History:
Kathera was born in Andor, and lived a quiet and calm life before deciding to go to the White Tower. She had learned she was a wilder at the age of fifteen. Her mother, an inn keeper, provided well enough for her little family, two boys and one girl. Kathera grew up sneaking out to tend the horses and being bossed into doing the dishes. Her joy, then, was horses and her mother, Elide, scolded her to no end about being unladylike.

She was well liked at a little town near Andor’s border and was well known as the ‘sweet little stable hand’. The townsfolk didn’t mind that her father left the town after she was born; some seemed to have forgotten the fact entirely. When she was younger, Kathera used to forget her father’s disappearance herself, but as she grew up, she noticed the difference between her family and her friends’.

Bullyboys never bothered her, and Kathera was always well aware of the fact that they respected her only for the black eyes she had given them in the past. The Galwyn family worked together well enough, between the spats of Kathera and her older brothers. Most of the time, Alo and Atreus looked after her in a brotherly fashion, though she never did give them much to protect her from.

The day after her fifteenth birthday was the day she learned that she was indeed a wilder. That day, a peddler came into town with a lame donkey, and bedded down at their inn, the Lost Traveler. Her brother, Alo, was given the task of tending the beast, and succeeded in getting himself kicked in the belly. Kathera came upon him in his wounded state, and unknowingly knelt at his side, taking his head in her hands, and channeled.

After that faithful day, Kathera was no longer the town’s favorite girl. Even though they knew of the Asha-man and Aes Sedai, they avoided her. So she lived on, not accumulating a block to the One Power, for she only felt disgruntlement at her neighbor’s actions. After all, her family did not seem to care, and that was all that mattered to Kathera.

The people that used to respect her for her talents with horses now seemed to vanish from her life, after the day she found out who she was, she never saw them again. The news spread fast, and not in Kathera's favor, though most channelers were respected. But she lived on, still tending the horses. She only channeled once or twice while she was at home, after the little accident, but it didn't help with how people out of her family now treated her.

On her sixteenth birthday, her mother announced that she was taking Kathera to the White Tower, for she did not approve of the way the townsfolk avoided her daughter. “There, it will be such a commonplace thing, and your life will be all the better for it.” So she was shipped to Tar Valon, and left standing, watching the sun fall behind its white wonder.

Kathera threw herself into becoming Accepted, determined to do her best. Of course, that didn't stop her from playing a prank, which resulted in her visit to the Mistress of the Novice's office. The novice became friends with Marian, who later became Accepted and then Aes Sedai of the Gray Ajah. Kathera did her best to learn about the One Power, and could usually be found haunting the library, looking for books on her favorite subject, the Dragon Reborn. The novice took several classes, as she wished to learn as much as she could while she was in the tower, as she was unsure about whether or not she would become Accepted and later Aes Sedai. As Marian was raised to Aes Sedai before she even became Accepted, Kathera was thrown into at state of depression. Later, after having a talk with Marian about continuing their friendship, Kathera once again worked hard to become Accepted, for she did not want to let her friend down. Her wish was granted, and soon Kathera found herself being led into the bedrock of the tower, for her testing. After surviving the three arches, Kathera earned her Great Serpent ring after seven years as a novice.

Kathera had a hard time dealing with the horrible deeds she had committed while testing to become an Accepted. She was unable to forgive herself until after she had a lengthy discussion with Marian on the Three Arches, though even after that she was very unsure about herself. After extensive research on the arches, Kathera could only accept that what was done was done. The Accepted moved on with her life and began to work to become an Aes Sedai. Though Kathera was an Accepted, she still could not fathom the possibility of becoming Aes Sedai. Aes Sedai were emotionless women, while Kathera could not help but describe herself as a spontaneous person that wore her emotions visibly. She knew well that it would be almost impossible for her to stay serene in the testing, but Kathera was willing to try. Many years passed, and Kathera realized that the Ajah she wished to join was the Brown. The library was as close to a home as she could think of, and Kathera wished only to always have access to such a place. For fear of loosing the right to visit the White Tower’s library, Kathera worked even harder toward becoming a sister. Her effort did not go unnoticed, for Kathera was taken once again to the depths of the Tower. The test was harder than even the Three Arches was for her, but Kathera managed best she could and became an Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah.

In the week after she became Aes Sedai, the other Browns chose her to be the Head of the Brown Ajah. The Sisters wished for someone that they could easily nudge in 'correct' directions and wouldn't complain about not being allowed more time in the library. However, after a few years of attempting to tame the Brown Ajah to accept her leadership, Kathera ran away from her responsibilites. In her eyes, the other sisters dispised her for attempting to gain control, and the Aes Sedai simply could stand it. After twenty years of traveling to the places that she had dreamed of as a novice, Kathera returned to the White Tower in disgrace.

However, only the the Brown Ajah knew the shameful truth about her nature, so when Cayana stepped down from the poisition of Mistress of Novices, Kathera was considered. It surprised her when she was asked to take the position, for Kathera thought that the Browns would find some way to spread the knowledge that she was not a true Aes Sedai because of her huge personality fault. Kathera accepted the position, as she wished to gain care in the eyes of the other Browns as well as the White Tower. Now, as the Mistress of Novices, Kathera labors to gain the favor of others.

Very nice :) It's a bit short, remember to add to it as you go along, but for now I say approved. :)

Rialt Erydinan - December 9, 2004 04:59 AM (GMT)
Mmmm *ponders over it* Its rather short, so i would encourage you to add more on to it. But as of now, i will approve it seeing as you add on to it as you progress.

My only comment is: Why is she so short? Isn't she a little short coming from Andor? (Considering Cairhienin are supposed to be at least a head shorter then the average Andoran. And the girl is 17 which means fully grown or almost fully grown...)

Just a thought, nothing else.
