Title: Poetry corner
Description: share your poems!
Valarian - August 16, 2005 07:59 PM (GMT)
Okay I'm bored, and I thought it would be nice to share some poetry. ^^ As most of my poems are not in English I'll prolly have to spend some time translating my older stuff, but here's a funny one to start. And to see if anyone's interested. :look Feel free to comment or add your own writings.
This one is written IC by my character on Glimmers. It's completely in rhyme and cadance, as I thought Yago would write. Note that it was meant as a joke.
Sometimes I dream you are a cat and I a helpless vole
Relentless are your em'rald eyes when focused on your goal
My fearful eyes they see that your hunger leads your way
I jump and run away from you to be your willing prey
As it was destined long before, you know you'll always win
And you will feast upon my flesh and lick my frail skin
My body will be ripped apart by your teeth of might
And I will find true happiness when you are satisfied

ooh I love writing poetry. i like yours Valarian-- it is funny lol :)
Mine aren't very good, and they're usually kinda depressing. (lots of the usual teenage angst...) but I'll post on up since there's such a nice little thread here....
Into the Night
I feel the call, crying out to me,
calling me to go out into the night alone
out into the night, where none can see
I will be swallowed up, and then forever gone.
Once out there, my life will be as under a veil
Where none can see my tears, my pain, my fear
I can wander blindly away from beaten trail
And go where my feet lead, though I know not the way
Perhaps there is rest, perhaps there is peace
Though you cannot tell me that here, these I can find
Away in the night, perhaps my trouble will cease,
I can finally be free from the chains of my life.
By my window I sit, looking out at the dark
Feeling deep longing to immerse myself in that world
The world of the night, where my past life leaves no mark
I feel such a deep call, could I not just go out?
To slip out of my world would be a simple task,
From there all I’d have to do is hide away,
Go into the shadows, and never come back
Oh how strongly I feel the call…

I wrote this poem for my girlfriend's cat:
Slappy
Orange fur glows in the sunlight
Like a fiery nimbus.
Pouncing…
Playing…
A furry mouse flies through the air
And slips under the sofa to join its fellows.
Cleaning…
Sleeping…
Stretched across the bed
A tangerine blanket.
Stretching…
Stalking…
No one’s ankles are safe
From the rust-colored menace.
Purring…
Loving…
Mandarin claws kneading arms and legs,
Snuggling his way into our hearts.

Lovely poems you guys, I thought I'd add the only things I have in english :P
(No Title)
Along the ground all around me lies a mist,
I feel like I´m taking part in a faery tale
There your are standing underneath a tree
just watching my every step
I walk along the bank of the lake
I´m soon by the boat that will take me away
You watch me with your sad face
But you do not do or say anything
You know that it´s no use
I do not have a choice
The boat will take me to another place
where they´ll rewrite my soul
The second I put in a document as it is long and not a pure poem, but rather a poem put into a text.

Teenage angsty as it may be I recognise my own thoughts in your poem, Brynnah. I find it pure and deep, loathed with emotion. I like it a lot.
Avialle your poem is so fluffy and cute. Makes me want to snuggle my red haired cat Pedro, who unfortunately still lives at my parents :(
Cayana's poems have this epic touch that places them in a far greater story. How come you're not a novelist yet, Cay?
I'm so happy people reacted ^^ thanks for sharing your poems, I loved them.

uhm school? :P Thank you for your comment Valarian, I appreciate it :)
I would love to see more of others and share more myself. At the moment I don't have any others worth sharing though. Haven't written anything but RP in english for a long time.

Here's mine, it's about my Edel of course. :look
Liberio Mi Domini
Hear me gods, for I cry out now
What have I wrought
to be bestowed thy fate
Of endless life
but boiling hate?
Hear me muses, for I call you loud,
Set me free, from chains
That bind
Dost thou hear this despairing man,
And can ease him, of his own demented mind?
Hear me, angels, if thou exist,
And save my tears, from the
wrath of dust
Hear me, oh hear, just for once
I Live, yet I am Dead.

Wow, there's a lot of good poets here! Well, I'm not surprised, considering the level of writing I've seen :)
So, since I only posted a kind of funny one, I'll post a couple of serious ones as well.
My Midnight
Unicorn horns, fairy wings,
Prince Charming on a white horse.
Once I believed in Santa Claus.
Ages ago, dragons roamed
Slain by knights in shining armor.
Once I imagined I’d ride Pegasus.
Leprechaun’s gold at the rainbow’s edge,
A magic lamp held three wishes.
Once I swallowed a witch’s brew disguised as juice.
So many years since angels sang me to sleep,
Since I hunted for the Easter Bunny’s eggs,
Since fairy dust lay dormant in a bottle of talcum powder.
These days can hardly remember my flights of fancy.
It’s midnight –
I close the door on dust covered pumpkin coaches and glass slippers.
Windows on an Empty Room
I passed her last night
In a dream, a vision.
Dark eyes saw through me,
There was no hiding there.
I closed my eyes while I lied;
Still I had to open them sometime.
She only had to look
To know I was false.
Inside there was nothing:
Four undecorated walls, bare floors,
Not even a spider in lonely corners.
Too late the tears fell,
Betrayal dripping from thick lashes.
There was nothing now
Except to walk away,
Vacant.

Here's one of my darker ones....
Murdered
not by your hands
but by your words
I am a coccoon
out of which
the butterfly has flown
slowly rotting away
empty
and useless

Miakoda - September 1, 2005 01:40 AM (GMT)
Ok I found some of my older ones and here ya go! Hope everyone likes them.
Hunting Morning
Put the saddle on the mare,
For the wet winds blow;
There's winter in the air,
And autumn all below.
For the red leaves are flying
And the red bracken dying,
And the red fox lying
Where the oziers grow.
Put the bridle on the mare,
For my blood runs chill;
And my heart, it is there,
On the heather-tufted hill,
With the gray skies o'er us,
And the long-drawn chorus
Of a running pack before us
From the find to the kill.
Then lead round the mare,
For it's time that we began,
And away with thought and care,
Save to live and be a man,
While the keen air is blowing,
And the huntsman holloing,
And the black mare going
As the black mare can.
Song to the Mother Goddess
our mother is the earth mother
mother of soil and shale
our mother is the sky mother
mother of wind and gale
our mother is the fire mother
mother of forge and ore
our mother is the sea mother
mother of tide and shore
Fire Dancer
Luminous pixels ascending
to the celestial cerulean blanket above.
Fairy dust to the heavens
carrying prayers to the gods with a hiss.
Fed again she dances
flashing her glittering skirt
as she whips around.
Energy burning, radiating
against the faces of onlookers.

Love the poems!
Here's one I wrote this year for the national poetry competition... It's about a beach in Manitoba (Canada) that I visit quite often.
Reflections on Grand Beach
No longer we think of the great steam train,
The past we do now ignore.
Since, forgotten already are the pains,
The fires hot in days of yore.
The ghosts of dancers twirl and prance,
Crying and grieving; haunting the wetlands.
Now not even a backwards glance,
Is given to the dance hall, whose ashes rest beneath the sand.
Now forests of umbrellas cover the shore;
Wild flowers covering the golden plains.
People enjoying the great outdoors,
Wraithlike humans tanning in vain.
Snow white sand soaks up the heat,
While frozen waves break upon the beach.
The lapping of waves; the sand did pleat,
Whilst birds fly high; just out of reach.
At twilight the eastbound wind,
Whispers sweet nothings in your ear,
The tide, from the bank rescinds,
Like the ending of a warm embrace, the shedding of a tear.
The setting sun falls in the lake,
Like the fishing line of an angler.
But just before light, this world forsakes,
Sunbeams chase each other ‘cross the water.
Crack! Night brings lightning to the skies
While rolling thunder shakes the earth.
Frightful rainstorms fill the dark July,
Leaving us cold before the hearth.
Though summers gone, and winter’s chill,
Sends snowflakes down like tears,
The memories during winter stay,
‘Til summers glow, again appears.
