Title: w00dy's Interview with 40 Nick Champ "Sweetazz"
w00dy - April 6, 2006 11:14 PM (GMT)
Id like for everyone in our little fantasy community, to get to know each and everyone a little better. With that said, ive started owner interviews......This week we start off with the Champ......Sweetazz
[B]First off.....Please state your real name, age, Marital Status and Kids, if any.....Oh yeah and Location. City and state. And occupation. Feel free not to answer any info you think you dont want released.
Real Name: SweetTaz1 I like gamer tags better than real names
Age: The big 3 0
Marital Status and Kids: Married and have a 1 year old son.
Location: Suburb of Cleveland Ohio (Richmond Heights)
Occupation: Computer operator for Coca Cola Enterprises
Favorite Food?
Papa Johns Pizza. The wife can get me to do anything for a extra large pizza with pepperoni, mushroom and extra cheese.
Favorite Sports teams......?Who and Why?
Football - The New England Patriots. I wasn't a big football fan until I entered high school. Then my sophomore year we got a new coach from USC and he totally changed our defensive scheme. The defense we ran was exactly like the one the Washington Huskies were using at the time so I became a Huskies fan for a couple of years. Until that faithful day in the snow in 93 when a strong Huskies defense was torched by the greatest QB I had ever seen. That said QB was Drew Bledsoe and when he became a Patriot I became a Patriot fan. Even though Drew is long gone I still love the Patriots and will be a fan of theirs the rest of my life.
Basketball - The Cavs. Got to be a fan of the best team Cleveland has to offer.
Baseball- The Atlanta Braves. I grew up watching NWA and WCW wrestling on TBS. Braves games always came on before or after the shows and turned me into a fan.
Whats a typical day in the life of Sweetazz?
The boring life of a Married With Children
8am- Get up and take care of son.
10:30am- Son takes nap. Eat and put in 30 minutes of practice mode on Madden or take a nap.
3:00pm- Drop off son at babysitter
4pm - 2:30am- Work at Coca Cola Twinsburg
3:30am- eat and check 40 Nickel site
4am- Sleep 4 hours and do it again!
Hobbies?
I like to golf and bowl. I'm really good at bowling. I carry a 212 average this year. Golf on the other had is a work in progress. Very very very slow process.
Did you grow up playing any organized sports? if so, What and for who.
I'm like a lot of guys that play madden. The classic Al Bundys. You know the high school legends that reminisce about the 4 Touchdown performance they had at Polk High. I only played high school sports. Football (DT and Inside LB) - Track (sprints) - Wrestling (189lbs) all for my high school (Charles F. Brush High) Just for the benefit of useless knowledge. Charles Brush invented the Arc light. The night light that lights the fields. We were called the Brush Arcs.
How long have you been playing madden?
Been playing Madden since the beginning. Most people think madden started in 93 but it really started in 91 or 92 on the Commodore 64. It was a thousand dollar computer that I only played video games on. lol. On that game you could be an offensive lineman.
Can you give us all a piece of advice for playing offense in madden. And also, defense.
Offense:
Know your opponent and their personnel. If he is a pressure guy, have quick reads. If he is a zone guy be ready to be patient. Don't take unnecessary chances. If your up by 10points don't go high fly and throw a pick that could put him back in the game. If your up with 45 seconds in the half don't get greedy and turn the ball over. Play a smart game.
Defense:
Know your own personnel. Know your weaknesses as well as your strength. Pay close attention to tendencies of the other coach. Try to take away what he likes do.
Any pregame rituals? Like Drinking a beer to calm down. Or just focusing?
This might seem weird but I like to light a candle and pull out my favorite controller. I had used the same beat up controller with a sticking L2 button up until this season. This week I decided to bring it back out again!
Who is your toughest 40 Competitor and why?
BengalsOnly is my toughest competitor. Why, because we know each other in the real world and we take our games personally. Rules always get loosened up when we bang heads.
I see your on an unusual 2 game losing Skid? How do you plan to rebound?
If any one has played me over the last couple of months can tell I'm not sharp like I use to be. 2 games a night was a ritual of mine for almost 2 years. Now I get 2 or 3 games in on the weekend and that's about it. My game is based on timing and reflexes. No gimmick plays. No bunches or weird sets or anything like that. My defense is based on a helmet on a helmet philosophy. This means to stop most passes I need to react quickly to jump a pass or deliver a well timed hit stick. Without the quick reflexes more passes get complete and more points are given up.
To get this season back on track I will need to change my game up a little to compensate for my lack of timing. This might call for some more deep passes and more aggressive defense.
The Saints recently shut you out. Do you have a different gameplan or did you, just have a bad day?
The Saints played a good game and use the running game to keep me off the field. This game will be different. I will not be beat by the run this time around. I went into the game unprepared and had to fight to keep my son away from my P2 but no excuses. I look forward to our next game.
One last question. Beer? Wine? Hard Liquor? Or Virgin drink Guy?
"I drink Beer. Milk is for babies" Arnold Schwarzenegger (Pumping Iron)
Anything else you would like to add about yourself or your family?
I would just like to thank you and everyone else in the 40 Nic and Sorfa for giving me a place to enjoy Madden. I think I might have retired from online long ago without you guys.
Thanks,
SweetTaz1
Wow, Great input and i take everything you say about the offence and the defence into consideration. Also, i wasnt aware that yourself and Bengalsonly are Buds....Thats cool! But, i must admit....The only time im lighting candles, is when the wife is feeling frisky :D

Always nice to get a few tips from the champ too. kool

W00dy sorry for the dleay in response. Nice interview, I like this idea a lot. I almost think you should send a blanket "application" to all the coaches in the league, have them fill it out and then just post them up as they come in ( That would be an easy way to get your "article" out of the way when its due ;) ). Anyway, great job and keep em' comin!

Good read Taz,
I know BengalsOnly personally. Although me and Taz live near each other, We don't know each other. Bengals turned me on to Taz, Sorfa, and the 40 Nickel.
I must admit that I'm not yet on their level ( just being honest I'm not as discipline, I make too many mistakes during games) No disrespect to any one else, but I know that to me Taz and Bengals to me are similar. Bro's, they are serious with the strategies and percision! I need to practise as much as they do, and maybe I'll start winning more games against them. They both frustrate the hell out of me! Much props!!
When I grow up, I want to play like them. :)

Nice to see you in the 40 Roeb....this cat is tough don't let him fool you. ;)

nice! i dont have to pay as much attention to my dogs, but i do have to fight to keep them away from my PS2 at times :P -- best thing i did was get a wireless so at least i dont have to care about them tripping up on the wire and pulling my ps2 down. i lost NCAA ('01 i think) when they tripped up on the wire it almost pulled the ps2 off the shelf. it stayed up, but the jolt while the game was spinning scratched it up real good.
another 30 year old...thats pretty cool. you just forget sometimes a lot of these guys are just like you. i just expect most people online playing being kids. :D -- which i guess we all are lol
