This morning, getting ready for church, I was thinking about Fusion. I don't know why, I just do a lot of thinking in the mornings, which doesn't really make sense but anyway.
Although it's not a birthday, anniversary or holiday, I realized just how lucky we've been. Right now, Fusion is almost 2 and a half years old. Light, I really can't believe it's been that long, it doesn't seem like it, but thinking about all the changes we've made over the years, it seems like it should be a lot longer. I got to thinking, most sites don't make it past the 2 month mark, making it almost 2 and a half years so far, we've done far better than the majority of the WoT sites out there. I would love to take the credit for this, but I know I really can't. We didn't start Fusion any differently than any other site. In fact, Zekieal and I had less admin experience than most of you have I'm sure, and we had no idea how to go about making an RP site really work. We had three or four members right away, but by some amazing twist of fate we were able to get a really great group of people to help us get started. Unfortunately, most of those people are no longer here but no one can deny what they did for us.
Most sites start out and have great ideas, good RPers and dedicated admins, but for some reason or another, whether it be RL issues, a dispute between members, someone bashing their site or anything at all, they don't make it. When I think about how many sites I've joined just to have them die a few weeks or so later, it really makes me appreciate Fusion. We have all the things we need, and so much more, and that's what's made us work I think. We have to deal with a lot of stuff, I know, but we make it through all that, no matter what. I have so much faith in this site, I can't say something like "I know it'll be a success" because it already is a success. We're way past the beginning, and it's a good feeling. It's nice to know that if I'm away for a few days things won't fall apart, Zekieal once told me that he liked to just sit back and watch his site run, without any influence from him. I personally like having input, but I like that thought, that with all the work we've put into it, it really works, and it's going to keep working for a long time. :)
I didn't realize when we started out how much work running a site would actually be. I thought it'd just be me doing a lot of RPing, approving a few bios as soon as they were posted and that was about it. It's turned out to be a heck of a lot more than that, but you know I've never for a second regretted it. I've enjoyed every step we've taken, and I realize that although things don't always turn out they way you want them to, and just because things don't happen as quickly as you'd like, it'll all be okay.
I can't thank you all enough for everything you've done over the past 2.5 years, and I know that there's a lot more to come! :D So, I hadn't planned on this being that long, but there you have it anyway. :)
