Title: Kathera's and Aryatha's and Naishee's Room
Description: (WT Dormitories)
Kathera Galwyn - February 15, 2005 12:07 AM (GMT)
(ooc: in case you don't know what I'm talking about here, check your messages, Alilisa.)
Kathera sat uneasily on the bed, waiting for her roommate to apear. Really, Kathera had turned all three of them in for their punishment, and the small novice didn't expect anything good to come of it. Well, perhaps Alilisa would forgive her about it. Probably not. But you could hope. Yes, hope was something good, in these sorts of times. Ah... hope wouldn't change the future, though. Getting slowly up of the bed, the red haired girl paced the small room slowly. Glancing at the door again and again, Kathera began to plan what to say. Something about not meaning to be a trouble.. No, that wouldn't work. It would be best to give the whole truth. Kathera had turned them all in. There was nothing else to say.
Alilisa Kardef - February 16, 2005 02:23 PM (GMT)
Alilisa hung her head and walked through the halls, she was upset and angry all at the same time. How could she have gotten into so much trouble, it wasn't like she meant to do the prank, she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. But her uttered plees went unheard by the Mistress of Novices.
Alilisa trudged to her room, the remaints of tears on her face. She had never liked getting into trouble, and was a very sensitive girl.
Alilisa opened the door to her room, and at once remembered she had been assigned a new roomate. Kathera was sitting on a bed as if waiting for Alilisa to get back. Alilisa wasn't in the mood to talk, she wasn't really mad at Kathera, Alilisa would have done the same. She was just upset that she had gotten into trouble when she hadn't really meant to do a prank.
Alilisa flung herself face down on her bed and didn't move. She was so upset she didn't know if she'd ever get up.
Kathera Galwyn - February 25, 2005 10:57 PM (GMT)
Kathera stared as her fellow novice trudged through the door. She had gotten four hours of kitchen duty every day until Cayana Sedai thought to end it, and Alilisa looked like the sky had fallen. Tipptoeing over to the other girl's bed, Kathera peered at her roommate. "Alilisa..." she began, "I'm rather sorry about this. I know you were only in the wrong place at the wrong time, and I know that you shouldn't have gotten puinished." A sigh escaping, the novice continued. "Also, Cayana Sedai already knew all three of us had done it when I went to turn myself in. I'm sorry... I really am." Looking down at her roommate, the red haired girl stiffled a groan and trudged back to her bed, sprawling in rather the same position as Alilisa. Sighing tiredly, she covered her eyes with a hand and waited for the awnser.
Really, this past few days had been horrible. To have four hours of kitchen duty and to have to turn her friends in? She really couldn't think of a worse punishment. Well, she still had Marian, even if she was Accepted. Oh, they were all getting diferences so fast. It made her want to sit down and cry. And even though Cayana said she probably wouldn't be put out of the tower, Kathera really didn't think she would ever become Accepted with her best friend. Perhaps she would when Marian became Aes Sedai. Then there would really not be any freindship between them.... One could carry on a freindship between a novice and an Accepted, but novice and Aes Sedai? Kathera didn't think so.
Alilisa Kardef - February 28, 2005 04:25 PM (GMT)
Alilisa sat up and wiped the remaining tears off her face. What a fool she must have looked crying like a baby. Kathera immediatly apolozized to her, and went over and layed a hand on Kathera's back. "I know you did what you had to do, I would have probably did the same thing in your situation." Alilisa said. "This is the first time I've ever gotten in trouble her, so don't mind my crying I'm kindof in shock." Alilisa managed to give Kathera a weak smile. "I knew what you two were doing, I just failed to stay away, so it's partially my fault." Alilisa looked around the room, everything seemed so neat and pretty. She wasn't used to having a roomate that would actually talk to her, what anger she had quickly melted away when she realized that perhaps tomorrow everything would be okay again.
"It's okay, now all we have to do is put this behind us." Alilisa sat back down on her bed and wondered if Kathera was going to get up her not. She didn't like seeing the girl so depressed because of her. If there was one thing she couldn't stand, it was people getting upset at her expense.
Kathera Galwyn - March 1, 2005 12:43 AM (GMT)
Kathera brightened, but couldn't help look a little dubious. "Are you sure? I mean... Well, I landed you in trouble..." the novice trailed away, staring at her roommate rather suspiciously. Sighing, she sat up on the bed. "okay, okay...." she muttered. "Well, I still feel bad about it." She gave Alilisa a little smile. "But at least I don't feel so bad, anymore." Getting off the bed, she began to pace. "Urg... I have kitchen duty today." Sighing, Kathera turned to her roommate. "An the next... and the next...." Trailing off once again, the novice sat down on the rug with a thump. Glancing up at the other girl's face, she couldn't help but complain. "You wonder if we're going to be eighty by the time we become Aes Sedai."
That ugly thought in mind, Kathera silenced herself and stared moodily at the floor. Her punishment was going to be a long one, but perhaps Alilisa's wouldn't be.
Aryatha Kalden - March 17, 2005 11:05 PM (GMT)
The way up to the dormitories was longer than she had expected and by the end of it, Aryatha was a bit tired. Carrying her bags had made it all the more difficult. The Aes Sedai had told her not to pack too heavy since there was always the chance of bandits on the road and she wouldn't be able to keep much in the Tower anyways and she had followed that advice. It had not stopped the Aes Sedai from taking a few of her things however saying that they "were not fit for a novice to have" whatever that was supposed to secretly mean. She had thought about it for a while when she was going up the stairs, but she had eventually decided it was just some way for Aes Sedai to make her life as a novice more miserable. Why else would they do that? Clearing her thoughts of all that thought, she tried to remember the directions to the room she had been given. "Go all the way down the hallway, make two rights, and then it should be the first door on the right. Either that or you take only one right and it's the third door on the left. Or maybe..." At that point, Aryatha had blocked out the girl and left not even bothering to give an appology for suddenly leaving. The other novice wasn't upper class so it didn't truly matter anyways. What could a mear peasent do to her? Absolutely nothing she thought with an mean smile. Hopefully, the girl had been right on her first guess for that was where she was going. If not, she could always ask where the room was.
After reaching the door and asking, nicely in her opinion, the door had been slammed in her face with the words "bloody nobles with their noses too high in the air" mummbled behind the door. Aryatha, angry from the event, had wanted to shout through the wood for the girl to say that to her face, but she didn't because there was always the chance that the girl would. That, would just make her look even more like a fool and that was not needed. Desperately trying to gain a cool face, she repeated the first novice's words in her mind and moved in that direction. This had better be the right room, she thought to herself while glaring at anyone who might happen to pass by. A few of them just gave her odd looks, but a few who had seen the earlier event just smiled fueling her earlier anger. She eventually managed to put it out of her mind however when she reached the door of what she hoped was her new room. She knocked on the door lightly and entered when she was bid to do so. "Are you Kathera and if not do you know where her room is?" Her words were on the edge of pleading for her and she prayed to the Light that this girl wouldn't yell at her or slam the door in her face. Once was enough.
Kathera Galwyn - March 18, 2005 02:34 AM (GMT)
Kathera opened the door tiredly at the knock. The other novice spoke, looking rather pleading. After hearing the question, the novice gave her a welcoming grin, thinking that she really needed. "That would be me.. and I at least think this is my room." Opening the door to let her in, the red-haired girl looked over the new novice, rather hopefully. Her only feal friend was Accepted at the moment, and it would be good to get to know another novice like herself. Still smiling, she sat down on her bed, bouncing. "Your Aryatha, right?" She didn't really mind if she'd gotten the name wrong.. the novice looked nice, and she was all ready to shoe her 'the ways' of the tower. Having a new friend would be good, and having a bit of social interaction would be even better. Marian, as an Accepted, didn't get to talk to her often, and it was rather annoying. Well, a roommate might cure that. At least, Kathera hoped it would.
Making herself stop bouncing, the novice waited impatiently for an awnser. The new novice looked tired and worn, rather like she had a door slammed in her face. Well... it was hard when you first came to the tower. If she really hadn't had a door slammed in her face, she probably got something like it. The same thing happened when she had first arrived.. the tower could be a shock. And wearing only white dresses. Grinning, she raised an eyebrow. "Anyhow.. you better change into a novice dress." Hopping of the bed, she walked over to the closet and looked through the white dresses, and pulled out a one she thought would fit. "Here." She thrust it into Araytha's hands, and went back to sitting on her bed.
Aryatha Kalden - March 18, 2005 10:42 PM (GMT)
"That would be me.. and I at least think this is my room." When the novice spoke, Aryatha's mood brightened a little until she thought through exactly what the girl had said. How would she not know if it was her room or not? She knew herself that these things were assigned and it would be impossible for her not to know which was hers. Unless perhaps she had an accident and forgot? It was not likely. No, the girl was probably trying to make some sort of joke she decided. Why else would the girl have smiled like that afterwards. Light, I'm acting like this is still Cairhien and everyone's motives must be questioned. This novice is most likely from Andor where they do not play the Game of Houses. Well, not compared to what we do. Her face turned sour for a moment thinking about it. Living in Cairhien had been difficult to say the least when one considered all the thinking, plotting, and manuevering of making sure you came out on top of every situation. Now and then, it was interesting but mostly it was nothing more than tiring. Just like she was tired now. She knew that if she sat down for a few moments she would be feeling much better and when she stepped into the room she eyed the empty bed with heavey eyes. It would be so nice to go straight to bed. However, she knew that she would have to change into her novice dress, put her things away, and hopefully win her roommate over as a friend. Being friends with the lower class. Her face went sour again, but she also knew that she would need friends and allies in the Tower and not many of the other girls would be nobility here.
Clearing her thoughts of such matters, Aryatha put a convincing smile on her face and set her things down on the empty bed before glancing over at the wardrobe as the other novice spoke of it. It was much smaller than the one she had had all to herself back home, but there was no use in wishing for something more. She was just a novice now and once she was Accepted things would be nicer. For surely she would become Accepted... She cleared her thoughts once more amd moved towards the small wardrobe before pulling out one dress at random. Moving quickly in case someone decided to visit or some such nonsense, Aryatha undid her buttons and pulled the new dress over her head and buttoned it up. It was too short by at least an inch and it was much more itchy than any other clothing she had ever worn, but she wasn't sure if that was the material or not. With a grimace, she looked up at the other girl. "Is it supposed to fit this badly?" After thinking about all the novices she had seen, she wasn't sure. Some had had dresses that almost seemed made for them while others were in a worse state than she was. Glad that hers was almost good enough, she smiled again and moved back towards her bags while waiting for a response from the other novice.
Kathera Galwyn - March 20, 2005 05:01 PM (GMT)
Kathera shrugged as the other novice tried the dress on. "It's one of mine... we can get you one that fits you better later." Aryatha was grimacing, then smiling, and seemingly was having a hard time. Nobility, probably. she decided, and shrugged to herself. Deciding to help the novice out a little with that one, she spoke again. "Just to tell you, here, it dosen't matter if your nobility or a commoner... they like to tell us were equal." Shrugging, she put an apologetic smile on her face. It was always hard for the new novices.... Sighing to herself, she sat down on her bed, hoping Aryatha would come out of 'nobility mode.' The other novice seemed to be calculating everything she said, and even the attempted jokes that she didn't find funny. Not a good sign. Kathera thought, knowing she would be joking about things most of the time. People always had a hard time believing she wanted to be a Brown when she became Aes Sedai... if she ever did, that is. That was always a problem... to wonder if you would ever achive the one goal you had in life. When she wanted so badly to be Aes Sedai, she had a hard time trying to think of a back up plan.
Almost everything was hard at the tower. Understanding the One Power... making friends... and just being able to live through it. Not to mention the chores. Yes, tower life was hard. Exspecialy if you were a novice. Well, life at her old home wasn't much easier. It was more physical labor than what one had to do here. Thinking back to the other novice, she could help but wonder if she had ever done any hard work in her life. Probably not. Well, she would learn. Now one only had to wait until she did. Sighing once again, Kathera shifted her position on the bed, trying to make herself more comfortable. Even her pallet at home had been better than the novice beds. Well, almost everything had been better at home. Not the people, though. They had treated her like a monster when they first learned she was a wilder. How thankfull she was of the tower, sometimes.
Naishee Telisia - March 20, 2005 10:06 PM (GMT)
Naishee hurried down the halls of the White Tower, curstying for anyone who needed it. She almost wished all of the Aes Sedai would just disapear on the spot, after they taught her to her full potential. Well, she probably could teach herself though she might not learn every one of the Aes Sedai tricks on her own. Sighing, the novice made her way to the dormitories, searching for her room number. She found the one she thought was hers, but opened the door and a girl screamed and slammed it shut with a flow of air before Naishee could even peek inside. Growling, she looked at the number again and realized it wasn't hers, which only increased her irritable mood.
Naishee went storming down the halls now, and when she came upon her door she pushed it open, expecting to be alone. When she saw the other novices in there, she mumbled something that bearly passed as a greeting and stalked over to the only bed that wasn't occupied, apparently hers. Naishee flung herself on it, grunting at how uncomfortable it felt, then burried her face in the lumpy pillow. She added names and faces to her mental list of who to stab when she was strong enough, or when she got the perfect opportunity. Naishee smiled to herself, wondering what techniques to use for the few she wanted to torture. They would plead for their lives, then be killed so slowly that they would plead for death. Maybe, just maybe she would let them live if they promised to obey her.. She might even decide to.. What was the word? Still them, that's it.
Aryatha Kalden - March 20, 2005 10:20 PM (GMT)
"It's one of mine... we can get you one that fits you better later," the other novice said with a plain voice and Aryatha felt like rolling her eyes. Like that will do a lot of good since I'm still having to wear this retched dress. So thank you... Aryatha then realized that the girl had not yet given her name. Now slightly suspicious, she decided to watch what the girl was saying and analyse it to make sure there were no hidden meanings. The girl might not look Cairhien, but it was always possible that she had been born elsewhere and then raised in the capital city. The girl's next words drew her out of her thoughts. "Just to tell you, here, it dosen't matter if your nobility or a commoner... they like to tell us were equal." These words made Aryatha decide that the girl was too honest about things for her own good. I have already discovered that fact, she thought while making her face look impassive. Instead of replying though, she mearly watched as the other girl sat down and lost herself in her thoughts. A dreamer, I can use that to my advantage I think. Smiling to herself, she moved to her bed and began unlacing the ties to her pack. There were quite a few so that if someone stole it they would have a hard time opening it. They could not, after all, cut it open without damaging what was inside. Her smile deepened as she thought that and finished untying the bag. Perhaps wouldn't be so terrible after all. She could not stop thinking about what the other girl had said though. "Just to tell you, here, it dosen't matter if your nobility or a commoner... they like to tell us were equal." Did the girl not realize that she was used to having to change her ways of going at things to get what she wanted? Shaking her head, she decided to leave those thoughts for when she was doing somehthing else.
"So, what is your name?" Aryatha asked when she decided that the girl had had enough time to think. If she had let the girl more time, she might have sayed there all day and there were other things to be done. "I-" Her words were cut off as another girl pushed the door open roughly and mummbled something that Ary did not quite catch. She supposed it was supposed to be a greating, but she couldn't be sure and since someone of nobility would never do anything of the sort unless they had had the worst of days. I am talking about coming to the White Tower, she probably had a horrible time. Looking at the girl's state of dress, she decided the girl wasn't nobility, but was still well off enough to get nice dresses now and then. Glad that she wasn't stuck in a room with two full peasents, she smiled at the other novice even though it looked like the girl wanted to bite someone. It would be easy enough to draw the girl to her side of things. Years in Cairhien had taught her to bring anyone under her control with a little time. And this girl might be a challenge. She smiled at the thought and hoped it was true. It was so boring when people obeyed her wishes after only hours of being with her. This one could even take a week. Perhaps two.
((OOC: Great, two really plotty girls in one room.))
Naishee Telisia - March 21, 2005 02:49 AM (GMT)
(( I'm guessing you were talking to Kathera in that post, Aryatha, so I won't reply. ))
Aryatha Kalden - March 21, 2005 05:40 PM (GMT)
((Yeah, I'll edit it though to show your arrival. :)))
Naishee Telisia - March 21, 2005 11:28 PM (GMT)
(( I refuse to be controlled! :boing-boing: Anywho.. >Waits for Kathera to post.< Hehe.. The plotty girl thing.. ))
Kathera Galwyn - March 26, 2005 02:16 AM (GMT)
((hmm... plotty girl thing? ohh... Sorry to ruin the idea of a dreamer... I just hate having my charracters being taken advantage of.))
Kathera took herself out of her thoughts, eyes narrowing while the other girl studied her. So... she though she was an idiot commoner? Thought she could use her? Well, the novice knew something that Aryatha didn't. She had street smarts, and book smarts as well. The other novice asked her name just as another novice blundered her way in and emersed herself into her pillow. Sighing, she turned to Aryatha, voice mild, though she wanted to roll her eyes at the ignorant piece of nobility. "You asked me if my name was Kathera when you came in. If you remeber, I said yes." Turning to look at the other novice, she spoke again, voice icy. "If not, you have short-term memory loss." Looking over the new novices crumpled form, she spoke in a better tone than before. "You must be Naishee. Glad to have you." Sighing, she turned back to Aryatha. "In case your wondering, I was born in Andor." Typical nobility. she thought, annoyed. Thinking they can walk all over someone just because their a 'peasant.' Well, this 'peasant' won't coperate.
Looking back at Naishee, she wanted to sigh all over again. Aryatha obviously knew how to manipulate people, and this one might not relieze it, even if she looked high-born. Oh, Aryatha's probably thanking the Creator she's not in a room with two peasants. Wouldn't that be horrible. Trying to keep herself from snorting, Kathera did sigh. The 'noble' novice would have a hard time with tower life, Aes Sedai didn't coddle you just because you were born in a richer family. All novices were the same as soon as they entered the tower. Aryatha's problem if she didn't believe her. Laying down on the bed, she put her hands under her head and stared at the ceiling, angry thoughts over ignorant nobility going through her head. Oh, how she hated how they acted like they were better than anyone else. Deciding that if she became Accepted before Aryatha to lord it over her, Kathera turned over on her side. No.. it wouldn't be right. And Aryatha was going to have a hard time as it was.
Naina - June 11, 2005 10:10 AM (GMT)
Naina walked down the halls of the White Tower, startling every time an Aes Sedai passed by. She wanted to curtsy first, but the Aes Sedai didn´t even look at her. Neither did the Accepted. She had to admit, that she didn’t quite expect such an indifference towards her. Slightly disappointed the Naina continued looking for her room. Two other girls, they said. Light, they probably are so experienced by now and can do all possible things with the Power, not like me... She also saw novices in plain white dresses hurrying probably to their classes, Naina thought.Soon you will also wear one of these white dresses. she told herself. And one day, if you study hard, you will be given the serpent ring. Completely lost in her dreams about how she will become an Accepted and then an Aes Sedai, she didn’t notice at first that she already walked past the right room.
After a while she found the right door.
And there she stood, in front of the door to her room. The room where she is going to spend the next months(?) or years(?) of her life. And behind that door she would also find the other girls. I do hope we’ll get along well. It would be good to have friends here. Suddenly Naina felt all lonely in this White Tower with its endless halls full of Aes Sedai, so far away from home...Courage she told herself and knocked at the door, opened it and came in.
