Title: into the city (The City)
Description: Attn: Cayana
Radgar - February 4, 2005 09:36 AM (GMT)
Radgar wrapped a thick grey cloak around himself and wove the complex weaves nesesary to mask the glow. Walking down the halls he kept his head down and bowed to the Asha'man a lot lower than he would normally do. He was annoyed at having to bow to men he knew he equaled if not surpassed in the power, he compleatly ignored the lowly Soldiers and Dedicated he passed and soon found himself out of the tower and into the city. Walking down the streets he wasn't exacly sure what he was looking for. He hadn't been back a week and he was going nut bowing to that Asha'man or this Asha'man or having to listen to Dedicated he knew he could char without thinking. But what must be done must be done he wanted to survive for at least another few years.
Turning to his left he quickly walked down the street head held high and black hair flowly behind him in the soft wind. He soon forgot to hold his cloak and it flowed down behind him exposing who he truely was (at least who he pretended to be) Lost in thought his crisp blue eyes stared forward not really paying attention to anything. He lifted his hand and wiped a cold tear away from his face as his thoughts drifted to the death of his lost love. Just then he noticed a woman with flowing black hair walk into an Inn. His eyes opened wide with hope and he quickly followed her into the Inn, The Black Swan. Looking around he found her sitting alone at a table ordering her lunch. Walking up to her he had no expression on his face though his normally cold crisp blue eyes held a hint of hope in them but soon lost it when he realised it wasn't his Vivian. He didn't say anything as he started to turn around and leave but stopped suddenly when she questioned him "Soldier?"
Cayana Alhi - February 4, 2005 09:51 AM (GMT)
Cayana had been annoyed with herself this morning when she had realized that she had made sure the accepted, who she trusted enough to run errands for her, where all having chores, classes or other studies to do. Today she had a lot of errands in the city and so she had spent all her time until noon walking around fixing them on her own. At least I get to come away from the towers for a bit. She thought to herself as she once more stepped out of a building and started walking down the streets. It was noon now, and she had started to get hungry. As she still had a few errands left Cayana decided to have her midday meal in the city for once. Turning an other corner she spotted an inn she knew quite well. They served the best chicken in the city and she decided to have her meal there.
It was nice to walk through the doors inside. She felt how the warmth of the room was slowly warming her up from all her walking in the cold weather outside. Cayana didn't let herself mind the cold, even though she fully well knew that she had gotten a lot softer since arriving to Tar Valon so many years ago. It's no where near a Saldaean winter outside... she thought to herself as she asked one of the maids for some chicken and wine and had a seat by a corner table. As the girl walked away Cayana looked around the room as she was used to and spotted a soldier turning around. The place where he was standing was odd. Has he been following me? She thought to herself but pushed the thought away and called to him. "Soldier?" He wasn't supposed to be here anyway, to make sure the man got back to the towers properly was what she should do. Letting such things be had proved to be a bad thing in the past. As he turned around once more to face her she waved to him to come over. "Would you care to explain to me what you are doing here?" She asked him, looking straight into his eyes with a stern expression on her face.
Radgar - February 4, 2005 10:06 AM (GMT)
Radgar turned around slowly looking down his crisp blue eyes latched onto her own and he gazed at her with no expression on his face not even fear of punishment. Why fear when i have experianced pain far worse than they can dish out Radgars face still showed no emotion yet his eyes gave it all away. He was still filled with the pain of loosing someone he cared for even after so many years. Suddenly she broke the silence "Would you care to explain to me what you are doing here?" She asked him, really only then realising the stern expression on her face and the ring on her finger.
"Aes Sedai?" He asked, "I am out for a walk in the city." he said smoothly, "I could come up with a lie such as 'I am on an arrand for such and such an Asha'man' but I would only be caught. Best to tell the truth no? May I take a seat no need to waste a good lunch on my accound I would suspect you will be escorting me back to the Towers?" Taking a quick glance around the room he noticed the few poeple sitting around eating. He wondered what this place had that was worth the cost and he also wondered if she would let him sit and eat with her. Looking again into her dark eyes he wondered what she would say.
Cayana Alhi - February 4, 2005 10:20 AM (GMT)
"Aes Sedai?" He asked, and she just gave a very small nod. "I am out for a walk in the city." He said smoothly, and Cayana rose an eyebrow at him. He would say such a thing straight out to her? Not even an excuse? "I could come up with a lie such as 'I am on an arrand for such and such an Asha'man' but I would only be caught. Best to tell the truth no? May I take a seat no need to waste a good lunch on my accound I would suspect you will be escorting me back to the Towers?" Cayana smiled a weak smile. The guy was smart at least. After dealing with Shayas and other novices lies this was a refreshing experience. She gestured for him to be seated and the maid came back with her food as he did. As the woman had put the food on the table she turned to the soldier and asked. "Would you like something to eat, sir?" She didn't know the ranks of the tower and was most likely assuming he was either dedicated or Asha'man, if she even knew that difference.
The soldier looked over at Cayana, Cayana picked up her cup and didn't make any objections. But as he ordered she rose her eyebrow again. Cayana took a sip of her wine and studied him as the maid walked off again. "What is your name?" She asked setting the cup down and starting to eat. "You seem to at least partly know what's best for you, still I haven't seen you around the towers before. And you don't seem to know the rules all to well..." She took an other bite as she waited for a response. The man was certainly peculiar. At least he's respectful... She thought to herself remembering some things, but pushing the thoughts away, once more concentrating on the soldier.
Radgar - February 4, 2005 10:33 AM (GMT)
Radgar watched the maid approach with the Aes Sedais meal and was surprised that he was asked himself. must not be able to tell my rank he thought to himself. Glancing over at the Aes Sedai to see what her reaction was he looked back at the maid before speaking "I would like a Glace of spiced wine and what ever you have cooking as long as it is good." She seemed a little frazzled by his questioning of the quality of the meals surved here but she quickly went away to square off his order. Staying quiet he took the seat opposite her. Looking across the table he studied her in silence. She was beautiful an reminded him alot of his Vivian. He lost himself in thought only comming back to reality when she spoke once again.
"What is your name?" she asked he watched her set her cup down before answering. "I am Radgar Al'Exander, Aes Sedai." he answered before she spoke again saying "You seem to at least partly know what's best for you, still I haven't seen you around the towers before. And you don't seem to know the rules all to well..." Radgar was quiet a moment pondering how to answer before comming up with "I have not been at the Towers very long, I left 3 years ago and got fed up with hiding so i returned." Pausing a second a rebellious grin formed on his cold face. "I know perfectly well the rules of the Towers, Rules are ment to be broken" he paused again before muttering almost under his breath "the light hurts my eyes after so long." his face sunk back into the icy depths as he lost the small grin.
Cayana Alhi - February 4, 2005 10:47 AM (GMT)
The man introduced himself as Radgar Al'Exander. Her thoughts went directly to the bordeland title of al' before a name, marking royalty, but she knew quite well that there where no royal family of Exander in any of the boarderlands. Not unless he was from a new one, she hadn't heard of any such things of late though, so she assumed it wasn't quite what his name meant. As he went on she had just took an other sip of wine and almost choked on it as she understood what he was saying. Coughing once she looked straight at him, ignoring her food. "I know perfectly well the rules of the Towers, Rules are ment to be broken" he said and then muttered softly, even though she did pick up the words hurt and light. I should drag the boy up to Rialt instead of passing by the Master of Soldiers office if this is really true. If it was something the towers where strict with it was runaways. That he had used light and hurt muttering something after saying such a thing to her would make sense, most runaways where flogged in front of the others when they where found, then punished with enough chores to barely give them time for meals during the day. "You're telling me you ran away and are skipping your punishment chores now when you are back? or was the Master of Soldiers lenient with you upon your return?" Her eyes where slightly cold, but the surprised expression told that it wasn't Radgars words as much as it was what he was telling about that had affected her.
Radgar - February 4, 2005 10:59 AM (GMT)
"You're telling me you ran away and are skipping your punishment chores now when you are back? or was the Master of Soldiers lenient with you upon your return?" she said coolly. Radgar looked up into her cold eyes as he realised he had just took a step into the fire. Radgars mind started racing for ways to step out of the flames. He hadn't been careful enough when speaking. He often says things to casually with out realising they could burn him. Shaking his head he watched the Maid approach with his lunch it looked to be some sort of beef stew. Taking it he placed it in front of him then took a quick swip of his spiced wine before looking back at the Aes Sedai.
"I have not yet been assigned a punishement so no i'm not skipping punishement I will do what I must nothing can hurt me after...." He feel silent and his eye slowered he lifted his hand and brushed his hair out of his face hiding the fact that he really was removing a tear before she could see. "I didn't really run away exactly I see it as walking away from the graveyard so to speak. It is hard to explain so I'll leave it as 'If I would have stayed I would have died.' I don't know about you but I perfer life." Radgar paused and looked into her eyes "I have not heard your name." He said quietly, "I would like to know it if it pleases the light."
Cayana Alhi - February 5, 2005 09:05 AM (GMT)
As Radgar looked into her eyes once more it was obvious that he regretted what he had said. In silence she waited for a responce and the maid had time to serve him his stew and wine, and he even drank a little before responding. He might have needed it for strength. "I have not yet been assigned a punishement so no i'm not skipping punishement I will do what I must nothing can hurt me after...." He broke off, fell silent again and tried to avoid letting her see him cry by supposedly brushing some hair out of his face. Cayana had seen it coming already as he spoke how ever, what ever he had been about to say it was painful. Cayana was used to this kind of display, most people didn't like their pride taken away by crying in front of authority persons. Trying to explain himself Radgar continued however. "I didn't really run away exactly I see it as walking away from the graveyard so to speak. It is hard to explain so I'll leave it as 'If I would have stayed I would have died.' I don't know about you but I perfer life." How many runaways had said the same upon return? How many had not had the chance to before they got punished, flogged publicly for others to see so that the rule break would never be repeated. During her own time in the tower no novices or Accepted had returned from running away, so she had been spared the sight. However she knew that if any novice or Accepted did run away and was returned it was upon her to sentence the girl and perhaps even cary the punishment out.
As Cayana didn't respond Radgar looked into her eyes again and spoke quietly. "I have not heard your name. I would like to know it if it pleases the light." Cayana grimaced slightly. Three years ago she hadn't been the Mistress of Novices and so Radgar wouldn't have known her face by that, nor her name. If Radgar had heard of her at all it would have been like any of the rumors about the greens floating around the towers male population, and in some degree among the novices and Accepted as well. "I'm Cayana Alhi," She said, "the Mistress of Novices." She left the fact about being green out this time. If he was interested he could find out from almost anyone. Official persons around the towers where well known.
She turned her attention back to her food once more but interupted the silence again after a short while. "Why did you return if you truly fear dying here?" She asked him, glancing towards him as she spoke, then continuing eating so that the food wouldn't get to cold before they had finished this meal and conversation.
Radgar - February 5, 2005 10:17 AM (GMT)
Radgar listened to her speak her name and repeated it over in his head a few times so that he would remember it. It was just his luck to run into the Mistress of Novices. He lifted his hand and brushed his hair away from his face before lifting up his spoon to take bite of his beef stew. It was surprisingly good he would have to remember the name of this inn and come back sometime. Radgar looked across and lost himself in thought once again though this time he stayed on happier subjects. The beauty of the woman on the other side of him was almost unsettling for him. Radgar started eating slowly enjoying the silence around him as they both thought over a few things. Knowing that he had probaby dug a bigger hole than he ment he tried to think of ways to get out of this situation. Comming up only with stupid answers that would only get him killed if he attempted any of them. Resting his elbow on the table and scratching his chin for a second he watched her every movment.
"Why did you return if you truly fear dying here?" she said causing him to blink. "why did I return? well the simple answer is I got tired of hiding from death. It will find us all eventually though i suspect that it'll find me before deaths hand ever carresses your beautiful face. Even now i'm in danger and you just by sitting there could be caught in the cross fire though you probably think i'm being over dramatic" He stopped and laughed then stopped and gazed into her eyes seriously to see if she believed him.
Cayana Alhi - February 5, 2005 10:31 AM (GMT)
He blinked at her question, quite surprised that she had asked and Cayana felt a slight amusement over it. He thought I wouldn't? He did find himself an answer quite quickly. "Why did I return? well the simple answer is I got tired of hiding from death. It will find us all eventually though i suspect that it'll find me before deaths hand ever carresses your beautiful face." She looked at him again, without looking away this time. Why was he giving her complements? What was he about to say that he would need to soften her for? "Even now I'm in danger and you just by sitting there could be caught in the cross fire though you probably think I'm being over dramatic." She rose an eyebrow again, then spoke softly to answer him. "Why would anyone in the Black Tower want to hurt you boy?" And risk the wrath of the White tower for attacking an Aes Sedai openly in Tar Valon? The person would be on the chair before nightfall and killed if not stilled quite soon after. You didn't try to murder anyone in Tar Valon if you valued your life. Especially not if you where apart of the towers and wanted to stay there.
Cayana knew very well that who'd ever hurt her, even unintentionally probably would upset Rialt. She knew very well that she reacted herself on anything that might have hurt Rialt, and he surely did care for her, even if he had never wanted her to see the light of day in the first place. A thought went out to her father, wondering where and how he was, she hadn't seen him in a while and she had actually come to miss their conversations. It does feel weird to miss a man I had no idea was my father just a year ago. The last year surely had been quite packed with new things and turning points, as well as death and sad things. It doesn't look like the next one will be getting any better.
Radgar - February 5, 2005 10:44 AM (GMT)
Radgars eyes shot wide open when she mentioned the Towers. He started laughing loudly everyone in the Inn looked over at the table then quickly looked away when they realised it was a man dressed like an Asha'man doing the laughing. He stopped suddenly locking his crisp blue eyes onto hers "You really think i could be that nieve to believe the towers are out to get me?" he paused taking a slow sip of his wine and watching her. "Do you believe in darkness?" She answered positivly and raised her eyebrow questioningly, "Do you beleive in the Black Ajah or what ever these Asha'man fools have instead. If you don't then you yourself are nieve. I ran from darkness I ran from death."
Radgar looked down at his plate and started eating letting her digest what he had just said. She seemed to be a little surprised by his answer and he didn't blame her. He just wondered how much info he would have to share before this younge womans curiosity ended. Though he almost wished it didn't. Sitting here accross from her reminded him of happier times though the subject of their conversation was turning dark. Cursing his hair he lifted his hand and brushed it slowly away from his face before he gazed again into her deep eyes loosing himself until she answered.
Cayana Alhi - February 5, 2005 10:59 AM (GMT)
The man started laughing. Cayana didn't blame him, the conversation was truly strange, but suddenly he stopped and looked straight into her eyes. "You really think i could be that nieve to believe the towers are out to get me?" She didn't respond, as it was clear he would continue, and probably drag himself into an even worse situation by it. The man took a sip of wine and did continue. "Do you believe in darkness?" At that Cayana leaned back and eyed him. Growing up in the boarderlands Cayana had learned to hate anything connected to the Dark One. "Do you beleive in the Black Ajah or what ever these Asha'man fools have instead. If you don't then you yourself are nieve. I ran from darkness I ran from death." He looked down and continued to eat letting Cayana have some time to think on what he had said. If he hadn't noticed his laughter had drawn eyes and now the entire common room was quiet, they where waiting for Cayana to say that there was no such thing as Black Aes Sedai or Asha'man. They where afraid.
"Watch your tongue soldier." She said and the intonation on the soldier part made the people relax somewhat. Slowly the buzzing around them picked up again. Speaking softly, making sure that only Radgar would hear her words she said. "Unless you truly want to get killed by calling to the attention of Dark Friends, no matter their rank, I suggest you be a bit more careful with how you speak." Being called naive by a soldier, even if she did truly believe that there where a Black Ajah as well as Shen. The entire purpose and existence of the Red Ajah depends on that fact. A quite disturbing thought really, the towers where connected because of the Dark Friends trying to destroy all that which she worked for. "What I think about the Black Ajah, and it's existence is none of your concern, but truly boy. What would you have done to pull the attention of them towards you?" No Black Ajah had been found during the past 10 years. Not one that had been presented to the Hall anyway. What went on behind closed doors of the Reds she had no idea. Radgars 'truthful' speaking started to make Cayana feel that it was all lies, he might be pulling her leg after all, just for the fun of it.
Radgar - February 5, 2005 11:43 AM (GMT)
Radgar sat and listened the silence he had caused by mentioned those that served the darkone in the towers. Shaking his head he realized then that the Towers wove an illusion to hide the fact that there were in fact darkfriends in the towers. He listened quietly as Cayana spoke to him taking in everything she said. He looked around the room again and eyed a few people watching them. He figured that they had no business listening to them and the truth must come out sometimes...Though the Aes Sedai didn't believe that and found words to calm down those around them and at the same time answer him somewhat. "Unless you truly want to get killed by calling to the attention of Dark Friends, no matter their rank, I suggest you be a bit more careful with how you speak." Radgar nodded understanding what she was saying perfectly fine. Sighing he took a sip of his wine and brushed his hair out of his face.
"What I think about the Black Ajah, and it's existence is none of your concern, but truly boy. What would you have done to pull the attention of them towards you?" Radgar sighed again what should i tell you? he asked himself thinking. He looked up into her questioning eyes and gazed at her in thought. He knew he better not take to long coming up with an answer...."Have you ever done something because you were confused and scared and angry. Because you lost something nothing could replace and someone offered their help?" He didn't move his eyes away from hers, he didn't blink. His crisp blue eyes drilled into hers as he awaited her answer.
Cayana Alhi - February 5, 2005 12:14 PM (GMT)
The man sighed at her. Was he annoyed with her questions? It started to seem so. However when he answered he was so serious that she couldn't help but to feel that she should perhaps not be questioning if he was speaking the truth or not. "Have you ever done something because you were confused and scared and angry. Because you lost something nothing could replace and someone offered their help?" Cayana shook her head. "No," She replied. She hadn't ever been helped with anything she had lost in that way. All the turmoils in her life had been hers to bare alone. Always. Even when she found out that Lord Alhi wasn't even her father, that some strange man somewhere in the Towers had impregnated her mother and she had been sent away and married off before Cayana had been born. No, no one had ever put her in any such position. Never. She was strong and could take care of herself even with loss, confusion, anger and fear raging through her. She would not have survived the arches had she not.
Radgar didn't hesitate for long before answering her. "Then you would probably never understand the why's of what happened so be content with my silence." She looked at him questioningly. Suddenly the man chose to be mysterious. After digging himself into a whole so deep he suddenly decided to keep silent? This fellow truly was strange. "Fine eat up, I don't have all day." She said and waited for him to finish his meal. She wasn't hungry anymore. Some how the conversation had made her loose her appetite. Thoughts of the Dark One and the vile people who followed him and his creatures made her want to seek them up and kill them all. But she had already come to terms with knowing she had no business doing that as long as she was the Mistress of Novices, until she resigned or was asked to, she'd not be going back to the boarderlands in an attempt to rid the world of shadowspawn, nor would she be trying to find darkfriends or anything else of that sort. No, she had her place, she would have to be at peace with that.
When they had finished Cayana payed the maid and left with Radgar following her. "I still have some things I need to take care off before I can return to the Towers. You will be accompanying me." She said to him as she walked off down the street towards the south harbor. She was quiet as she walked along the streets and only made a stop every here and there to go into a shop or a building to deal with some of her errands. Bargaining with shopkeepers or merchants was the only time she spoke at all. When they left to continue on she only gestured for Radgar to follow her. No one questioned the presence of Radgar with her, but some did eye him suspiciously, all the people Cayana was dealing with now knew the ranks of the towers well and could tell a soldier from an Asha'man as easy as a green apple from a red one. Cayana wouldn't be surprised to hear rumors about her getting herself a warder finally, or amazing stories how she had caught the soldier doing something in town, as if the soldier being there wasn't odd enough when it wasn't a free day. Eventually she was finished and they where still a long way from the Towers. First now did she allow herself to speak to him again. "I hope you don't mind odd rumors, we probably have set some off today." She gave him a weak smile as her pace slowed down now when she only had one thing left to do, bring Radgar to the Black Tower.
Radgar - February 6, 2005 05:26 AM (GMT)
Radgar listened to her answer and quickly replied "Then you would probably never understand the why's of what happened so be content with my silence." she looked at him questioningly but he didn't explain any farther. He watched her for a few moments not fully understanding her. He started to eat slowly but quickened up a bit when she told him too. As soon as he finished she paid for the meal I'll have to pay her back he thought to himself as he followed her out of the inn and into the streets.
It didn't really matter to him how long it took to go to the tower or not. He followed the Aes Sedai around the city in silence keeping a sharp eye out for any danger. He did not want the Aes Sedai to get caught up in anything directed at him. Each time they went into a store or other building some of the people eyed him questioningly all he did was gaze back into their eyes until they flinched and looked away. When she finally finished her rounds of the city they where a good way away from the towers. Finally she broke the silence "I hope you don't mind odd rumors, we probably have set some off today." He looked down at her smiling weakly up at him. Shrugging his shoulders he grinned back and said "Rumors don't bother me much." he said quitly trying a small grin. "Do you mind if we take some side roads to get back to the tower quicker I have a bad feeling." He asked her suddenly and she gave her ok so they set off up the side road. He walked quickly and she almost had a hard time keeping up. Radgar took a quick behind them before grabbing Cayana's arm he pulled her into a narrow ally and turned to face the entrance. Putting up his arm for her to be silent he grasped ahold of the river that was Saidin. He felt more alive feeling as if he would be consumed by the ice and fire. "We are being followed" He said just as four men turned the corner.
"What do you want?" he demanded of them.
"You know perfectly well what we want Blackdragon." He leader of the four said to him coldly
"That is not my name anymore" He said forming a firey sword in his hand. "I told you I do not want any part of this any more leave me be."
"You know we can't do that." The leader said calmly. Radgars face twisted in rage his sword turned into a long flaming whip that he lashed out at the man with. It stopped a foot above the mans head as if blocked by air.
"Cayana run, go to the tower" Radgar said to the woman behind him as he squared off with the four men.
Cayana Alhi - February 6, 2005 11:29 AM (GMT)
The mans grin made Cayana guess what he was going to say before he even did. She shook her head quietly until suddenly he spoke. "Do you mind if we take some side roads to get back to the tower quicker? I have a bad feeling." Cayana shrugged, "Not at all, it's getting late so the quicker the better, I guess." At that they started walking up the side road but Radgar was quickening his pace a lot. Light, you're walking like you are being hunted.... She was half running already when he suddenly pulled her into a narrow ally by her arm. "What's going on Radgar?" She asked him softly and he responded just as four men turned the corner to show he was speaking the truth. "We are being followed." With a nod and an expression showing that that part was obvious she said "So it would seem..."
A short set of words where exchanged between the five men. One thing Cayana noticed was the name which they called Radgar. Blackdragon...? The soldier was now channeling, with a lot more ease then a soldier should be able to. Cayana didn't do as he told her though, even though she did take a step back as she embraced saidar. Why would I run? She thought as she hurled off a fireball towards one of the four men that where attacking them.
It was clear that the four knew she was channeling, which meant they all four where channelers. Radgar where already taking a position to fight them as the fire ball hit a wall just a few inches from the man she had aimed at. He turned at her, annoyed at being interrupted. Weaving fast she put up a shield, and just in time as the man tired to hit her with a ball of air.
Are they stupid? Everyone will notice this fight, especially since it's inside Tar Valon! The man didn't seem to care though as he gestured towards her again and the shield was hit a second time, harder this time. Cayana took a step back and let her eyes go to the battle Radgar was handling. He actually was handling it. Which surprised Cayana, though, she was fighting a male who hadn't even tried shielding her. Why? aren't they strong enough? She thought as she saw the shield wobbling and and disappearing. Weaving spirit just in the nick of time she managed to find the weave the man was using and as she had suspected the man wasn't stronger then her. He was her equal, which was the reason he hadn't tired this the first thing he did. Dedicated? She thought to herself as she fought to keep herself from getting shielded at the same time as she tried forming a second weave. It was difficult, the man was strong and nothing to play with, that was clear.
The man hadn't stopped walking towards her, which was the reason she was trying to make a second weave. He was only a few paces away when Cayana started backing up in order for him not to get to close. He quickened his pace however, but as he did he pulled away his attention on his weave for a moment and Cayana managed to finish her second weave without getting blocked. Quickly she covered the mans eyes and he grunted as she took a few quick steps to the side. He had dropped his weave and Cayana could use her full strength once more. Without sight he couldn't see the flows, without seeing the flows he couldn't weave.
What Cayana hadn't thought of was that she was no longer paying attention to the other three Radgar was fighting as well as that her shoes made clear sounds against the ground. The 'blinded' man swung at her and only missed by an inch. Taking a few soft steps back he didn't hear her and pulled his knife. Cayana was now on the other side, her back facing Radgar and the three men. She started weaving more flows of air as she felt something tightening around her chest. She couldn't breath, the flows where getting tighter and had to drop all thought of putting the the 'blinded' man out of action as she was lifted off the ground.
Radgar - February 7, 2005 10:41 AM (GMT)
Radgar drew on more of the power drawing close to his limit, he was standing on the edge of a blade on one side stood ecstasy and on the other fiery pain. Looking at the three men he faced he eyed each of them in turn as he wove fire and air. Out of the palm of his hand grew tentacles of fire, he reached back and threw his arm forward causing the red and orange strings to launch forward towards the men he faced. Black marks surfaced as the tentacles of fire burned into the stone but not into the men having been blocked by air once again. Putting up his own shield of air he blocked the fire balls and other interesting weaves they threw at him. He formed air into a tight ball the size of his fist, around which he wove fire and air causing the ally to explode in the light of the now head sized ball of fire. Closing his fist he tightened the weaves holding the ball of air together before sending it flying towards the men. As it hit the shield it exploded in all directions searing everything the fire touched. Blocked by his own shield Radgar charged forward towards the men again forming the fiery sword in his hands. The explosion of fire had startled them giving Radgar just enough time to get close and rip through one of the men with his sword.
He had forgotten about Cayana for the half minute it took him to cause the death of one of the darkfriends. He heard her grunt softly behind him his power enhanced hearing picking it up with ease. Turning quickly to look he saw the woman in the air slowly being crushed by the man. Rage filled him as he watched, he reached farther into himself grasping more of saidin. He stepped off the edge of the blade into fire and pain. He wove fire, air and spirit together and flung it towards the man. Taken by surprise he had no time to react before it hit him. Roasting the mans organs he soon died falling to the ground. He turned to the other two, one was running the other was looking at him with terror plain on his face. He heard a dull thud behind him and didn't register the fact that Cayana had just dropped to the ground hard. He struck out at the man with spirit weaving a strong block and started to walk towards him. Standing in front of the man Radgar looked into his eyes as he wove air and water together filling the mans lungs with air the consistency of jelly. The man clutched at his throat gasping for air. Then realizing he was going to die he reached down and grabbed a hold of his dagger driving the short blade into Radgars shoulder. To filled with rage to feel or care about it he continued to hold the weave until the man stopped moving.
Taking a deep breath he calmed down, cursing as he finally felt the blade inside of him he reached up and pulled it out throwing it to the ground beside the man he just killed. He turned around and looked at Cayana laying on the ground all thought of pain and anger left him only to be filled with fear. He ran up to her and picked her up slowly blood running down his arm staining her dress. He looked into her eyes as she opened them slowly he sighed in relief as he asked her softly if she was ok.
Cayana Alhi - February 7, 2005 07:13 PM (GMT)
She wove spirit to try and cut the flows holding her, realizing after a number of tries that she couldn't cut off enough air flows to become free she let go of saidar. She didn't want to lose her control so much from the lack of air to do something stupid, like burn herself out or so. Only a few seconds later she heard a man scream, but then everything was black.
She floated in darkness but in the distance she felt her head pounding, her hand hurting. Time seemed to go slowly. Someone picked her up and she started to realize that she could wake up. Slowly she opened her eyes and looked at the man holding her. Her head was hurt, she had probably hit it in the ground, and her wrist was sprained but other then that she was fine. The eyes that met hers was filled with fear until he realized that she was awake and let go of a sigh filled with relief. He asked her if she was alright and Cayana tried to get up.
What happened? her thoughts where slow
... then it all came back
oh right... "I'll be alright, are you hurt?" She said as she turned to him again. It only took a moment for her to see the amount of blood running down his arm from his shoulder. "Sit still." She ordered him as she embraced saidar. It was a bit painful for her head, but she had enough control to use it. Forming a weave of healing she let it sink into the cut that was obvious. He didn't seem to be hurt in any other way. She watched his entire body tighten as she healed him. She knew fully well the feeling of healing between sexes. It was awful really, but at least the result would make the cost worth while. Soon the wound was hole and since he didn't seem to be bleeding anywhere else she stopped. "Are you hurt in any other way?" She asked as a number of men came in running, Asha'man.
"What's going on here?" The captain demanded. Cayana looked at him wearily as she let go of saidar, then looked around before looking back at the man. "We where attacked, darkfriends I presume." She answered him. The men standing behind him where eyeing the scene and checking the dead bodies. "This is Walie, he disappeared two years ago...!" One of them whispered to an other. None of the men wanted to show it but it was obvious that the man, being roasted from the inside made everyone present a little queasy. The captain ordered the men to pick up the dead bodies, asked politely if Radgar and Cayana could walk properly. Then they wrapped up the bodies in illusion weaves and carried the bodies with them as they escorted Cayana and Radgar back to the Black Tower, where they probably would be questioned.
I wonder who will be dealing with this... In the back of her mind she hoped it wouldn't be Rialt.
The first time I have been attacked and I pass out.... She felt quite embarrassed over it, but what ever happened that part would be told, however other parts might be avoided. In the corner of her eye she watched Radgar who had been wise enough to let her carry on the conversation as the Asha'man arrived.
As they where walking Cayana felt her hand and head pounding but she didn't show the pain with so much as a gaze towards her hand or a twitch in her face. She hated not being able to scream out the pain, but she was Aes Sedai, obviously recognized by these Asha'man, or the captain at least, and she couldn't all to well let them know she was hurt.
It's not so bad, it could have been way worse, she thought to herself as they walked through the gates. Eyes followed them naturally, but no one payed the audience any mind and the young one's where soon ordered by their elders to keep on with their training, or chores or what ever they had to do.
It wasn't long until Cayana and Radgar where sitting alone in a room waiting for the Asha'man to take care of the bodies and report to both their superiors and send a message to the White Tower. Naturally the message to the White Tower would reach the proper authorities after it reached the Asha'man authorities, but it didn't make any difference to Cayana at the moment. She just sat down next to the table and eyed Radgar. "Does anyone besides me know about that which you already told me?" She asked him. Something was odd with how the soldier had managed to kill two men, without getting more then a knife in his shoulder.
If the Asha'man felt the concentration of saidin being used who ever he is will be exposed... After an other moment she couldn't help but to wonder.
Who is he? In the back of her mind his words echoed
'Then you would probably never understand the why's of what happened so be content with my silence.' Fingering her wrist she thought.
You won't be able to keep silent now....((OOC: this thread continues here:
