Title: School
Description: a little rant

Mika Soljourn - September 20, 2005 12:02 PM (GMT)
so.. school just started... I'm in my third and last year...
friday was an introductory day... was a complete mess... typically my school. I hadly even new which direction i was taken amymore.
they made a point of buying books with a difficult paper instead of just saying "the schoolshop is open, and Universitas (a seperate coursebookshop) does not yet have your books."
so i don't understand and walk to universitas.

I go to school on monday without books.

I arrive in class... which is fairly stuumped and people keep joining in. OK, so the school knows that most of the students skip school anyways... but even they should have the brain that they do not do so on the first day.

chairs need to be gotten from other classes and the teacher announces that as of next week there will be 20 extra students. "we might have to move to a bigger room" he adds.
He also tells us that the school has been smart enough to have those 20 students (international ones) get an introductory class at that very moment... so that we would have less to do this day.
everyone gets happy. "so next week we'll have 6 hours on monday instead of 4 to compensate" the class grows silent.

stupid school.

Today, I go to school. still no books as they apparently are sold out with more then half the students having nothing yet. don't a school know how many students they'll have?
I go up to my class, mp3 player buzzing in my ears and sit there alone till the schoolbell goes.

one other girl walks in that i know. a whole horde of younglings is gathering outside, apparently afraid to enter the room where I am in. I check my papers 'room 318' jip i'm right.
following the girl is a guy which i don't kow but which does not seem to be as young as the kids outside... maybe even older then us... he goes towards theteachers desk.

Both the girl and i assume he's our teacher whoml we've never met before.
untill he walks up to us.
"this is room 318 right?" he asks in english and opens a bookslet showing that he has the same schedule as we have.
we nod and change our thoughts frm 'teacher' to 'international student'

I start some smalltalk in dutch to the girl and after a while the guy walks out, quite dazed, and last years english teacher walks in, with the horde behind her. she looks at us, remembers us and goes 'since when are you guys in the first year of law?

the room is booked twice... so we leave.

stupid school.

we go down, muttering about how typical that is for our school, as we walk towards where the shedules (and changes to it) are hanging usually. the rest -or part of it- of our class is sitting there.

class is canceled.... to be done on friday afternoon.

i'll be back home at 7.30pm if I eat hurridly on friday. instead of somewhere around 3 or 4

stupid school.

 It seems to me they have their heads up their asses. I mean seriously now, you can't double book a class like that! don't they have computers that check for this kind of thing..honestly now. I'm glad my school isn't like that. *mutters about dumb schools*

And is it an insult to ask someone something in English there? I was confused about that one thing.

It's probably not an insult but a sign that the person is not the professor. (Though that's not true over here, we have a lot of foreign professors who do not speak swedish.) Anyway what I meant was I'm guessing most of the professors know dutch.

*snuggles* I'm sorry that had to happen! I hope things work out better in the future.
