Naina was still yawning as she made her way to Dovenie Sedai´s study. She felt sleepy and her eyes were only half-open. It was a real effort to get up this morning, after only two hours of sleep or even less, and to dress and braid her hair without falling asleep again. And now she had to go to this Aes Sedai´s office to get her punishment –before breakfast-! The novice didn´t eat anything at all today! Her stomach felt terribly empty and Naina didn´t feel well at all.

At least they did let her sleep two hours. This master of soldiers would have liked it if they were punished right away, What was the matter with them? All this just because Mirazhe and Naina sneaked into the Black Tower at night, painted the soldiers´ black uniforms white, ran into the M´Hael´s office by coincidence, by –coincidence-, not like they had planned it, and…well…hid in his closet, simply because it seemed like a good place to hide. Naina couldn´t suppress a wide smile as she imagined the soldiers´ surprised faces this morning.
The other girls walking past Naina began looking at her and probably wondering what she was so happy about. Naina sighed; there actually was nothing to be happy about this morning and no reason to smile at all. She was going to get punished and this for the first time.

Naina just hoped that Dovenie Sedai, who replaced Cayana Sedai wouldn´t be so strict with Mirazhe and her. After all…it was just an innocent prank, wasn´t it? And if she would try to teach her good manners…Naina hated this Aes Sedai arrogance, the women always thought they knew everything better! Nervously biting her lip the girl wondered what this punishment will be like. The master of soldiers was really angry as he discovered Mirazhe and Naina in M´Hael´s closet, he even used the One Power on the them! If it was his duty to punish the girls, he would probably kick them out of the White Tower or send them to scrub the kitchen floors for the rest of their lives! Naina sighed again and adjusted her dress. She knew she will be punished and she wanted to be done with it. Finally Naina reached the door and knocked, her hand trembled, the nervousness was taking over. Stop that immediately! Waiting for the answer Naina wondered whether Mirazhe was already there.

So…..tired….. Mirazhe struggled to keep her eyes open as she stumbled her way to the Mistress of Novices’ office. She’d only gotten to sleep for about an hour, maybe two hours last night and then it had been morning. Another yawn cracked her jaw wide open, and she rubbed her eyes. Why, why, why had Dovenie Sedai made them report so early in the morning?? Well, two hours of sleep was probably better than nothing. The Master of Soldiers had seemed pretty insistent that she and Naina be punished right away. If that had happened, they probably wouldn’t have gotten any sleep at all. It had probably been a small kindness from the Aes Sedai that they had been allowed to go back to their rooms. Thank the Light that none of her roommates had woken up when she had slipped back in the room. Mirazhe had felt so low last night that she had feared she would burst out crying – again - if any one of them had woken up and asked her what she was doing.

So tired was she that she nearly ran into the wall before she realized what she was doing. She barely managed to stop herself from hitting the wall and even then her nose was only inches from the cool marble. Turning around slowly, she saw that the other girls were looking at her oddly, and some were even laughing at her. She reined in her rising anger, reminding herself that if she shouted at the other girls, a passing Aes Sedai would definitely notice and punish her for it. Right now, she really didn’t need any more punishments. As it was, she gave all the laughing girls a meaningful glare before she walked on.

As she walked, she thought about last night. She couldn’t help a small smile from appearing on her face. Painting the soldiers outfits white had been a great prank if she did say so herself. And she and Naina had done a pretty good job, Naina with saidar and herself armed with a paintbrush. Everything had been going pretty smoothly. But then they had heard footsteps, and that was where everything had started to go wrong. They ran into a room, which had turned out to be the M’Hael’s room, and had been caught by the Master of Soldiers, who had dragged them –using saidin!- to the MoN’s office, where they had been asked to report to the temporary Mistress of Novices’ office in the morning. So here she was, headed for the office, and going on two hours of sleep.

When she got there, she saw that Naina was already there. At least she wouldn’t have to be all alone when whichever Aes Sedai was substituting for the Mistress of Novices arrived. Mirazhe gave the other girl a tired smile and asked, “How are you doing?”

Naina was still standing in front of the door waiting for an answer as suddenly she heard steps. The girl turned around and saw Mirazhe approaching. At first Naina was surprised that the other novice looked so tired, but then she realized that she didn´t look much better herself. In fact she probably looked worse. Why did her eyes just keep closing? The girl almost sighed. All she wished for now is this to be over. She felt angry because the Aes Sedai didn´t let her sleep and hungry, because they didn´t let her eat her breakfast. But she also felt scared and ashamed… Naina was ashamed that she cried yesterday as the Master of Soldiers caught them. Like some child! The girl thought biting her lip again.

Mirazhe came nearer giving her a tired smile and Naina managed a weak smile in return. She felt happy to finally see Mirazhe again.
“How are you doing?”
“Fine” Naina mumbled smoothing her dress nervously. “I mean…I am tired and hungry and…” There it was, she sounded stupid, she was complaining like some…some useless child again! And she most certainly didn´t want Mirazhe to think she was weak or scared of the punishment. Naina shook her head and tried to smile cheerfully. “I think any punishment they could possibly give us is worth the soldiers´ faces today morning.” The novice didn´t really believe it, there were thousands of awful punishments she could imagine right now, but she didn´t want to sound too pessimistic. “And what about you, are you alright?”

For some reason sleep wasn't a normal part of the job as assistant Mistress of Novices, really Dovenie had started to suspect that being the real Mistress of Novices was even tougher but that she wouldn't tell anyone, not even her own warder. Since Cayana had disappeared Dovenie had in a way found a new respect for the child, but never the less she felt above Cayana, once Cayana was back she would be stuck doing this lousy job again and Dovenie would be free to deal with her own. She still got angry at the fact that the green had gotten herself kidnapped but not as often as before, except if someone brought up the Green Ajahs attempt to locate her. Can't those silly women do anything right?! Dovenie didn't know how long she would still be a volunteer for this job, probably not for much longer.

This morning when Dovenie had woken she had been in a good mood, for once she had gotten some much needed sleep and she had had pleasant dreams at that. In the back of her head she could feel that fist of emotions that was her warder, Aylan was still sleeping and seemed to have pleasant dreams as well. Smiling to herself she got dressed and walked into her office on her way to order some breakfast. Though as she passed her desk she came to realize that there was a note on it. The note was addressed to her as the assistant Mistress of Novices and signed with that name that just tugged at Dovenies nerves, Gemena Sedai. She was about to ignore it when there was a knock on the door. "Come." Dovenie said only to find an accepted walk in with a tray of breakfast food. Surprised Dovenie hesitated long enough for the Accepted to have finished her curtsy. "Curtesy of Gemena Sedai." Dovenies surprised feelings left instantly and her eyes narrowed making the accepted somewhat uneasy. The girl however put the tray down at the sidedish along the wall and she left at Dovenies gesture.

Once the door was closed the Gray Aes Sedai snatched the note off of the table and read it. Aperently two girls had gotten in trouble the night before and gotten dragged back to the White Tower by the Master of Soldiers, the man in question had sent one of them off to locate Cayana unaware of the situation. Gemena had ordered the girls to their rooms and to report first thing in the morning, she hoped that the breakfast she sent would be sufficient as the two would be arriving early. As Dovenie had noted the names in her head she crumbled the note in her hand and just let the rage flow through her. As the expected knock on the door came she was quiet for a moment longer, as she settled her Aes Sedai exterior to that which all Aes Sedai showed, before saying a cold: "Come in Mirazhe Tomai and Naina Al’Daan." Dovenie would be sure to write a full report on these girls to Cayana once the bloody woman returned.

Mirazhe didn’t have time to answer Naina before the two girls were called inside the study. Shooting a nervous look at Naina, she smoothed her skirts quickly before entering the room. A single woman sat behind the desk, her face cold and expressionless. Mirazhe wanted to run straight out of the room, but knew that it would only make her situation worse. The woman would probably punish Naina for it, and then she would feel extremely guilty. Best to just stay here and wait this out. she thought. Curtsying, she kept her eyes on the ground in front of her, and said nothing. She looked everywhere except at the woman behind the desk. Dovenie Sedai, that’s her name.

Well, Dovenie Sedai scared Mirazhe to death. The woman looked like she had no feelings whatsoever. The one time Mirazhe had looked her straight in the eye, the Aes Sedai had stared back at her accusingly and she had quickly averted her eyes. Did I do something wrong? Am I not supposed to look her directly in the eyes? Her wits had fled her, and all the rules and dictums she had learned about novicehood had fled with her wits. She couldn’t remember a single thing. At least she hadn’t forgotten to curtsy. She couldn’t imagine what might have happened if she had forgotten to curtsy. The woman probably would have whipped her for it, since she didn’t look like the kind of person that would let a novice get away without curtsying to an Aes Sedai.

It can’t be that bad. All we did was paint the soldiers’ clothes white and accidentally hid in the M’Hael’s closet. Accidentally! It’s not like we knew that it was his room! Mirazhe wanted to throw herself down on the carpet and yell out her innocence. She was innocent! She and Naina hadn’t done anything harmful; all they had done was paint some black clothes white! There was nothing horrible in that. It wasn’t like they had kidnapped or killed someone. And if the Master of Soldiers hadn’t walked in on them, they would have gotten away with it too, with no one the wiser. It was all his fault. What was he doing awake in the middle of the night any way? Shouldn’t he be sleeping? Yes, it was all his fault, Mirazhe decided, in a fit of stubborn anger. He should be punished for it.

Suddenly, her stomach grumbled. Mirazhe flushed bright red and stared at the ground, letting her long hair obscure her face. Oh Light! She hadn’t eaten breakfast that morning, hadn’t had time, and now she was starting to regret it. What was she supposed to do now? Should she apologize to the Aes Sedai, or should she stay quiet, like a good novice was supposed to do? She bit her lip, unsure. Well, maybe Dovenie Sedai hadn’t heard it. Hopefully she hadn’t. And hopefully, this whole thing would be over with soon.

Before Mirazhe could answer Naina´s question the girls heard a stern cold voice coming from Dovenie Sedai´s study. "Come in Mirazhe Tomai and Naina Al’Daan." Mirazhe gave Naina a very nervous look and entered the room. Naina didn´t want to go in, but she understood that there was no way out of this. The only thing she could do now was to pray. Feeling her face growing as pale as her novice dress Naina stepped into Dovenie Sedai´s room. The woman sat behind her desk and she didn´t look pleased at all. Naina did her best to curtsy shooting frightening looks at Dovenie Sedai. The girl tried to read some emotions in the Aes Sedai´s sterness, but all she could see was an accusing look in the woman´s eyes, which wasn´t necessarily a good thing.

Staring at her feet Naina imagined all the awful things this woman could do to them. She could send them to scrub the dirtiest pots in the kitchens or to clean all the floors in the White Tower or…some girls were sometimes sent off to farms to work there, which would mean that Naina would probably not be able to study for a certain period of time. Light! She wanted to study, as much as she could, and she wanted to become Aes Sedai, as fast as she could! She couldn´t just be sent off to some farm now. But that wasn´t the worst thing that could happen to them. What if the Aes Sedai sent them away from the White Tower? Would they ever do such a thing? No…they would probably first let her learn as much as it was necessary, so that she doesn´t kill herself or someone else by accident and send her away afterwards, which would be even more awful. And all this for a couple of clothes painted in white? Why, white was a very nice colour. Why should they be punished so hard for such an innocent prank?!

While Naina was imagining all the other horrible things that could happen to them the stretching silence started to make the girl feel uncomfortable, she wanted this to be over as soon as possible after all. The silence was interrupted by Mirazhe´s stomach grumbling. Naina could see the other girl immediately turning red and trying to hide her face in her long dark hair. Naina had to suppress a grin. Of course she felt sorry for her friend, but it wasn´t her fault after all. Maybe now these bloody Aes Sedai would notice how ridiculous their rules are. It was their idea not to even let them have breakfast this morning. Still staring at the ground Naina waited for something to happen.

The girls entered the room without so much as a sound. Something very wise of them as Dovenie was in a very bad mood so suddenly. They knew nothing of it of course. She eyed the two girls. The two were from quite different places, an Andoran and an Arafellin. The Andoran girl had very long hair, was very tall for an Andoran and very much so being a girl. Really the girl was skinnier then she should be even with what the White Tower was feeding her. The other one, save the tone of her hair wasn't much different, save that she looked slightly heavier then her friend. A sensible Aes Sedai would make sure these got fed properly. But it wasn't in Dovenies interest to do that at this point. It got underlined however as Mirazhes stomach rumbled loudly.

Leaning back Dovenie watched them both as she said. "Well? You both know why you are here and I bet what you are supposed to do so tell me know. What were you two doing out of bed last night?" As she waited for a response she started to form out the punishment in her head that the two would get. Would she be creative this time? Or would she go with the old boring stuff? If she tried the first it might get a bad result given the time of day and the fact that none of them had had breakfast. Sure Dovenie could eat breakfast which would in a way torture the girls more, but then again it would also torture Dovenie to have accepted the breakfast from Gemena.

After a short moment of consideration Dovenie poured herself a cup of tea and picked out a sandwich from under a cover. While listening to the story she took a bite and sipped her tea, still looking at the two as if the having breakfast part was something casual she wasn't even thinking of, like breathing.

I still have to deal with this.... :look Ooops.....

Well, I'm kinda busy right now, and I don't know if I have the time to RP this. I can't speak for Naina, but I think just giving us the punishment would be good. :)

Are we still getting punishment?

Now this is weird, I have the distinctest feeling I PMed you both about this a while ago*scratch* ah oh well. Uhm do you want to RP your punishment? Cause this has been draged out quite a bit time wise (which is partly my fault) so I wouldn't require you to do so. If you wish then I probably can make something up. Just let me know :)

Well, wasn't there something about the PM system not working? Maybe that was it.

I'd be fine with anything. Naina's off in Moscow for a week, but I think she'd be fine with it as well.
