Title: LoA-ish?
Sapphira Calren - August 30, 2007 02:06 AM (GMT)
Okay, so I'm moving into college this Saturday. Tomorrow I'll probably be on in the evening, but I'm going to spend the day with my grandma, since I hardly ever see her and I'm moving a little farther away soon. Friday, I'm pretty sure my mom and I are going to go get all the last minute stuff I still don't have, and I have to pack, as I haven't really even started yet. :look Then Saturday is move in, and from then until Tuesday is all sorts of welcome stuff and I have no idea how much free time I'll have. Then work and school start and, again, I'm not sure how much free time I'll have. I'll be on though, you just might have to give me a few days to settle in. *hugs everyone*

Okay, I'm going to officially end my LoA, but I'm not going to promise I'll be around a ton just yet. I have a free day tomorrow, so I should be able to get some things done, and I've been checking in every day, but classes start today, so I've got to settle into a schedule. :)

Welcome to Adulthood! <_<
Get settled in, and remember to take time to enjoy yourself as well as study and work. We'll be here...

how exciting, your first days of college life. The 4 year party with a 100,000 admittance fee. :P
at least thats how it was for me my first 2 years.

Well, it should be slightly less than that for me, because of my wonderful $7,000/year scholarship from the college. :D So it'll only be about $66,000, lol. It's not so bad so far, hopefully it stays that way. :)

I was fortunate. My dad never used his GI Bill (World War II vet) benefits, so I was able to use them to go to school. Ball State was much cheaper than a private school, and just as good. It basicially paid for everything. I did work in the audio-visual department for extra spending money, as well as worked as a sideman (I played trumpet and piano) for performers coming in to do gigs. That kept me in beer money...

make sure you watch that scholarship. Colleges often give large introductory financial packages and slowly take a thousand the next year, then another year take another thousand. It's literally happened to 95% of my friends. Expect it to go down when you become a sophomore, but just find another scholarship to replace it.
or, keep ridiculously high grades, which becomes increasingly hard as you move through college. I only say this because i want you to be ready for it like i wasnt. They never tell you that kind of shit. The bastards.
but im glad you got such a nice amount of money for school.

There's a lot of grant money out there. Maybe only in a couple of hundred or so, but it's out there. Every little bit helps. Search online. There's stuff for Italian-Americans, Greek-Americans, etc. Be creative...
