Note about her strength and Talents: (if permitted at least)
Within her talents, Mika is extremely gifted and exceptionally strong. On other area’s however she is extremely weak, and even though in time she will learn a lot of things, she will always be rather bad at things that are not within her talents.
A quick overview of personality: (in the beginnin)At the moment that Mika joins the Tower she is only fourteen; since the horrors of her past she has changed from a happy young girl to someone who seldom speaks and she has come to rely on her brother even more then she did in the past. Even though she can have her moments of mature insight, she still generally is very young in mind and body. Mika cannot read or write but is quite good at cooking, sewing and other household work. She has a talent for making lace. Because of a couple incidents during and after the trollockraid, Mika has developed a block that only lets her channel whenever she is terrified.
History:“Mommy !!!” The word echoed trough the air.
All was silent except for Mika’s frightened sobbing and occasional cry for help. Tears streamed down the face of the young girl as she looked around frantically to see whether someone would see them hanging.
“Don’t worry Mik, I won’t let go of you.” The soft voice of Elia held the promise that she needed to hear and Mika looked up to her brother who hung atop the branch and had his right hand clutched over her left wrist; preventing her to fall from the deadly height she hung.
They had been playing together, like they always played together, and this time Elia hadn’t been able to prevent his little sister from climbing up the rather huge oak tree to put back a little baby bird that had fallen out of it’s nest.
But things had gone wrong, and before they knew it, a branch broke under the feet of the two young children and Elia had only barely managed to grab hold of his sister as he slammed onto a lower branch.
“I want mommy…” the young girl softly said trough her sobs but even though he had the hardest time holding onto the branch and his sister, Elia still managed a warm smile and a comforting word “Joan is getting mommy and daddy and they’ll be here in a moment” and not too long after, their other brother appeared with their parents and a couple of other villagers ready to help them out.
This was by far the first time something like this happened. Nor was it the last time. Mika always had a knack for getting herself into trouble; but then again, her big brother Elia had a knack for helping her out of it.
And like that she grew up.
Mika Soljourn was the only daughter of the Soljourn family in TarenFerry, a small village at the Taren in Andor. They lived a peaceful life there, Mika’s parents were the villages tailors and were able to provide a decent life for their four children Elia, Joan, Mika and Thom.
Even though the three boys and their sister often played together, the bond that Mika shared with her oldest brother Elia was the deepest. And though Elia was about four years older then his sister; the two could barely be seen apart.
One day, when Mika was fourteen, such a rare occasion happened where Elia was teaching his brothers the way of the woods, and where Mika was helping her mother.
The day had started out very nice; Even though it still was spring, the temperature already was that of summer and that day the sun shone warm and bright upon TarenFerry. Two days earlier a trader had come to the village and her parents had bought a lot of new fabrics and other things.
Mika had hoped that this year she would be allowed to braid her hair for Belltine and be a woman instead of a child now. Her mother had already agreed on helping her make a new dress for the feast; and now they were working on that together.
In the oven a few breads and a large cake were being made and the scent of it nearly drove the young girl mad of hunger, but she knew that soon enough she’d be able to enjoy it. The day went by and in the evening while Mika was working on some lace for her sleeves, after all she was very good at making lace, putting a piece of the cake in her mouth from time to time when suddenly she heard her brother shouting outside.
She tilted her head and tried to understand what he was shouting, but next to her, the three cats were caught in a loud fight and thus she couldn’t hear him until he slammed open the door and ran in.
Before she even had a chance to ask him what was happening, Elia grabbed her and nearly dragged her outside. As she tried to make him stop he just shouted “Run now!” while he was still partially dragging her.
She was about to just stop him and ask what game he was playing until she realized the frighteningly serious look on his face. It was then when she noticed the other people looking around in panic and heard the first terrified screams arise “Trollocks” She had merely heard a few of them shouts when suddenly a horrid scream came from behind her.
In a reflex Mika looked back to see a goat-like thing pull it’s giant axe out of Madam Alana; the wife of the roof maker.
Had it not been for Elia’s pulling, Mika would have just been frozen to the ground in fear like some other women and men around her; but instead she just kept running, one hand held by Elia, the other still clutching the piece of lace she was making.
For what seemed an eternity they just kept running, along with a lot of the other villagers, a bit ahead because both of them were fast runners; but even though they’d kept running, still screams kept following them; screams of villagers not fast enough, and loud, cruel laughter of Trollocks hunting for their preys.
Suddenly Mika felt a pull and realized her foot had been stuck behind a tree root, With a small shriek she hit the ground and sound found herself pulled up to her knees and pressed harshly with her back against the tree, Elia’s heaving body tightly against hers. Soft whining sounds left her throath but still, in the midst of the villagers trying to run by and evade the trollocks, Elia managed to keep himself calm and speak to her softly “Shish Mik, I’ll protect you, just be silent” Completely trusting her brother, she gritted her teeth and kept in any sounds.
Nearly paralyzed by fear, Mika saw the first Trollocks pass their tree and finally catching up with the villagers, surrounding them in their cruel hunting game.
All the while Elia held his body pressed against hers but still she could see all that happened in the cruel bloodbath of Trollocks feasting upon the people of TarenFerry. She saw trollocks passing by their meager hiding place, but not noticing them.
The whole night Mika and her brother stayed where they were, unmoving, unseen, silent witnesses of the trollocks feast.
When dawn finally came, the Trollocks moved on, but still Elia and Mira waited till the sun had nearly reached it’s highest peek to move out of their shelter. Not a word was spoken between them, but at her brothers lead, Mika followed the young man away from the carnage and to the village again; only to find an even bigger carnage.
The entire village seemed to be burnt down, and some houses still were simmering. Immediately the two siblings ran to their home, but like every other thing in the village, it merely was a lot of burned logs and ash now. As they made their way to the inn, one of the only stone buildings, they came upon a sight that caused them both to turn aside and throw up whatever was left in their stomachs.
But even though she’d emptied her stomach, Mika still felt gravely bad; and by the evening she lay ill on a bed of grass. And thus they stayed in what once was their village for a while, and as Mika lay on the grass with a high fever, Elia went out to look for other survivors, but none came.
The illness miraculously passed as quick as it had come and not too long after Mika was back on her feet; the two left what had always been their home.
Together they started traveling around, stopping at farmers houses, asking for a bit of merci, or even work. At first they managed to live a sad, but somewhat manageable life on the road; but as time passed, both of them started to look worse and their strength fell down, until after a couple of months they found themselves savaging for food or a bit of money wherever they could find or get it.
One day they reached the city of Whitebridge, as they passed the guards –who shot them looks that were even more filthy then they were themselves- a man clad in black appeared before them. He took aside Elia to talk to him, but merely a few moments later her brother and the dangerous stranger came back. Elia’s face was strange… a mix of emotions that Mika couldn’t figure out. “Come Mik; this man offers us a place to stay.” His voice matched his expression, an intangible knot of emotions and a bit reluctant Mika followed her brother and the mysterious stranger. When the Asha’man wove a gateway, Mika had nearly ran away, after all, she had heard fairytales of viciously cruel trollocks; and they had proven to be true; why wouldn’t those awful ones about channellers not be.
But as always, Elia managed to convince Mika to step trough the gate as well.
When they arrived in the black Tower, Mika was granted a very small room there while her brother became a Soldier. One day, Mika sat in the mess hall when an Aes Sedai mistook her for a novice and sent her to the Mistress of Novices for receiving her punishment for not wearing Novicewhite.
There in Cayana sedai’s office Mika found out that she could channel as well and without further ado her name was written in the Novicebook and she was dressed in white and sent back to the black tower to collect her few belongings.
Update 1: At this moment Mika has been in the Tower for 4 years and her character has changed tremendously. with the help of quite a lot of friends in the tower, Mika has once more become the playful, friendly girl she was before the trollock raid, and now very regularly visits the mistress of Novices office as one of the biggest pranksters. She has not yet gotten rid of her block though, but the Aes Sedai -and especially her mentor Dalaine sedai- have proven to have enough things to make her terrified and thus teach her things.
If ever she and her friends talk about 'one day when they are Aes Sedai' she usually blushingly admits that she fancies the Green, and their warders; though she isn't bold enough to go very far with the stableboys or recruits yet. the furthest she has gone up till now would be a stolen kiss from some.
Update 2:For years Mika stayed in the Towers, pretty soon she discovered that she was troubled with a block, namely that she could not channel unless she was terrified. this put her practical training with Saidar on hold and even though she was swallowed with other chores and classes, Mika grew into one of the most reknowned pranksters of the tower; in the meanwhile gaining a lot of friends and always managing to get comfort from her brother Elia who was one of the better students at the Black Tower.
Almost nine years had passed in the towers when Elia was summoned to the Arches; something that drastically changed Mika's rather happy life as a novice. Elia had failed his test and had gotten lost in his second arch. This news was devistating to the novice who had now lost all of her family. During her period of grief however, she realised that the tower had become her home and that she had friends here and people who cared about her, that she'd never be alone. Somehow this reasoning managed to snap something within her and she broke her block on the day of her brothers rememberance; enabling herself o start drowning herself in knowledge and a quest for training so that she would be raised as soon as possible, and would be able to face the arches herself, to see what was so strong to put her brother down.
And after three years of intense studying, training and the absolute minimum of pranks in order not to be a social outcast, the evening came when the Mistress of Novices came to Summon her to the Arches.
As she finally left the third, last arch, Mika was on the border of insanity, her mind hardly able to comprehend what she had seen and felt. And while two of her arches had been awful in any possible way she could even imagine, it was her second arch that had her wondering and that gave her the determination to stay in the tower and to seek a way to get trough all the hardships on her way. it had given her a reason to stay.
Update 3:After her arches, Mika was determined to find a way to contact her brother, whom she believes is still alive within his own second arch. Even though she occasionally got caught up in the obligatory prank, Mika spent as much time as possible in the library, learning about Travelling, Ter'Angreal and the dreamworld.
The discovery of her talent in the making of Ter'Angreal, surely aided this process and Mika was raised to the Shawl in the Brown Ajah in nine years.
Mika stayed in the tower for a while, but was drawn to the Great Hold in Tear to examine even more ter'angreal and portalstones in the vecinaty. One particular doorway ter'angreal however told her to go into the lands east of the Aiel waste with a specific dedicated of the black tower in order to find out more about a way to contact her brother Elia again.
Two years later, Mika finds herself leaving shara again as Nhadnay's dreams tell of danger to the Dual Towers in Tar Valon.
(for the entire closed RP (RJ length :look ) about what happened to Mika while I have been n LoA (basically the long version of update 3 :look ), please check
this link.)
After the danger to the towers was gone, Mika once more felt the urge to travel and seek more knowledge on the making of Ter'angreal for Travelling.
