Title: Regarding Gaidin
Description: everyone must give their opinion.

Zekieal al'Kith - September 1, 2004 10:59 AM (GMT)
We do have the gaidin of course....Something i do not like to think about at the moment....Gaidin, non channeling warriors...they are neccessary.....but I hesitate to add them, because the ongoing battle between Gaidin and Asha'man at other sites. who si the better warrior blah blah blah. its fun to roleplay, but some people take it to a more personal level....so I ask, what do you think on the gaidin

Rialt Erydinan - September 1, 2004 12:27 PM (GMT)
we need them, that is my firm opinion. We have to have non-channelers. perhaps they can be modified somehow.

Gwenhwyfar - September 1, 2004 01:59 PM (GMT)
I think that we should have them too. And if they do get out of hand than we just need to give them a nice little PM about the way that they are acting. So yes we can mod them somewhow that would be great.
~-.-~

Dalaine Telaisien - September 1, 2004 05:42 PM (GMT)
I think that we should have them as well, and as for sending them a PM if they start to take things that should be IC into RL then I think that should go for the Asha'man as well as the Gaidin. There's usually fault on both sides in things like that and I don't think its a good idea to favour one over the other. That's just my personal opinion.

Lyla - September 1, 2004 07:31 PM (GMT)
well, I donno...
I mean, what's the point?
I always thought of Gaidin as those who protect the Aes Sedai when they can't protect themselves... but now we don't have the 2nd oath, and the Ashaman, and it seems like it might not be that necessary to have non-channelers

just my opinion

but yeah - if there's any OOC problems between Asha'man and gaidin, it's not only the Gaidin's fault, but the Asha'man's too.

and if we DO have Gaidin - it would be only men or both men and women?

Sapphira Calren - September 1, 2004 07:37 PM (GMT)
What she said *points at Dalaine* I think Gaidin are necessary, it adds variety to the site, and allows for people who don't really like the idea of playing channelers. I also think that if the Gaidin and Asha'man can't be mature enough to keep from arguing about pointless things like who's the better fighter, and they do it frequently, they're really not mature enough to be SM's.

Zekieal al'Kith - September 1, 2004 08:22 PM (GMT)
alright....but for Gaidin....we do indeed need to give them something that will make them feel that ,despite being non channelers, that they are more then sheer brawn....I was thinking, that because the Aes Sedai really owe the Gaidin their lives, that they give them a ter'angreal when they bond with an Aes Sedai. a mass produced ter'angreal, so its no loss. Its a sword hilt, that when touched, a blade of sorts bursts out, and depending on what the blade looks like the mind's eye, depends on what it looks like when it comes out. The Blade is denied to channelers completely, and it has the ability to "cut" weaves of moderate power. obviously this is only useful if their aes sedai is shielded or something because Gaidin cant see weaves, but it is still useful. but because of how potentially dangerous it is if a channeler could touch one of those, A gaidin Is only able to use it when they have two things met. they insert a starteer gem thing into the hilt, and the Aes Sedai channels the "password" weave....i dont feel like expanding on this idea anymore, but tell me if ytou like it?

Lyla - September 1, 2004 08:52 PM (GMT)
I liek the idea of having that blade thing for the Gaidin, I think they deserve something. and it's nice to have it as a bond gift, cuz that'll make 'em wanna bond - though it might make people want to bond just to have that ter'angreal, and not for wanting to bond. and that is baaad...

I don't really understand the "password wave" thing, and I think maybe the Ter'angreal should be maked so channelers cannot make it work at all, cuz it's just too dangerous in a channeler's hands. Aes Sedai guiding the gaidin is definately enough...

but what about the Asha'man? I mean, the gaidin gets something from the bonding, and the Asha'man don't (not to mention Aes Sedai :P), except for the bonding itself....

Zekieal al'Kith - September 1, 2004 09:07 PM (GMT)
aye, that is why Aes Sedai are the ones that propose the bond, not a Gaidin.

no, cause then if it gets in the hands of a friend of the dark, and that man is compelled by a channler of the dark, it would be jsut as deadly. just because a channler cant make it work doesnt mean they cant make it deadly. now if it was useless until a password weave was set, a weave that is chosen by the Aes Sedai. that way, even if its held by a non channeler, it is useless.

Rialt Erydinan - September 1, 2004 10:54 PM (GMT)
I like that idea alot. With the Gaidin, i don't really have much of a preference if its only males or males and females. THe idea of the sword is a good idea, i think it should be for the Gaidin, so perhaps the terangreal can be channeled into to make it work for only that particular person, so its effectively their weapon and no channelers can use it. once it is assigned to a man then thats it.

Zekieal al'Kith - September 1, 2004 11:56 PM (GMT)
alright, then Gaidin Ho! *readies to make the Gaidin stuff*

Lyla - September 2, 2004 01:59 PM (GMT)
but is it going to be Gaidin men or men and women?

Sapphira Calren - September 2, 2004 07:27 PM (GMT)
I vote men and women, I see no reason that men should be allowed to be played as non channelers and women not. Plus, there's that variety thing too. ;) But whatever everyone else wants, majority rules. :)

Zekieal al'Kith - September 2, 2004 07:32 PM (GMT)
no, actually, Sapphira, my word and your word is law, and i do sayeth males and females caneth be gaidin...eth.

Rialt Erydinan - September 2, 2004 09:47 PM (GMT)

Fianna - September 3, 2004 04:53 AM (GMT)
I think they are nessecary because you can't have Aes Sedai without having a warder :) I can't think why the Warders and the men channelers would have problems with each other???? On my site we have never had that problem. Oh well you guys have it all under control LOL *sneaks out of room so people won't notice her rambling*

Kristen Thorin - September 3, 2004 03:23 PM (GMT)
I believe that Gaidin are important not just from a defensive point of view, but also as a roleplaying. Sisters that travel abroad will be roleplaying with themselves, and other sisters of certain Ajahs live alone. Although solo RPing is normally avoided, it does occur, but with the inclusion of Gaidin a lot of these situations would be gone.

Nah, you'll be okay. Although, if you are the only Gaidin, you are going to be fiercly fought over.
