Avialle scowled as she made her way to the laundry room. More laundry? She cursed the Aes Sedai who had given her this horrid punishment. Wasn't a switching enough? And for what? All she had done was a little bit of sword practice, what was the big deal?
Still, there wasn't much she could do about it except stew over it as she stormed over to the laundry room. The woman who handed her the basket of clothes gave her a stern warning about her attitude, which didn't help at all. Avialle tried to keep the scowl off of her face, however, knowing that another visit to that horrid woman would be unbearable.
Scrubbing at some dirty novice dresses, Avialle fumed over the unfairness of it all. She had only been helping Karena, after all. She felt a pang of guilt when she thought of Karena for the first time since being sent for punishment. Who knew what the recruit might be suffering for the infraction? Sighing, Avialle let her anger fade, washed away like the soil on the novice's dress. There was no sense in being angry all day. It wasn't as if it was hurting the Aes Sedai, or as if Avialle had any power to retaliate. Or did she?
She kept on with her laundry, but as she did, she imagined many different ways she might anonymously get back at the Aes Sedai. Most of them were completely impossible, but just imagining them were enough to make her feel a little bit about the whole affair.
