Frodo if you're happy playing Faramir. We'll divide up the others between us, then anyone else who wants to join can take over any of mine. I'd like Aragorn, although that's being

If I've read right, we're happy Faramir's gunna go with Frodo instead (or...Sam as well?)? He'll be sent inteada Boromir cos he volunteered and Denethor gave him a chance fer once, but we shouldn't cut all three, Pippin, legolas, Gimli out (Boromir shud go, I'm bein evil xD Not completely though. He should go and defend Osgiliath, or else there'd be no one to do that) because we should retain at least one more of the fellowship. We could always mix around the storylines. The three hunters don't need to be the three hunters. Instead, Aragorn could go to Minas Tirith instead of Gandalf.
Tis a gd idea to add others, though. I reckon that for something different, we should add a female :D I think Eowyn's kewl too, so either her or Arwen (I go for Eowyn-- Do we really want Aragorn and Arwen together through the journey...?) I think Elrond should stay in Rivendell. Elladan and/or Elrohir, definitely, they're not given much character and they're *sniffs* not loved! Bilbo is too old, so he shouldn't go. Hm, so there's...

Hullo - this sounds like fun, i've only done something like this once before, but we made up different characters but i like this idea:

Haldir - representing the Elves
Eowyn - to prove herself loyal and brave
Gimli - representing Dwarves
Fatty Bolger - although he did choose to stay behind - he should trade places with merry and/or pippin
Aragorn - or anyother ranger who can take his place to become rightful heir to the throne of Gondor!!

hmm - not sure though... i don't mind being any character when you all decide on a final list for the "new fellowship!"

Also there were: Elrond, Bilbo, Glorfindel, Erestor, Galdor, Gloin, (in the film I noticed:)Arwen, 1 or 2 more dwarves, 1 or 2 more elves,
but i cannot remember all the names... :S hmm...

Galdor was an elf - well thats the impression that I got from the books.
Gloin - He's been on one journey - with Bilbo in the Hobbit - but it may be a good idea to take him on the journey, as he'll have the experiences of his previous journey... hmmm....

your idea of voting for the characters would be best as everyones got mixed opinions for who should Journey... and who shouldn't..

Btw, I think we should still start at the Shire instead of Rivendell, for the simple reason that now it looks like only one of Merry or Pippin or neither are going, or Fatty Bolger or some other hobbit- And that changes the storyline already. If we started at Rivendell, we would assume that the storyline was unchanged up until then (or assume it was changed but untold?). So, i go for starting at the Shire.

it depends who goes i suppose... shire sounds ok to me. but so too does council of elrond... we could just have it assuming... kinda... dont mind...
having figwit would be great, apart from the fact we dont even have a real name or any sort of character. tho that might make it more fun... hmmm... so mnay choices...

How about this for getting Eowyn to Rivendell... Because she's doesn't like staying and doing nothing, she hears about the puzzling rhyme thing, because Rohan and Gondor are allies (i think. its all mixed up.) and news passes between them. Anyway, not telling anyone, she rides off to Rivendell looking for adventure. And we can explore her and Faramir's relationship, instead of Aragorn and Arwen, because i like the long distance thing between them already. i dont want to change that.

I thought it was Galdor. But i suddenly remembered. In fotr, when Frodo and Sam have just set out, they meet Elves going to the Grey Havens remember? And there was an Elf they met and talked to who was named Gildor. The Elf at the Council of Elrond was Galdor. Thats why we got mixed up, there was two of them :P

Even though i've not yet seen that rotk commentary with pj, when I first heard about Figwit, I thought it was grrrrreat :P It made me laugh.
I’m happy with the new-found fellowship :) Will we be starting at the Shire though? Cos I was thinking, if we were, that we could still have our separate story lines until the fellowship come together, (and then merge into separate storylines again when they separate) like, the characters that aren’t with the ‘main story’ travelling to rivendell can have their own story line at the same time, like Faramir could be telling of his being sent away and his journey and stuffs, and Eowyn’ll be different again. We’ll just separate them with stars or something. Hope you get that…

As for who will be who, I’d like to be the person who goes with Frodo, (weren’t you going to be both Frodo and Aragorn Becky?) and we don’t know who that’s going to be. Faramir, Eowyn, Galdor, Gloin and Sam are possibilities, but if we have Sam as is in the story, the storyline to Mordor won’t be changed… And if there aren’t enough people, I’ll be either Fredegar or Galdor as well, if no one else has wants to be either of them. I’ve ‘picked’!

well, i dont really mind... so if anyone else has choices, i'll be the left overs... but... if i had a choice id be gandalf or faramir...

It's nice to see some new faces. Btp seems to have disappeared for awhile, so I don't know whether she would mind if you took Gandalf. At the moment, I guess, your best option would be to decide whether you wanted to be Gandalf (or a different character), as we haven't heard from Btp... Unless she comes back and is against it, you might choose someone else or share it between you. Right now though, we're missing a Gandalf in the Roleplay :( so I'll leave it up to you. B)
