Title: Breakfest
Description: ota
Miakoda - December 31, 2004 10:58 PM (GMT)
Miakoda was a bit late to the mess hall for breakfest. She was still not use to getting up this early, and going to bed so late. Though she had tried so many times to get herlself to bed at an early hour. But when sleep did take her it would take hours of Miakoda to get up and even more time for her to leave the warmth of her bed. The cold floor on her feet was something that she really never liked. In time though Miakoda knew that she would be use to it, and getting up early and going to bed late most of her time here. She was still amazed in how the tower really looked up close. The storys that she heard and read when she was little really could tell the truth to the beautie of such a wonderful place.
Standing in line with her simple white dress on and her culry hair taking over her face. Miakoda tried to pull it out of her way but strands would always find a way out and she just gave up trying to tie her hair back. Picking up a tray she stared to gather some breakfest food, warm purdge with some honey, nuts and dried berry's and some warm tea. It was a great breakfest, something that she was use to eatting and not so much at the beging of a new day. Once all the food was on her plate and tray she stayed from the line and went looking for a table. So many tables were full of people laughing and talking.
Miakoda never liked being new somwere and had a hard time making friends, for most the time her face was lost in some kind of book. Though she had no book to hide her face from the world. Scanning the the tables she saw that a few of the tables were with less people and she went to try her luck asking to seat with them. Still it was hard to know who was what, the only thing that she knew that all Novice wore White dresses like the one that she was wearing and the Accpeted wore a white dress with the bad of all seven ajah around the wrist and that was it. There were many people not in dresses and with weapons on them. Sighing she found a table that was empty and she hurried herself to take a seat. Placing her tray down she sat herself pulling her dress under neath her and said a small little pray and started to eat and think of how her day was going to go.
Alilisa Kardef - January 10, 2005 04:07 PM (GMT)
Alilisa made her way through the lunch line, the mess hall was starting to fill up again. She wanted to hurry and get her food so she could sit down. It had been a long day, and Alilisa just wanted to relaxe, even if it were just for a little bit.
Most of the tables were full, and Alilisa didn't like a whole lot of chatter. When she couldn't spot anyone she knew she made her was to a table with one young novice sitting at it. She hoped the girl wouldn't mind her sitting there.
Alilisa made her way over, sat her tray down then smoothed her dress and sat down. She smiled at the girl and said. "Hi, my name is Alilisa, you looked lonely so I decided to join you." Alilisa said. Alilisa was always trying to get to know the new novices, it was so lonely without friends.
Miakoda - January 13, 2005 02:00 PM (GMT)
Miakoda was moving food around her palte when someone walked up. Looking up with a little smile on her face when she had seen the simple plain white Novice Dress. Miakoda wondered to herself if she looked just as unhappy having to wear them and just a plain as the rest of the girls that were here. "Hi, my name is Alilisa, you looked lonely so I decided to join you." she smiled up and looked at her. "Hi! My name is Miakoda, do I look that lonley that I can be spotted out through the mess hall?" Miakoda was full of excmint that someone wanted to join her. She didn't mind at all that she was spootted up just a little red in the cheeks that she looked it.
Alilisa Kardef - January 14, 2005 03:50 PM (GMT)
Alilisa was glade to have someone to talk to. Alilisa studyed the food on her plate, was it safe?
"So how's your life as a novice been so far? I've been here for quite a while, and still can't get used to it." Alilisa said. She was tired of being a novice, but her lessons weren't even complete. Alilisa always thought that white drained out her color and made her dull. What was so important about wearing white? But Alilisa knew rules were rules.
She couldn't wait to become accepted.
Miakoda - January 17, 2005 05:04 AM (GMT)
"It's not as fun as it sounds, that is for sure. They have me and well us doing so many other things. It's hard to keep up and the tower is HUGE that I don't know where I am going, I'm late to classes. I'm just about to start training in the source. It's going to be harder as every day passes by. Or at least that is how it feels to me" Miakoda was feeling sick. She was tried with all the things that she was doing. She was new to all of this work, it was going to take her some time to get use to it, a lot of time.
She looked at her plate than looked at her new friends food it looked the same. She poked it and was waiting it for it move of her plate to go hide a small little giggle came from the thought and she tried to hid it before it came to a loud laugh. She watched her friend pokes her's too,
"Are you waiting for it to move as well?" Another small giggle found it's way out and she waited to see what Alilisa would say about that.
Alilisa Kardef - January 17, 2005 02:44 PM (GMT)
Alilisa giggled along with Miakoda. She was right about one thing, the food did almost look alive. Those Aes Sedai were terrible cooks, though she wouldn't say that to their faces. They looked so mean.
"Yes, I am waiting for it to just hop off my plate, are you sure they cooked this right?" She put her fork in the food and tried to lift it up, but the geletin like substance flopped right back on her plate. "I suppose if no one's died from eating it yet, then it should be alright." Alilisa said. Course, she had heard of an unfortunite novice who got sick from eating the food. Alilisa studied her water, it looked fine so she took a drink.
Alilisa set down her water and found her mind trying to wonder on her. She hated when she did that.
"What class do you have next?" Alilisa asked Mikoda. "My schedule for the day seems even fuller then before, I have to go to Seanchen class, and of course all we do is bookwork."
Miakoda - January 26, 2005 01:43 AM (GMT)
Miakoda laughed when the gell like stuff flopped from Alilisa fork. She poked at hers and waited it for to glare at her than attack. She poked it again with the fork and tried to get on her fork, that itself was a little harder thans he planed.
"I don't think I would have the guts to tell them they can't cook when I become Aes Sedai. I would be stilled and sent on my so called merry way to die." She giggled about that but it was really no lauging matter. She had read about the Aes Sedai's who had been stilled. A shiver went down spine just at that thought.
"I'm not sure what I really have next. I have not been sent to any classes yet. Most of them have been going on so long and I don't have the guts to walk in with a note from the Mistress of Novices. Though I have chorse. After that I think I am home free, more or less to hit the books in the libary."
Alilisa Kardef - January 26, 2005 04:51 PM (GMT)
Alilisa wondered about Miakoda's joke, she knew it wasn't a laughing matter, but still thought the idea of the Aes Sedai getting that mad was funny. Stilling would be horrible though. Alilisa couldn't imagine the shame that had to be involved in that, not being able to use the powers, not every feeling the joy of Saidir again.
Alilisa shook her head to clear her thoughts. It wasn't something she should worry about, right now she should worry about classes and her training.
"I have Saidar class later, and Nanaia Sedai would like some more to join I'm sure of it. Just come to that class, it hasn't even began being taught yet." Alilisa got a thoughtful look in her eye. "I suppose the Amyrilin wouldn't mind you joining her Talents class either, we only have two in that class. It would be nice to have someone to study with."
Alilisa realized that time was passing by quickly and began shoveling food in her mouth, but found the food so awful she made a face while swallowing it. She almost choaked, but washed it down with some water from her glass. These Aes Sedai are probably just trying to punish us in some way. Alilisa thought to herself. Why else would everything taste so awful?
Shaya - January 26, 2005 05:52 PM (GMT)
(ooc: hope you don't mind if I join in?, if you were in the middle of something, please just ignore the post )
Shaya realised she was late again, as usual. She would barely have time for breakfast now if she wanted to be in her classes on time. Not that it mattered much, for the things they passed for breakfast in the Tower were not something to get out of bed early for. She was not disappointed as she got her plate of food; it looked absolutely unappetizing. At least she could sit down for 5 minutes and have a mug of milk and some bread. At least the bread was baked fresh every day and was quite edible. She turned back to the Mess hall and scanned the tables for a place to sit. It was too early for her to feel really sociable, but she did not fancy a breakfast alone in silence either. There was very little chance to talk to anyone anyway.
She spotted two novices sitting at a table nearby and set a course for it. They looked like they were having fun together and she halted her progress at the last moment, wondering if she should interrupt or not. She finally gave a little shrug, if they did not want to talk to her she would find out soon enough. As she came closer she found that she recognised the slightly older novice from one of her classes. The girl had long brown hair that cascaded over her shoulders and back and shone softly in the Mess Hall’s light. She couldn’t remember speaking to her before, but then there were quite a few novices and it was easy to get lost in the sea of faces. The other one she definitely had not seen before. She too was a very pretty thing, although Shaya guessed she was no older than 15 or 16 summers. Her red hair would certainly attract some attention and Shaya envied her for the multitude of curls that framed a face with very fair skin. Her lips curled in a slight smile as she looked at the both of them as they looked up at her approach.
“Good morning, would you mind if I joined you? I won’t be long, I promise.” She waited for their reply before sitting down, although she would have been very surprised had they refused. Courtesy was strictly maintained even amongst the Novices who could drink each other’s blood, in public at least. All around her she could hear the soft murmur of people having quiet conversations over their food and she found she had to stifle a yawn. There was just no getting used to these early mornings! At least that was some benefit to being Aes Sedai, no one told you when to get up!
Miakoda - January 27, 2005 01:52 AM (GMT)
Miakoda listen to what Alilisa had to say about the two classes that wer going on, she was right about one thing, studing alone was no fun to her at all. She hated when she lived at home and would hate it more if she was going to be doing it here alone. She smiled at her and nodded her head. " I would love to join in those classes." Miakoda smiled at her and started to eat some more of well she guessed it would be called food. She looked up when she heard someone one coughing and almost fell over in a fit og giggles.
"I know it's bad but it't not that bad to kill you, not yet." she giggled over the words that were said still smiling.
Just after having some milk a voice that was not her's or Alilisa she looked up to see another girl, hair so black that it would be easy to get lost in, her skin was fair and very pretty indeed. She was older than Miakoda was. And she knew it. Though Miakoda would never of thought that she herself was just a novice. That is what it looked like. She was wearing a smiple white dress just like her, so simple and so plain that Miakoda would rather spill her breaksfest on it than eat it. "I don't mind at all please take a seat. I'm Miakoda." She was frieldy in her words and she ment them she only hopped that the new girl would think that she was too.
"Take as long as you want. I'm not going to say anything." she smiled at her and giggled again.
Alilisa Kardef - January 28, 2005 03:07 PM (GMT)
Alilisa smiled. She hoped Miakoda and her would become good friends, she seemed like such a nice person.
Alilisa heard someone say “Good morning, would you mind if I joined you? I won’t be long, I promise.” She looked up and say a girl with long black hair, and realized that it was a girl she had seen in some of her classes. Alilisa remembered the girls name was Shaya, but did not know much else about her. The tower was so vast, and there were so many novices it was impossible to meet them all.
Miakoda greeted the new girl, and Alilisa waited until she was done talking. Then she smiled at Shaya. "You are in one of my classes I think, if you don't already know who I am I'm Alilisa."
Alilisa was glade for more company, Alilisa liked and enjoyed talking with people, even if at times she was a bit shy. It wasn't her fault she had been so wrapped up in lessons, then maybe again it was. Alilisa had been working so hard that she had almost forgotten what being a novice was all about, having fun and meeting new people.
Shaya - January 28, 2005 06:20 PM (GMT)
Shaya sat down with a short nod to both of them. She was glad Allisa did mention her name again, for she had been trying to remember what the girl was called. Turning to Miakoda she said: “My name is Shaya, it’s nice to meet you Miakoda.” Her smile included both of them as she gestured to the food the girls were having. “Both of you are braver than I am when it comes to the things they try to pass as food here.” She took a sip from her milk and grimaced when she realised it was luke warm. She definitely preferred her milk cold. “Did you just arrive in the Tower Miakoda?” Shaya found that she was inclined to shorten the girl’s exotic name that rolled of her tongue in such a strange way. She was not sure she had the pronunciation right, but she thought it sounded the way Miakoda had said it at least. The mess hall was quite busy that morning and couple of recruits that sat at a nearby table were being rowdy as usual. Shaya raised an eyebrow and gave an amused smile as some of them turned to look at their table, only to give each other meaningful nudges and winks. Apparently her companions’ beauty had not gone unnoticed and she wondered if the girls were aware of the attention they were getting.
She smiled another smile that she hid behind her mug of milk and returned her attention to the women at her table. “I really hated the Tower when I first came here, but then I guess nobody enjoys having to study and do chores all the time, no matter what their background.” She hoped the statement would encourage the women to disclose a bit more about where they came from, she was always interested in people’s backgrounds and what had brought them to the Tower. She brushed her hair behind her ear and broke of a bit of the bread, at least that seemed to be quite edible.
Miakoda - January 29, 2005 02:32 AM (GMT)
Miakoda could only throw her head back and laugh when Shaya said that they were brave to eat this so called food. " I don't think that we have much of a choose here Shaya"Miakoda said trying to calm herself down. The name it self was very pretty and she herself was very pretty with such black hair so stright. At times Miakoda wanted to have stright hair but was never very good at getting to a near wave. Taking a sip of her drink Shaya had asked her soemthing. “Did you just arrive in the Tower Miakoda?” Smiling up at her she nodded her head. " Indded I have. The tower is so huge. I don't think I'll ever find myself getting to were I need to be before I'm to late." She blushed a little at that. Thinking to herself. They msut think of me as a fool when I say that. Getting lost such stupieded Miakoda came to watch how the two other Novices acted and said. She didn't want to do something stupid around them or an Aes Sedai or anyone who was higher rank of her, so as for now that would be everyone. A sigh came to her.
She followed Shaya's eyes to a near by table were there were some men being loud, things that men are good at doing. She rolled her eyes and turned her head back to the other two grils.
"Are all men here at the tower like that? Loud?" Miakoda asked. taking a bite of her food and thinking how stupid men could act, just to get a girls eye. As her mind drifted into other things a voice came up pulling her back to the real world. Shaya's “I really hated the Tower when I first came here, but then I guess nobody enjoys having to study and do chores all the time, no matter what their background.”
Taking a sip of her drink to clear her self Miakoda went to answer, even though it was not directed towards her, but to all. " I don't mind the whole studying part, I rather enjoy it. The libary is huge and full of so much things to read and learn. I use to love getting up early to watch the sun rise. But when they have you doing something else like laudery no one would want to get up than. Chorse early and chorse late. Its a wonder why someone hasn't deid from being so tried."
Alilisa Kardef - February 2, 2005 02:38 PM (GMT)
Alilisa sat and listened to the two girls talking, wondering if she should say anything or not, she didn't want to interupt. Some recruits at the other table were staring, and talking loudly besides that. Alilisa giggled a bit, just like silly girls do when they realize that there were cute boys about.
Then Miakoda made a comment about Its a wonder why someone hasn't deid from being so tried." and Alilisa had no chose but to let out a smile. It was true, with as much work as she had been given, Alilisa hadn't gotten much sleep. Besides that she had spent most nights up worring about becoming an Accepted.
Alilisa decided now it was time for her to speak. "I didn't like the tower much either when I first arrived, I miss my family who is back in Jehanna. I guess I'll really never stop missing them. Alilisa looked thoughtful for a second. "Where are you two from?"
Miakoda - February 7, 2005 03:36 PM (GMT)
"I know the same feeling as you do Alilisa. I miss them so much, but I was lucky enough to tell them that I was leaving for the tower to learn. When I left they had a smile on their face and was happy. HAPPY can you believe that, that their daughter was going to be an Aes Sedai. And they were the ones who told those storys about them. The ones that they tell you that they are scary and mean, blah blah blah." Maikoda shook her head after her stament and took anoher bite of her food.
Alilisa than asked something and Miakoda was thinking the same before she told her where she was from.
"Where are you two from?"
In a flat tone voice with some small pride,b ut you would have to listen very careful for it she simply said "Cairhein"
