History:
She walked in to the Mistress of Novices study, her black traveling cloak still on. She took it off and put it over the back of her chair. The Mistress of Novices looked at her and she felt the fear that many people had told her about when an Aes Sedai looked at you. That gaze was hard and penetrating. Nina wished it would move away from her eyes, she wanted to look away but could not. The Aes Sedai smiled and spoke.
"I am glad you are here child." she said kindly. So am i Nina thought as she reflected back upon the events of her life.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Her earliest memory was that of running through the feilds of tall grass that made up part of her homes extensive gardens. She was only little and played on it with her parents, she was the youngest of three girls and could use her innocence and age to get what she wanted. She was running through the dry golden grass with her eldest sister Kieta, she was laughing, having a great time. She could hear her mothers laughter somewhere in the background, her father talking and her pet puppy Ilna barking. This was her earliest memory and it summarized her childhood well, playing with her sisters in their home, her mother joyful and ready laugh and her father, her dog Ilna and happiness, carefree and easy.
As she grew older her innocence died away. She became quite a naughty child, feeding her sisters shows to Ilna had gotten her the worst punishment that she had ever been given. It was around this time, when she was seven years old that she began to understand her families position. She did not understand the concept of nobility or true power in that sense but she began to know that she was different from the servants that also resided in their country estate. She began to know that they were the ones who bowed or curtsied and she was the one who did not. She liked to have power over people, had from a young age and so would give them silly orders to do, showing her power over them.
At this time she began to train with the families personal tutor, the ancient man had taught her father, her oldest sister and was still teaching the middle sister when he began to teach Nina. He taught her many things all thing which would be useful to a nobles daughter. She took in very little and hated that she was not out playing or doing what she wanted. She hated the environment of the classroom, hated the confines it put on her. But she had to deal with it. She liked better the classes her mother taught her. That of etiquette. how to behave it befitted any nobles daughter.
For the next nine years she learnt her mother lessons and those of old Feedin. She hated his lessons even more now as she was understanding them, boring history and politics, the Old Tongue, geography and culture. It was all very dull and she wanted nothing better every time she entered that room to be out of it. However the time came, on her sixteenth birthday, when she was freed from Feedin. Her father announced that he had found a suitor for her. She was extremely happy, her father was a little old fashioned but she did not mind. Apparently he was a young noble son, fourth in line to a noble house. She loved her father for it.
A few days later she had met the suitor. He was tall and dark and handsome. Everything that Nina had ever wanted, she liked him instantly and he was the only person she had not tried to control. To her it was love at first sight. They had spent the next year or so basically with each other. She met his family and he hers, they would have been married but wanted to wait, to see if it was right. But she knew it was. She was seventeen when he proposed marriage to her, and she said yes immediately. She knew that she would love him for all of her life with all of her heart. The wedding had been fantastic; all of her friends, family, his friends and family had been there. It was the happiest day of her life.
They had spent the next year in married bliss. She fell pregnant with a child nearly a year after the wedding and everything seemed to be going right. Until he began to become strange, he began to be able to move things without touching them and she knew it was the Power. He was sent to Tar Valon and to the Tower to be trained by the Asha'Man there. It broke her heart to be away from him, she had heard it could take years to become an Asha'Man. She hoped that he was weak in the Power and would be sent away after a few months or a year, she had heard it had happened before.
However nothing worked out like she planned. An Asha'Man had Traveled to their home bringing Teela with him. Well Teela’s body. It seemed he had killed himself while doing an experiment and Nina’s world had come crashing down. Everything happened very quickly, the funeral, her losing the baby. She thought that she would never love again and it broke everything to lose her unborn baby and the love of her life. She contemplated taking her life, but didn’t. It had shattered her life, losing not only her husband but the one thing which would hve kept her love alive in some way. It had taken her months and months to get over it, and when she finally did it seemed like she had aged by twenty years. She was more serious than she had been, not seeing the funny side of everything as she had done. Some had said she was grim, but then they said that that was to be accepted. She defied them in a sense, she had cheered herself had told herself that love would come again..She continued to live her life, content and yet not complete within herself. She spent the next three years at home, living as she had done, watching her eldest sister marry, fall pregnant and have the baby boy, it hurt Nina to see it but she did not hate her sister for it.
Near her 20th birthday news had come from the local village, news of an Aes Sedai there. It had filled the small community, including there household, with awe and excitement. Nina had never seen an Aes Sedai before, had never heard of one to come so near to her home. Her mother and father, her sisters, her sisters husband and child had all gone to see this wonder. They had arrived on the pretence of just going to the village. They had gone to the inn for a drink and had seen the Aes Sedai. They had all introduced themselves to her, she seemed gracious but Nina was sure that she would rather not talk to them. However her eyes had lit up when Ninas father had asked her to test his daughters to see if they could channel. Her other two sisters had failed, they were not too bothered but Nina was filled with hope, she had always liked the stories of the awe inspiring Aes Sedai. When the Aes Sedai had clapped and laughed and said that Nina could channel Nina was so happy. She thought that it was maybe a gift from the Creator for all her trouble she had had. The Aes Sedai had asked her whether she would like to come to the White Tower, Nina had naturally said yes and the next days she had set off for Tar Valon. By the time she reached the city she was 20.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Child" the Aes Sedai snapped at her. Nina jumped, she had been lost in her memories again. She looked at the Aes Sedai.
"Im sorry Aes Sedai, i didnt hear you" the Mistress of Novices looked annoyed.
"I said child you may leave now, there is another Novice waiting to escort you to your new room. You will find your dresses there, here" she handed over a sheet of paper" its some details about your lessons and a schedule for your first couple. Have fun" she said the last with a smile.
This is just to let people know i have finished.
A lovely story, although I have two very very minor problems with it.
I would say that the story could do with some more detail about when she lost her husband and her child. Events like that will forever change a woman, and cannot be casually mentioned in a few sentances. if you were to add a bit more in that part, it would help greatly.
And one more thing. When did her father decided to send her to the White Tower? Did he know she could learn to channel, how did he find out? Was it an Aes Sedai? Elaborate more on this so that I know how you came to be at the White Tower. A few more details on her personality would be well too, not just commentary on how she felt when certain things happened in her life.
I also went ahead and edited some spelling errors you had throughout the bio. I would suggest writting all of your posts in microsoft word, spell checking them, and then posting them on the site. We want to uphold professionalism, and that can be shown through the smallest of gestures...and one of which is a curtesy spell check. Thankyou! ^^
I look forward to the completion.
Ok, i've added more to the my husband and changed the bit about me being able to channel etc. I have spell checked the latest things that i have added. Sorry for my spelling before.
