Title: Raising Requirements
Description: Novices, Accepted, Soldiers, Dedicated

Sapphira Calren - January 31, 2006 10:19 PM (GMT)
It's pretty obvious that our method of raising people in the channeling paths isn't working to well. We've raised 4 people (I think) all the way through in a year and a half, and I'm not proud of that number. So, we're changing raising requirements. Please read the changes.

QUOTE
IC:
The only requirement for becoming a novice, set by Egwene when she was Amyrlin was that you only had to test true and you could become a novice, no matter your nationality, age or previous family life. Similarly, the only requirement for becming a soldier is being able to channel saidin.

Since everyone who can channel can become a novice or soldier, the requirements for Accepted/Dedicated needs a slight clarification. To be raised to Accepted/Dedicated is to not only come and learn how to use the One power or study at the tower, but to set on a path to become Aes Sedai/Asha'man and to be strong enough to do so. A man or woman unwilling to resign a normal family life for the time of being Aes Sedai/Asha'man will not be raised unless it is asked for by the Amyrlin/M'hael. Other then that the old requirements stand. That is:
* A novice/soldier who has learned to control the source enough to not harm herself or others can be called to the testing.
* If a novice turns down the call she can do so three times, but at the third time she has to leave the tower. If a soldier turns down the call the first time, he is required to leave the Tower.
* Not turning the calling down means that s/he will meet her fears in the three arches ter'angreal, one for her past, one for her present, and one for his/her future.
* If s/he wants to break any time during this test s/he will also be sent from the tower and if s/he breaks afterwards (the first few weeks involving severe pressure on him/her) s/he will also be sent away.

To become Aes Sedai/Asha'man the Accepted/Dedicated has to be mature enough to handle the responsibility. S/he may have no channeling blocks and s/he has to pass a channeling test under extreme pressure. To this test she is only called once and if s/he fails or turns down the call she will be sent away.

Sent away doesn't mean being sent away for good. A Novice who has finished her education and left the tower can join the Kin, there is no reason any longer to feel alone and unable to work as a channeler in the world. There is also a simliar option for soldiers and Dedicated who are sent away.

OOC Novice/Soldier:
For a person playing a novice/soldier to raise her/his character to Accepted/Dedicated she/he must play his character with substantial posts that make the roleplaying story played move forward. She/he can not godmod.

She/he shall have shown that the character is there to learn.

She/he shall have showed that she/he can RP channeling without goodmoding.

She/he need two recommendations from two senior members to that can stand for that she/he has done the above.

A character must stay at this level for at least one month (3 weeks) OOC time (Until she has reached the desired strength IC) unless the Amyrlin and M'Hael decide that the novice/soldier has reasons to be raised prior to this.

Once having completed all this (and the character having the IC requirements) the player can ask for the application and send that to the Mistress of Novices/Master of Soldiers.

OOC Accepted/Dedicated:
For a person playing an Accepted to raise her/his character to Aes Sedai/Asha'man she/he must have planed an RP plot and played it out together with one or more players.

She/he must have contributed to the Roleplay community in some way.

A character must stay at this level for at least one month (3 weeks) OOC time (Until she has reached the desired strength IC) unless the Amyrlin and M'Hael decide that the Accepted/Dedicated has reasons to be raised prior to this.

Once having completed all this (and the character having the IC requirements) the player can ask a senior member for the application and send that to the Mistress of Novices/Master of Soldiers.

Many thanks to Cayana, who wrote this for the novices/Accepted, I had to alter it slightly to make it work for both factions.

So, this means that classes and training is no longer required. However, classes are still encouraged, and can count for an Accepted/Dedicated's contribution to RP. Rather than training, you must RP somewhere and prove to us that you can RP channeling without taking too many liberties and godmoding. I'm sure you can find a way. :) Have fun! :D
