Title: I'm curious about you

Rialt Erydinan - October 8, 2007 11:24 AM (GMT)
Well I was thinking on this recently, and I wonder about the many illusive lives of people who call Fusions their "home". I mean, I know some of you fairly decently because I've talked to you on messenger, but for those of you whom I know, but never talk, I'm curious, whats your life like? You don't have to post of course, but I'm curious about the kind of lives ya'll lead.

Me for instance, I guess I start with some of the obvious things.

I'm twenty years old (looking forward to my 21st as I'll be spending it on 6th street in Austin, hehe) and I attend Schreiner University in Kerrville Texas. thats in the hillcountry northwest of San Antonio. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and I love traveling, even though I don't get to do alot of it. I'm a Junior in college, majoring in the ever broad but fascinating English program. I have no idea what I want to do with my life yet, but I figure I'll just keep on going to school until I figure it out.

I do not have a boyfriend at the present time, although I have a great group of friends from both my high school days and my uni days. I obviously spend alot of time with university stuff like classes, homework, and Alpha Sigma Alpha (go sorority, no I'm not a drunken slut).

I love to divide my time there and in Medina Texas with one of my best friends, Corrina, who is 15 years older than I am. Odd I know, but she went back to school and thats how we met. She graduated, but lives about 20 or so minutes from Kerrville, so I spend about 3 nights a week at her little cottage house on a ranch in the Texas countryside. Its really amazing. Stars are so profound when you're nowhere near a city.

I've recently decided to begin planting and maintaining a bunch of herbs (not pot, u damn stoners :P ) and I am a music/film elitist. No I don't think my music is better than yours, I just think I know more about it, or have more of it :P I also have a bit of a problem with speeding. I own a 1992 Honda Accord that is my baby, and I hate it when other cars pass me. I'll scare the shit out of you in a car, lets just put it that way.

I work part time work study in the computer lab on campus. It sucks. I am obsessed with Heroes on tv. I don't watch much Tv, as I prefer to read, although my reading is at a minimum being that I have an ungodly amount to read for my english classes.

I like Whales. They're awesome. And wolves. And windchimes..... go me. My name is Kristen. I am awesome. I want to know about you.

Sapphira Calren - October 8, 2007 10:05 PM (GMT)
My name is Melanie, I'm 19 and I'm currently a freshman at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. I grew up in Bellville, Ohio, and my home is only about 18 miles (about a 25 minute drive) north of my school. I live on campus, in a dorm, with my best friend from high school, and it rocks. They always say you're not supposed to room with your best friend, but it's working out really well for us. I'm majoring in Spanish Education, and I hope to move southwest someday to teach Spanish, and possibly English as a Second Language. :)

I am currently dating the greatest guy in the world, his name is Joe. He's two years younger than me, and since I just moved to uni I don't get to see him nearly as much as I wish I could, but I love him, and I'm so happy. :D We've been dating for about 4 and a half months now. :)

I keep in good contact with my good friends from high school (go Facebook :P), and I've already made some really great girlfriends here at college.

I don't have a whole lot of hobbies, most of my free time is spent on the internet, lol. I like to read and write, and I watch some TV, but not a lot. I absolutely love Spanish, I suppose that means it's a good choice of major for me. :) I drive a red 1994 Ford Thunderbird named Thor whom I love. :)

I work in the library on campus, which isn't so bad, since I am able to spend a considerable amount of time on homework whenever I'm there. And it's money, not a lot, but some is better than none, lol.

Oh, and I'm Fusion's first Mother, I've lived here for almost three and a half years now, and I've loved every minute of it. :)

I think that about covers me. :D

Robert Laurel - October 8, 2007 10:41 PM (GMT)
My name is Robert, and I'm 53 years old. I live in Laurel, Maryland, and I work for the Department of Defense. I'm originally from Indiana (La Porte), but I've also lived in Arkansas and Texas. I've been in Maryland since 1980. I played sports in high school, and was in a drum and bugle corps until I was 21.

I attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, about three hours southeast of my hometown, and majored in World History and Journalism. I worked in the audio-visual department at the library. I taught for one year at a junior high, then joined the Air Force. I was stationed in Japan, and visited South Korea, Okinawa, the Philippines and Hong Kong. Then I came back to the States and got out and got a civilian job where I worked. Since then I've traveled extensively in Europe, and served with UN and NATO peacekeeping forces in Bosnia and Kosovo, seeing combat a number of times. Due to medical conditions from my stints in the Balkans, I'm not allowed to deploy to Iraq, but I have to sit back and watch my fellow co-workers go over.

I like to read. I like to read a lot. My primary interests are science fiction, fantasy, alternate history, military history (emphasis on the Napoleonic Era and naval warfare). I have about 2000 books in my one bedroom apartment, and hope in a year to so to move a two bedroom so I can use one bedroom as a library.

I also like to cook. I would love to hit the lottery, so I can buy a house with a big kitchen. For a while I lived in a house with a country-style kitchen, with a huge counter in the center. I got spoiled. I cook mostly Midwestern (meat and potatoes), but I'm trying to expand my repertoire. I have a huge George Foreman grill and I love it. If I had a house, I would have a huge gas or charcoal grill in the backyard and cook off of it almost every night.

I watch TV a lot. Mostly the History Channel, CNN, Discovery, Science, National Geographic. I watch a lot of football and baseball. The only network shows I really watch are Stargate: Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica, Heroes and the Bionic Woman. I have a large collection of movies on VHS and DVD, and I keep converting the tapes over to DVD.

I'm a member of the Science Fiction Writers of America, and am personal friends with many of the writers. My favorites include Jerry Pournelle, Susan Shwartz, Harry Turtledove, S.M. Stirling, Melanie Rawn, Judy Tarr, John Ringo, Eric Flint, David Weber and Ray Feist, among many. There's a few I've left out. I try to get to one convention a month if possible.

I like to roleplay. I've been doing Dungeons and Dragons since I was in college, and I run a campaign every Sunday afternoon. I also wargame, both board games and computer games.

I played trumpet and piano. When I was in college I did musical gigs and worked as a sideman for performers coming through on tour. It kept me in beer money.

Vaeira Beridaor - October 9, 2007 01:45 AM (GMT)
My name is Jess. I am 19 yers of age. I live in the small town of Weatherford Tx and actually love it there. I just moved here from iwakuni japan and though i do love it here i wish i could go back.

I am currently single and not looking forward to dating someone any time soon. I have broken the heart of one man apparently. But that's what he says. I soon found out his old freind was pregnant with HIS child at the same time i was going out with him so I'm not really into dating right now.

I'm a freshie at college and am going to try to major in english. I have few good freinds all of whom have left me for the military, which I' might be joining soon depending on how life turns out right now.

I love to sing, dance, and roleplay in real time. I'm an active video gamer, by which I mean i stand and yell at the game when i die or lose. I am a really big scare seeker and have a lust for adrenaline.

I have a fear of large water and i wont even go in a swimmign pool due to blackng out by hitting my head on the bottom of a freinds pool when he pushed me in. Trauma...

I'm a really big fan of country music and old rock.

And that's all about me...

Edeleas al'Kuar - October 10, 2007 06:21 AM (GMT)
Hello hello, my name's Kristine (yes, I AM a girl, dammit :P ) - I'm 19 years old, a junior student in college, taking up Creative Writing. I study in the University of the Philippines.

I love reading books and/or surfing the net to pass free time. I prefer fantasy and science fiction more, though I also love to read classics. I'm currently reading my way through a thick anthology of our folklore. It's really fascinating stuff. I can't call my day complete if I haven't chatted with anyone on my Y!M list.

I've been in Fusions since I was 16. I'm the second RPer to have climbed my way through the ranks, and the first JM to SM Asha'man of the Black Tower. Rialt was my awesome mentor. ;) I was also ex-MoS. Fusions is where I learned to RP. Fusions is where I always comeback to regarding WoT Rping at the end of the day.

=3

I wake up at 5:00 am automatically, everyday. :look

Mirazhe Tomai - October 11, 2007 02:33 PM (GMT)
Ooooh, About Me threads. These are always so much fun to read. =D

Hey, my name is Hong. I have no English name at the moment (though one of my friends did call me Stephanie for the better part of a year, don't know what was up with that...) but I have a huge load of nicknames. I'm currently 17, a senior in high school, and freaking out about college applications, the first of which is due in less than three weeks. I am also single, and loving every minute of it, since all my friend's stories have scared me away from the playing field. =P But I love hearing about their drama, even if I have none of my own to share.

I'm from Wisconsin, actually, but I'll be in Beijing, China for the entirety of this school year, as I am studying abroad my senior year of high school. It's amazing here, I have a great host family and have made tons of friends (though OF COURSE I miss my friends from home). I'm actually throwing one of my friends a surprise birthday dinner tomorrow, but since I don't have a restaurant booked yet, I have no clue how that's going to work.... :look

I read and write (roleplay) in my free time, but I haven't had any free time lately, as I've had a good three hours of homework each night, an extracurricular everyday after school, and the aforementioned college applications. I like to listen to music, as does everyone I'm sure, and I'm currently addicted to Nickelback. I've been listening to it nonstop for the past 4 days.

I'm extremely pessimistic and paranoid, and I get stressed out easily. I'm also extremely indecisive. The only way I can make a decision? Eenie, meenie, minie, mo (or however you spell it).

Fusions is my first-ever roleplay site, but I've joined a ton since then. However, at the moment, I'm only active at two, here and an amazing fantasy site called Terrawin. I've discovered that I have a preference for playing male characters, so who knows, maybe if I find my elusive free time, I'll create a male secondary here. And then maybe Edel can corrupt him. Or something.

I think that's enough about me. If you really need to know more, I've got MSN, AIM, Yahoo, and just about every possible IM system there is on the planet. And I'm almost always on.

Myara Ahnri - October 11, 2007 05:07 PM (GMT)
Let me see, my name is Wendy, I'm 30 years old and currently living just outside of Detroit, Michigan. I've lived in five different states in the US now: Pennsylvania, Arizona, Virginia, Texas and Michigan. I spent many summers while growing up in Cleveland Ohio, and I visit Florida on a regular basis. I'm not really sure if Michigan is where I plan on staying, seeing as winter is just not agreeing with me all that well.

I'm currently single. Sort of. Maybe.

:look

Okay, so someone likes me, and I like them, but we haven't quite yet decided if we're really dating, or whether we're just really, really good friends. The whole thought of a long distance relationship is kind of daunting. It's not like we don't spend way too much time talking to each other, eh? Ah well, I'll be seeing said someone twice again this month, so maybe we'll decide!

I work for the US Government, specifically for the Department of Treasury. I love my job, since it's busy enough to make the days go by pretty darn fast, but also gives me just enough time to peek in and write a bit here and there. I'm the resident computer nerd, without the official title, the one everyone runs to when they break something and don't want to wait for the REAL computer nerds. My real title is Administrative Assistant, which means I just do whatever anyone needs. I also love the fact that I can transfer wherever we have offices, as long as I wait for something to open!

When I'm not writing or working, I'm usually reading, playing World of Warcraft, dabbling with a bit of Photoshop, out jogging or working through a D&D campaign with a group of RPers. I also LOVE to travel, be outdoors, camp, hike, swim and all that good stuff.

I'm a night owl who has a day job and wakes up WAY too early, all in the name of a good morning walk or jog. Of course, the way things are going up here, I'm going to need an eskimo suit to keep up the morning outings!

I guess that's about it.

Izak Farkas - October 22, 2007 04:24 AM (GMT)
Whee, amusement for the bored! :boing-boing:

I'm a 19-year-old college junior, and strangely named Yves. That's a masculine name, but I'm a straight girl. Although I do find it amusing when I'm called 'Kuya' (literally, 'big brother') once in a while, and being referred to as a 'he' by teachers during the first day of class doesn't bother me. You may also refer to me as an 'it' (and considering my character now, that seems more appropriate).

I study Computer Science and Information Technology, and in my free time I either eat, sleep, play or color drawings on the computer, or write (roleplay or write fanfics). I'm a homebody. Sadly, I'm not a complete computer geek yet, though when I get a job I should be married to my computer. Or PSP. When I get one. :look

Me and my brother had this deal that whichever of us gets a girlfriend/boyfriend first will get beaten up by the other. He and I have been single ever since, and as far as I know, have no plans of getting hooked up with anybody.

I like eating cake. And raw fish, especially salmon. ;)

Ataea Variel - November 29, 2007 02:35 AM (GMT)
These threads are always so fun!

Hihi, my name is Savanna! I'm a fifteen (le sigh!) year old Sophmore in a public highschool, my first year to ever be in one because I've been to private schools all my life. I was born in Lousiana but when I was a year old my family moved to New Mexico. I stayed there until I was nine and the summer of my fourth grade year I relocated to Texas, somewhere near Houston. Three days before school started this year my parents decided we were moving back to New Mexico, so that's where I currently am!

Now that you know that, I can tell you my various nicknames. My close friends in Texas used to call me simply Vanna, but these days I run with four insane boys who delight in calling me crazy stuff like Booster and Jazz (the little Transformer) because I'm short and a year younger then all of them. The upside is that they protect me like older brothers and have stood up to several guys who disrespected me while I was wearing a skirt. I look weak because I'm short and thin, but I pack a punch. When I'm one of 'the guys' with my friends they don't spare me the hurt of wrestling, not to mention I have three older brothers, so I know how to defend myself!

I discovered several years back that I wanted to join the military, so when I transfered to a public highschool it was only natural that I join the military class they offer there. So I'm a proud Cadet Airman (I got my first promotion just recently! *dance*) of the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, a fancy name for a class that allows students with 4 semester credits of it to automatically advance to the E2 tier when they join the military. That means they skip a few ranks and instantly get a raise of several hundred dollars a month. Very nice. *nods* Oh yeah, and if I join the Air Force I want to fly the F117 Stealth Fighters.

I don't have a boyfriend because relationships are extremely overrated and my friends might scare them off anyways. I am, however, madly in like with someone in my ROTC (military) class that is going to become a Marine. The nice thing is that the feeling is mutual! It works out for both of us though, because he isn't allowed to have a girlfriend and I don't like being labeled as a couple.

I like go pass time reading, writing, RPing, watching all the Japanese anime you could possibly imagine, and swimming at the pool across the street. I do 100+ sit ups every night before I go to bed just because I think it is fun. I refuse to take baths thanks to an unpleasant detail Ildeus pointed out to me, so showers it is. I have a mind that, once it slips into the gutter, is worse then that of my male friends. I always wear flip flops except on the days I dress in my ROTC uniform and on the days when we do Physical Training (PT) in ROTC. I can sit down on the ground, spread my feet out infront of me shoulder length apart, lean forward and stretch my fingers past my toes for 15 inches (try it some time :D).

Ok, well, that about sums me up. I'm not really interesting as you can see. XD

Remeian Maran - December 3, 2007 08:33 PM (GMT)
Hello, you all. I decided that it was finally time to reveal something of the person behind this character (and a few others :look). I'm a nineteen-year-old law student in the University of Lapland, Finland. I moved away from my hometown to study the law, and so far I've liked it, even though all the really interesting stuff is yet to come. ^^ I like my new home and I haven't really had any problems living alone for the first time in my life, especially since I met a lot of people right in the beginning and now have some fairly good new friends. But I still keep closely in touch with my old friends too, and visit my hometown whenever possible (like now, for the whole of December! :jitter: )

The one thing I do miss when I'm in Lapland is my boyfriend. We've been together for about six months now. I knew that I was going to Lapland if I passed the exam, but things got pretty serious during the summer so we're trying the long-distance thing. And so far it has gone reasonably well. He's my first real boyfriend, and I'm not giving him up. :D

And I'm a girl too, if someone was wondering. :look

What else... I'm addicted to Terry Pratchett's books and coffee, I watch a lot of tv, I speak four languages (and a bit of Spanish learned from Mi Gorda Bella :look ), I have one sister, horror movies never scare me, I'm very analytical and I question everything, I vote, I've never tried drugs, I've travelled in Spain, England, Russia, Sweden, Estonia and Belgium, my favourite band is Rammstein, I don't like early mornings and I wear a lot of black. ^^

Ataea Variel - December 5, 2007 02:49 AM (GMT)
Oh my gosh, Rammstein is friggin' awesome!

Renoeil Syeth - December 6, 2007 05:36 AM (GMT)
I'm considerably younger than most of you- enough so that I would prefer not to admit my age. I've got four brothers and one sister, one niece, one nephew, and two nieces/nephews on the way, and a hobo uncle. Oh- and a bipolar aunt. They're on different sides of the family. I don't know from which parent the madness comes from most strongly. It's a tie, I think.

I live in Cali's bay area, enjoy lovely weather, and laugh at you every time you complain about the snow. No offense- I just like to gloat when I get the chance. I've only been role playing for about three years or so, and admit that I still have a rather embarrassing noob site. I'm most certainly female- as anyone who read the lovely spam thread would hopefully have noticed by now. Either that or you think I'm very, very gay.

Hm... What else? I'm primarily german, can speak nothing but english and a little Spanish, and I don't have a favorite band. I like everything from Lilly Allen's LDN, to Smack That, to Greensleeves, and back again. I take Piano and Ballet- so traditional, I know, but I love it, am an extraordinarily picky eater, and I live on bagels toasted, butter melted and cinnamon toast crunch, which I worship.

I have a rather short temper, enjoy dissing my wonderful, loving parents and siblings, and have forced my mother into promising me a Tiffany's necklace if I get 4.0s all year. So far, it's looking like she's going to have to cough it up, to her distress.

I'm also a very special person.

Rialt Erydinan - December 6, 2007 10:47 AM (GMT)
we can all see just how special you are. :P

Renoeil Syeth - December 7, 2007 04:25 AM (GMT)
I'm hurt. :pout:

Rialt Erydinan - December 7, 2007 08:48 AM (GMT)
*looks imposing and unhurt* <_<

Resolute al'Therin - February 14, 2008 07:19 PM (GMT)
I'm cool.

Sapphira Calren - February 14, 2008 07:35 PM (GMT)
The understatement of the century. :P

Resolute al'Therin - February 15, 2008 01:57 AM (GMT)

One tries.

<----I'm also a buttface ;) :look *slinks out of thread*

Rialt Erydinan - February 18, 2008 04:38 AM (GMT)
I admit it - I Haxxored Res's account because hes so cool I'm jealous.

Resolute al'Therin - February 18, 2008 05:02 PM (GMT)
Well...at least you admitted it.....

<---no it was my own edit... :ph43r: :look

Resolute al'Therin - February 19, 2008 03:42 AM (GMT)
Cheater

My name is Andrew, I'm 18 years old, and a Freshman in college in Liberal Arts. I am also from San Antonio, TX - but I have never had the fortune to meet Rialt and the other greats from here. I hope to pursue a career in writing, although I have a long way to go. In high School I was a competitive swimmer I was a member of the State Champion Team my Sophmore year and Captain of Championship Team my Senior year . I attended meets with Olympians and all that cool jazz too.

Uhm, there ya go?

Sapphira Calren - February 19, 2008 06:43 PM (GMT)
Wow, that's very cool Res. I never knew all that stuff...I don't even think I knew you were a swimmer. :look

Zakriid - March 19, 2008 12:13 AM (GMT)
Hmm, I suppose I should finally get around to this.

I'm twenty years old and living in western Canada, second generation Canadian. I was from an island originally, and somehow managed to graduate with honors despite shirking way too many classes, and moved north to go to college. I was a member of my local robotics engineering team for two years, we took first place both times at the end of each. I enjoy a broad spectrum of reading literature, non fiction over fiction actually, usually biographies, but that is not to say my enjoyment of fiction is any less. I would love to say my life is exciting, and even while being voted most likely to conquer the world or destroy it while trying, it really isn't all that different from your average journey through existence. I'm a lover of philosophy and linguistics, and often question the world's sanity; but that's about all I can think of for now.
