Ooc: sorry I kinda feel rusty in RPing now....
Still surpressing a shudder, Kiren walked out of the infirmary. Why does even something this small have to make you feel so cold and hungry? She wondered silently as her hand reached inside a pocket to dig out a few sweets.
The sun shone brightly, and even though the gaidin had to walk around a few peddles because of last nights huge storm, one would say it was the midst of summer with weather like this.
Her hand rose and Kiren arched an annoyed eyebrow; in her hand lay but a few nuts and mostly crumbs. Bloody paperwork... it keeps me stuffing myself and cut out on my daily training... if I keep up like this I’ll be as bloody plump as a Brown Sister or a Dieb Cha!
Ragatan, her second in comand concerning most of the paporwork, had been gone for a few months now, of to some peace-thing in Tear along with Rei Valarian and whatever others there might have been, an thus all the paperwork had gotten on Kirens shoulders.
Of course the recruits were overly happy of not seeing her on the grounds anymore, though passing to Robert for punishment could be even less enjoyable, and she had had even less free time then she had in the past. She hadn’t even managed to get out into the city and have some fun with the men there; and at those moments it was all but healthy seeing tons of big, muscular men walking around all the time...
Without thinking, Kiren calmly moved to the Towers, towards the kitchen. Ragatan had returned and after a night of running over the paperwork together, he would now do the same thing again and Kiren had taken the day of. first some food, then some relaxing and tonight some feasting in the city to wake up in the afternoon tomorrow with a huge hangover The thought made her grin, and even more so as she noticed the feeling of surprise coming trough her bond... surprise at her feeling somewhat relaxed and happy most likely.
Unconsiously, Kiren moved in Cat Crossing the Courtyard, a really relaxed walk that seemed as if you were hung by your head and all other limbs just hung next to your body, completely relaxed and uncaring. Her years in the towers had given her certain automatisms, and this was one of them.
A few recruits passed her and bowed, she nodded back to acknowledge them and inwardly grinned at the obvious relief their scents gave of when they’d passed her. I should avoid stress like this.... they seem even more freaked out then they usually are she mused to herself as she nodded again to some other recruits who passed her and smelled the same way
It didn’t take her long however to reach the entwined part of the Towers where the Kitchens were, and Kiren wondered what the cooks reaction to her would be; she had Nevira bring her meals to her room for a couple of months now.
just hope there is blueberry pie and cream... a nice slice of that could defenately go in right now she thought as she politely inclined her head to a pair of Sisters passing her by.
(( Rusty? I was only gone a week and my first post back was 2 paragraphs!))
Sapphira sat in her office, still doing paperwork. By this time of day, she should have been done, but today it continued to pile on. The stack had been large to begin with, but every time she got close to finishing, it seemed that Lyla brought in a dozen more that needed to be reviewed and signed. It was days like this when she wondered what Lyla was sorting out, if this was only the most important, then the Keeper must have been overloaded with less important papers. She had never envied the former Blue sister her job, and now less than ever, Amyrlin was a position she rather liked, but she knew that Keeper would be one she would have hated. Sapphira read the last bit of another paper, and looked up at the stack still left to do. It was significantly smaller than it had started out, and Lyla had not delivered more in a little while, but Sapphira did not get her hopes up. She blinked when she felt her stomach rumble, and glanced at the clock on her mantle. Past lunchtime, and she had not eaten a bite yet today. Usually she tried to get a few reports out of the way before breakfast, but this time she had not taken a break, and now it was afternoon. She suppressed a sigh and stood, she had to eat, after all. These papers would still be waiting when she returned, but she was not anticipating being gone long. Hungry as she was, Sapphira decided that she did not need anything more than a snack, she could wait to really eat until dinner.
She adjusted her stole, and walked across her study to the door. She knew she should just send a novice to get her something, but even more than food, Sapphira wanted to be out of her office for a few moments. She desperately needed a break, even if she did not think she had earned one. Opening the door, she nodded at Lyla as she walked through the antechamber, "I'm getting something to eat, would you like anything?" The woman barely looked up from the papers she was burried in, but shook her head, motioning toward a tray of half-eaten lunch sitting next to her. Light, but the woman could be as bad as a Brown sometimes. If she was not in her paperwork, then she was quite an interesting woman, but she rarely- if ever -left her work unfinished. Sapphira nodded, knowing that Lyla would probably not see it, and stepped out into the hallway. She made her way down through the halls and stairs, giving nods to sisters she passed, and small smiles to the Accepted. She did not remember when she had started that habit, it had been a long time ago, not long after she became Amyrlin, if she remembered correctly, now it was second nature, she hardly had to think about it. Sapphira reached the ground floor of the Tower and allowed herself a smile. She felt better already, having been away from the reports for the walk of only a few minutes had refreshed her noticeably.
She made her way across the grounds at a comfortable pace, she was in no hurry to get back to that paperwork, but neither did she dally, there was no point in putting it off, it would be there when she got back, whether she took three hours or half of one. It did not take her long to get to the mess hall, though she knew it would have taken her less time if she had simply gone to the door that connected it to the White Tower. Just now, though, she decided that she did not want to go to the mess hall, it was not a meal time, so the place would not be busy, but she did not want to give herself an excuse to be gone too long. The Light knew she would take it if she had a reason, the thought of the papers waiting in her office did not make her want to hurry back. Instead, she headed toward the kitchens, it would be faster to simply pick something up than to go through the crowds of the mess hall, just because it was not a meal time did not mean the place was empty, Sapphira could not recall a time when she had seen it so. She made her way to the back door of the building that connected the Black and White Towers, the one that led to the kitchens. Sapphira noticed that she was not the only one coming for a snack, though, the Haran al'Tari was here as well. Sapphira had not seen much of the woman lately, from what she knew, Kiren had been as wrapped up in paperwork for the last few months as Sapphira was today. She could almost pity the woman, if she had not seemed so subtlely dangerous, as all Gaidin were. It did not really seem possible to pity her, why would she need it?
Sapphira did not know how the other woman felt about her, she had never really had any way of finding out. She assumed that Kiren did not like her all that much, given how Sapphira and Rialt felt about each other. Much as she disliked the Mahdi al'Tain, Sapphira harbored no ill feelings against his Warder, she was an entirely different person, one that Sapphira had no reason to dislike. She nodded respectfully at the other woman, Sapphira may have been the most powerful woman in the world, but Kiren was certainly among the top three, who was second, Sapphira was not sure. "Good day I hope, Gaidar," she said to Kiren with a small smile. She did not know what Kiren thought of her, but she hoped that it was nothing bad, and prefered to think of the woman as Haran al'Tari, with a mind of her own, rather than Rialt's Warder, taking his opinion on everything. Sapphira had never been bonded, so she did not know what the relationship between a Warder and Aes Sedai- or Asha'man -entailed, but she did not think that she had ever heard of the two agreeing on everything. After all, she had been Zekieal's partner for the majority of her life, they had been together as much as a Warder and Aes Sedai- maybe more -and they had not agreed on everything, far from it, sometimes. She had not seen the man as much since they became Amyrlin and M'hael, though, and right now, she had no idea where he was. It was still strange, after all these years, not to be together all the time, she would have to visit him sometime soon, she decided.
She shook herself mentally, clearing her mind of all the random thoughts that seemed to flicker by. She was, by no means, daydreaming as a Brown might, but dozens of extra thoughts might have a similar affect. She focused back on the leader of the Gaidin, and waited to see whether the woman had anything to say. Sapphira had not expected to see her here, but perhaps polite conversation could be found. Sapphira knew that she was trying to find some excuse not to go back to her paperwork, but she pushed that thought away, she did not think that she would talk long with the woman, but if she did, she would welcome the extended break. Perhaps if she stayed away from her office for a bit, she would be well refreshed when she got back, and would be able to make it through the rest of the papers without muttering curses that would shame a sailor under her breath. She did not want to think about that either, though, thinking about paperwork was not the way she wanted to spend her break from the dreaded stuff, even if she did not think that she really deserved the break. She needed a bite to eat, though, that much was certain. Apparently she was not the only one so caught up in her work that she forgot to eat, oh, she assumed that there were some Browns who had not eaten for weeks, but Kiren was no Brown, to deny her body the nourishment that it needed.
