Title: Tactical Meeting
Description: A Crisis In Far Madding
Alisha Kovenant - October 23, 2004 05:39 AM (GMT)
Alisha sighed as she entered and looked around, she had ecquired a conference room in the library, and had gotten a few novices to bring some books on different matters, she looked around the room, which was circular and had a circular table in the centre of the room with two chairs. There was a window that faced over across the grounds and from which light poured through, as se looked over her notes that she had brought with her. Apparently a number of Asha'Man were being withheld within Far Madding for the supposed crime of killing oe of the members of the governing council there, and to furthermore heighten the problem the city was claiming that they were carrying weapons which had the binding wire that they used as a peace bond broken. Alisha realised that due t the nature of far madding, and the lack of the power in that area, there were a lot of complications that dealt with dealing with them, but she was becoming rather tired of the high handed manner that the authorities there tried to deal with Asha'Man, and the Aes Sedai, as if they were second class.
She sat down and crossed her legs under the table, and started sorting through her notes on the laws, customs of Far Madding, she had been there a few times, and she had to admit, it was even more disconcerting being there than it was to be in an Ogier Stedding, at least there they knew that they would be safe, and treated fairly, but this situation in far madding had grown to a point of crissis, and it had become imperative that they set a precedent regarding the treatment of Asha'Man , regardless of where the things were taking place. Alisha twirled her hair around her finger as she read on and waited for the M'Hadi al'Tain.
Rialt Erydinan - October 23, 2004 06:16 AM (GMT)
It had been about a week earlier that Rialt had been contacted by the Gray Ajah and made aware of information regarding two of their missing Asha’man. Asione of the Shen al’Doon M’Taal, and the other Eilienol of the Shen al’Dieb Cha. Rialt had spoken with both Laridian and Sidivin about this revelation and ensured both of them that he was working with every resource he knew of to bring the two of them back to the Black Tower. Far Madding had a history of thinking they were the rulers of the World, even going so far as to tell Asha’man and Aes Sedai that they could not even wield the Source in the city. Well, that wasn't necesarily true. The ter'angreal that alerted them to the use of Saidar and Saidin had been put in place after the breaking of the world, to protect against the male channelers. But now, he couldn't help but think it was used as an advantage and tool against Tar Valon. The Counel of Thirteen, all women, had even hung an Asha’man not more than fifty years ago for murder. Of course, that problem had been a large one. That Asha’man had been found out to be a Dark Friend. The Black and White Tower had done nothing to stop the Counsel from going through with its plans. After all, what good was a Darkfriend? So 50 years ago, that Asha'man had hung. But in allowing them to take care of that problem, they had inadvertantly created another one that Rialt had to deal with today; they thought they could control channelers. They had so boldly told the Gray Ajah, who were working to the best of their ability, that they had no intentions of releasing the two Asha’man from custody, and fully intended on trying them for the murder of one of the thirteen counsel members.
It was absolutely absurd to Rialt, he knew both Asione and Eilienol to be the farthest from Darkfriends and murderers as humanly possible, both of their families had been murdered in the Borderlands by Shadowspawn. He wanted to walk right up to the bridges of the city and barge through, demand their release and see Far Madding’s Counsel admit to its defeat at the hands of the Towers. It wasn’t quite as simple though for them, they couldn’t simply ignore Tar Valon. Rialt was going to make it absolutely clear to them that Far Madding was going to be in a world of trouble if anything happened to either of the Asha’man before negotiations could be made. Normally, it would just have been the Gray Ajah working to mediate their release, but Zekieal had asked Rialt to take on this task, citing his ability to work well with the Grays. It would be their combined efforts that would bring the two men back to the Shining City. This day though, Rialt had made a meeting with Alisha, the Gray who seemed to be in charge of this particular mess. He was willing to try diplomacy before he had to resort to force, but if needed, he was going to storm that whole light blasted place and force them to release the men.
He found his way to the Library, the Browns nodding at him and one Brown Accepted hurrying over to inform him that Alisha was already waiting for him in the conference room. He nodded his thanks to her, and made his way to their private room. No other person needed to know what was going on here. It was of course, known to everyone in the White and Black Towers, how important and annoying Far Madding was in any account, but he wanted to keep the incident isolated as long as he possibly could. It would not do well to have the two at war…, though he was perfectly prepared to bring them to such a point if it came to life and death for the two wrongly accused Asha’man. He entered the room, and Alisha sat in the far corner next to two large windows, twiddling her hair around her finger in thought…or frustration. “Hello my dear, I apologize for keeping you waiting.” She rose to meet him, and he bent slightly to acknowledge her. Though he threw aside formality after that, unhooking his blade and resting it against the table. It was only going to get in the way of all the pacing and sitting the two were going to have to do. Somewhere off in the Practice Yards, he felt Kiren’s humor at something. Probably she was training with her own recruits. Her presence calmed him greatly, and instead of being firm and cold, he regarded Alisha with a determination and also a calm disposition. “So where do we stand on this issue with Eilienol and Asione? Anything new come from the Counsels messengers?”
Alisha Kovenant - October 23, 2004 07:51 PM (GMT)
Alisha stood and smiled at Rialt, a slight Glimmer in her eye , as Rialt entered and nodded as he said “Hello my dear, I apologize for keeping you waiting.”, not a problem she said, her voice silky smooth like the purr of a cat, and watched as he unhooked his sword belt and put it on the table and sat down. “So where do we stand on this issue with Eilienol and Asione? Anything new come from the Counsels messengers?” the man said inquiring about the two Asha'Man in the , unfortunate problem. Alisha reached over to a pile of paper and pulled one of them out and leaned over the table sliding the piece of paper across.
Alisha flicked her hair over her shoulder with a wave of her hand and waited for the man to read the paper. It was indeed a sticky problem, given the fact that in the past they had allowed this city to hold judgement over one of their members, at the time it seemed like a figt that was not worth fighting. However, as Alisha had said at the tie it set a bad precedent for future events, and gave Far Madding the excuse that they would try to pull something of the same sort at a later date. It had gotten to the point now, that it may have become neccesary to teach the council, that it was unwise to play with fire, in the manner in which they had assumed. She leaned back, he hands resting flat on the table, and she assumed a business like tone of voice all of a sudden. "As you can see, simply enough, this kind of behavious towards members of Tar Valon, is unnacceptable, and cannot be allowed to go on, it sets a bad example, and if we do not stamp it out, the dignity of the Towers will be shattered across the world. People simply, must not be allowed to believe that they can affront members, in such a manner, regardless of who they are. Also, seeing how these are channelers it is now neccesary to remind people, and all matters dealing with the one power are our sole jurisdiction, and any interference within our scope of authority will not be tolerated." She reached over to the pile of papers, and pulled out another piece, and handed it over to Rialt, this time not leaning over the table as she previously had.
"This is a draft of a demands that I have written, it demands that they hand back the members who they are holding or face severe concequences." Alisha said, crossing her arms across her chest and sitting back down. The tone of the note may be a little harsh however, leniancy only went so far. The pure fact of the matter was, she had heard rumours that people thought this was a sig of weakness, a crack within the face of the tower, and perhaps a sign that the tower wouldn't be having a hand in the events in the world of the future, and these people who thought this would soon have to be disabused of this idea, it simply would not happen, and the tower would continue to act on the better of the world, regardless, this small incident would be crushed, if they had to take the low road or the high road, regardless of the costs, the ends justified the means. "So, what do you think?"
Rialt Erydinan - December 28, 2004 09:28 AM (GMT)
As Rialt set down his Sword and belt on the table, Alisha offhandedly told him not to worry about his latecoming. That was good; he didn’t really need any more badgering by someone. He arrived when he arrived. Shrugging off the thought (It was annoying him) he took a place across the table from the pretty Gray and listened intently as she explained the situation, and what had transpired thus far. It seemed that the Counsel in Far Madding had their own plans for both Eilienol and Asione. Neither men had done anything wrong at all, which was one of the main things that infuriated Rialt to no end. He had not been able to think about anything else since the news of this unfortunate occurrence had reached his ears. He was used to people doing what they were told to do, but every now and then, someone stepped out of line, and Rialt saw to it that they never did so again. It was like defeating an enemy; you did not merely win the battle, you annihilated them until there was no chance that they could ever rise up against you again.
Rialt intended on making sure the Counsel in Far Madding knew who the ruling party was, knew that the Black and White Towers did not bargain, especially when it dealt with the lives of their own members. Alisha was right; they were walking a dangerous line, trying to tell the M’Hael and the Amyrlin what was going to happen. Alisha reached across the table and handed him the reports from the Counsel’s messengers. Reading over it, he began to formulate a plan of action. It was quite obvious that the Counsel of Far Madding had no intention of listening to the Towers demands, though Rialt and Alisha had no such reservations for them either.
"As you can see, simply enough, this kind of behavior towards members of Tar Valon, is unacceptable, and cannot be allowed to go on, it sets a bad example, and if we do not stamp it out, the dignity of the Towers will be shattered across the world.” She spoke, letting the words sink in as he stared at the page before him, pouring over it to make sure he had not misunderstood a single word or sentence. Alisha was correct, the world would loose its respect for the Towers as a whole if this issue was not resolved. They could give no leniency in the matter either, Far Madding would kneel to Tar Valon, or Tar Valon was going to send in its own army to take control of the situation. The Gray interrupted his thoughts though and handed him the return message she herself had scripted out. It was plain and simple, give up the Asha’man in question, or you will face the full wrath of the Duel Towers.
He nodded after reading it, and handed it back to her. It would be delivered by one of their own later that day. No time was wasted in the matter. They had two Aes Sedai as Travelers, making sure the information got back and forth to both parties as quickly as it was written. They would receive a response in as little as half a day, or perhaps not at all…indicating that Far Madding’s ruling Counsel was completely daft. Rialt hoped fervently that they would realize what mess they were getting themselves into…he did not want to spill blood over the matter. But for Eilienol and Asione, he would do whatever was necessary to remove them from harms way, including invading the light forsaken city with a force of Well-equipped* Gaidin, Aes Sedai, and Ash’man.
*Well as in the item that stores Saidin and Saidar so that they can channel in places that would otherwise prohibit it.
