A quick overview of personality: Sloane is a quite typical Domani man. He is quick to anger, but quick to calm as well. On the whole, he is a rather pleasant person and gets along with different kind of people. He is quite protective of his sister and thinks he has to look after her all the time. If someone insults or hurts her, he will not let it pass. Sometimes he can be a lot over-protective. Although his temper is quick and passes fast, there are some things, some insults he will not forget, and mostly they have to do with his sister.

History:
Sloane was the second son in a Domani family. His parents were merchants, like most Ebou Dari were. His first years went playing with his parents and his brother, and he soon had a baby sister. Sloane was interested in this little pink creature as soon as she was born, and grew to love her at a very early age. He loved his brother too, and his parents, and life was by all means very peaceful and happy for Sloane.
He learned what every Domani boy learned from his father and brother, reading, writing, book-keeping, soldiering and how to deal with women. Domani women were traditionally the merchants because of their way with men, but every merchant needed someone to keep book and take care of the merchandise and most of all, protect them from bandits. So those were the things that Sloane was taught.
He was quite a quick learner, and enjoyed being taught. But it all changed when their mother died. Sloane was eleven at the time. He hadn’t been that close with their mother, but he had still loved her and grieved for her. But that was just the start. Their father couldn’t quite cope with it all, and he started to drink. It was horrible. It started slowly, but soon he was drunk all the time, day and night. He couldn’t take care of the business, let alone take care of his children. Sloane’s older brother was soon a man, and he just couldn’t bear to live with their father. So he left Sloane and Lalaine alone with their father. Sloane was furious. He was only thirteen, and Lalaine was just ten. Their brother should have taken care of them when their father obviously couldn’t, but no, he ran away like a coward. Sloane created a growing hatred toward him, and hoped he would some day meet him again. He would kill him when he did.
So Sloane and Lalaine were practically alone with their father, who was getting worse and worse. Sloane took it his job to take care of Lalaine. They started to spend quite a lot of time with their grandparents, who were happy to continue their training that they had been missing now that there was no one to teach them. Sloane learned how to use a sword and daggers, and Lalaine learned some female things that Sloane was somewhat aware about. Sloane also soon developed the famous temper Domani men had, mostly because young Domani girls had started to take interest in him once he reached puberty.
Their life wasn’t pleasant, but it could have been worse. Their father wasn’t violent, he just didn’t do anything. Sloane took care of Lalaine as well as he could and became quite protective of her. They both learned what they could from their grandparents and on the whole went on with their lives.
The only problem was that they didn’t have any money. Their father had spent most of the money to drink, and they were soon in depth. Things were getting worse. And soon they became a lot worse.
Sloane was nineteen when it happened. Their father was very drunk, and started to babble about their misery and how he wanted to kill himself. Sloane tried to calm him, and suddenly their father started to accuse him of everything. He was very drunk, and finally he attacked Sloane, hitting him unconscious.
When Sloane woke up, their father was unconscious on the floor, Lalaine looked terrified but not harmed. Sloane tried to find out what happened, but Lalaine was as clueless as he was. But one thing was sure. They couldn’t stay here. Sloane couldn’t bear the thought that their father would hurt Lalaine one day. He couldn’t live with it, so they left.
They headed for Shienar, but Lalaine took sick. She had high fever and she couldn’t even sit straight, and she complained of headaches and dizziness. Sloane panicked. How could this be? What was wrong with his sister? He didn’t think he could live without her. So without even thinking about it clearly, he headed for the White Tower. If someone could heal his sister, it would be a Yellow Aes Sedai.
Lalaine got better after a few hours, but Sloane was determined to find out what was behind that sudden illness. So they went to the White Tower.
The reason for the illness was soon revealed. Lalaine could channel. And, what’s more, Sloane could channel too. Happy for this new start, and for the opportunity to stay together, they both enrolled and started their new lives as channelers.
It was hard at first, getting used to the discipline and being away from Lalaine. Sloane and Lalaine had always been together, but now he could see his sister maybe once a month, if he was lucky. They both had very demanding schedules, and you never knew when you were ordered to do extra chores, so it was impossible to plan visits. It was hard, and Sloane missed Lalaine, but he got used to it, at least to some extent.
Sloane's temper got him into trouble. He found it hard to control his anger once it flared, and it didn't take very much for it to flare when he was already tense and tired because of all the lessons and chores. But when he calmed down, he did his best to make things right again.
He gradually got used to the idea that he would be spending the rest of his life in the Black Tower. He had heard stories that it could take decades before a Soldier was raised to Dedicated. At first he detested the idea of decades of hard Soldier life with all the chores and (in Sloane's opinion) pointless lessons, but as years went by, he just had to accept it. Ten years as a Soldier, and still he had not been summoned for the Raising.
He had to wait three more years for the honour. Only then was he fetched for the Raising. Sloane was thrilled; after thirteen years of hard work, he had earned the opportunity. So Sloane met his fears. And never returned from the Second Arch.
I like it, but it's so sad. Approved. :)
Yes, I've had a hard life... *looks into the distance dramatically*
Thank you!
I think it could stand to be a bit longer, but I won't hold that against you.
Approved. You'll add to iteventually.
Are you planning to add his years as soldier and death to his bio, or should I just move the thread to the Retired forum?
Yes, I'll finish the bio tomorrow. :)
