Personality: Lalaine is, for the most part, a sweet, charming girl, though oftentimes very quiet. She possesses the calm and serenity that her brother does not, and she does not anger easily. When she does get angry, her rage lasts longer than most, and she is not quick to forgive. She cares for her brother, Sloane, very much, though sometimes his protective nature becomes overbearing. Lalaine is not very outgoing, at least not anymore, but the friends she does earn, she keeps and holds true to. Lalaine is also very observant, especially with her brother. She can read people's emotions quite well usually, and she's quick to respond to them. Lalaine is also a quick learner and very determined. While not necessarily competitive, she strives to excel. She is often times very sad, merely because of the events in her past, but she is learning to get past them.

History: Lalaine was born into a small, comfortable, and happy family in Arad Doman. Her mother was a Domani merchant, as successful, if not more so, than the rest of the Domani women. Her father stood alongside her, and with her two older brothers, the family was as perfect as could be. Lalaine was treasured as the family's jewel, being the only girl and the youngest.
Her childhood was a happy easy one, trailing around after her mother and older brothers. Her mother started to teach her about merchanting, among other things, and Lalaine couldn't have been a more eager child. She loved learning, and she loved to excel. Her family was proud of her talents, as she learned to read and write before she was six years old. Her future was a promising one, and even Lalaine wasn't sure what glories it would hold.
Her relationships with her brothers were quite good, though the siblings still had their own problems, just as any other family. Nevertheless, she cared for them, and they for her. Endless hours were spent with the two of them, running by creeks or even just visiting a town while their parents worked. Her relationship with her mother also blossomed, and Lalaine certainly resembled her mother in many ways. Her laugh and smile were often though to be identical, and many a customer told her that she was a "spitting image of her mother."
Unfortunately, her mother died at her young age of eight years. It seemed then as her life was just a downward spiral. Her father was no merchant, and Lalaine had hardly learned enough to take on the family business herself. Besides, no one would take an eight-year-old seriously. Slowly, their money disappeared, spent especially on their father's grief. The man became entirely too accustomed to ale and other alcoholic drinks. Lalaine was also negatively affected by her mother's death. Her mother had been her greatest role model and possibly her closet friend. Lalaine spent the next couple years crying often, though she tried to make sure her brothers didn't see her.
Finally, her older brother grew up, and, not able to stand their father's drunken behavior, he left the family all together. Lalaine was only ten years old. Sloane grew angry with their brother, but Lalaine could understand his reasons for going. Since she was only ten, she didn't yet understand the obligations to a family that perhaps her eldest brother should have considered. It worried her that Sloane was so angry.
Nevertheless, the two siblings were not without any adults at all. Their grandparents lived nearby, and the two often spent time with then. Lalaine watched in fascination as her brother learned weaponry from their old grandfather, and she, too, continued lessons with her grandmother. Lalaine enjoyed these lessons, but her history had somewhat marred her ability to become the "perfect" Domani woman. She learned to flirt and to manage merchanting, but often times, her soft smile did a better job than any other sort of Domani women tricks.
Despite this, the downward spiral continued, and their father did not get better. Perhaps Lalaine would have been able to overcome her mother's death, if it had not been for her father. The man did not give up his drinking, and he did not turn his life around, as if there was no hope. When she turned sixteen, he spoke of wanting to kill himself and other frightening things. Her brother tried to calm him down, but their father started attacking Sloane, finally hitting him and knocking him unconscious. Lalaine was afraid - afraid of her father hurting her and afraid that Sloane was dead. Something either miraculous or unfortunate happened... A large gust of wind swept through the house, throwing her father against an empty bookshelf, knocking him too unconscious.
At this, Lalaine was horribly frightened, not understanding what had happened and fearful again that she had killed her father. Finally, Sloane awoke again and reassured her that their father was not dead. He decided, most firmly, that they had to leave their home. Lalaine couldn't help but wonder if she really had killed their father, and Sloane was leaving with her to protect her. She didn't have much time to think about it, for she soon came down with a horrible illness.
Sloane changed his course as quick as possible and took her to see the Aes Sedai in Tar Valon, even when she did get better. Lalaine, again, was fearful of the Aes Sedai, but with her brother by her side, she felt somewhat safer. The White Tower could explain the mysterious happenings at their home. Lalaine had channeled, and even more, Sloane could channel too.
Unfortunately for Lalaine, a block had developed - she could only channel when afraid. But the prospect of channeling was still frightening, but wondrous at the same time. Lalaine looked towards her new life with excitement. She missed her home, especially her grandparents, and her past still haunted her. But she donned the novice dress with determination, and she knew once she stepped into that Tower that she would one day be Aes Sedai.
