I play with sounds when creating names for my characters. I don't remember exactly why I thought Cayana was a good name though. :unsure: I guess it's mostly created in a standard way for me, -a or -ana are usual sufixes in female names, Cay just works well with it... *shrugs*

I actually found Sapphira reading my Bible one night...she wasn't a very nice person, I forget exactly what she did though. :look I thought it was a really cool name, so I used it. Calren...don't ask me, it was probably me doing what I usually do for last names: hit random letters till I get something good. :P

Baby names site. :look Eithne means 'little spark'... :look And it sounded exotic, so... :P

Marian... Hmm... I liked the name, I guess. I think I was searching on Babynames...

Skylas... It irritates me now, but then I just needed a last name.

Lyla is night in hebrew, Yam is sea, and so I become Night the Mermaid :look

Uuh.. I didn't make my name, I stole it from my friend(I asked permission!). It's one of her characters on World of Warcraft, and I just like the sound so yeah. :P

I also hit random letters until I found something good... A normal practice for me, really. :lol:

I completely made up my last name, I like using y's in my words randomly, so I was like, "mmm, what sounds cool?" So that's where Erydinan comes from.

And Rialt is the name of the Prince of Firon in Melanie Rawn's Dragon Star Trilogy. He's a pretty awesome badass. Rialt's avatar's name is actually Andry, and he's a real asshole. So I thought it worked well.

No Idea where Kiren comes from... but Thym... well Thyme is my favorite herb/spice and I'd just finished the fools books by 'hobb' and well there most people have simple names which mean something (I believe there even is a 'madam thyme' there....

Well, Freya the Goddess of war, fertility, sex, magic and that sort of things is kind of my idol. And in Finnish it is spelled Freyja, so I just took it from that.

And the whole name Freyja Annolyn came when I joined Freyja which I have in Fifth Age with Annolyn which I have in the Age of Glory (I was in a lazy mood when I joined).

Hrm... interesting thread...

Anyhoo, "Sidivin" is a character from the Sword of Truth series and is kind of like an Aiel in many ways.

And "Yahbree" is a three-bladed knife with undefined magical properties. Usually carried in pairs, when both Yahbree are struck together they make a ringing sound that does something to everyone who hears it, but I don't remember what... :look

I have the first book of SoT, or is it the first two? :P I started to read it, but was confused, I've put it up for summer reading when I have more time. :P That is, if I'm thinking of the right series. :look

Edeleas - I was so fascinated by the twins Vandene and Adeleas. Tried to think up a name and this came up. :P

al'Kuar - Now, really, I have no idea where this came from. :blink:

Zekieal- ever since i started any sort of roleplaying anything, all my "main" characters or whatever you wanna call them had names starting with z from Zarigan, to Zenyx to Zarabalg to Zekieal. I dunno why i do it but i do. This particular name came from when I played Diablo II, my character i had named Zekieal, but spelled it "zequil" for god knows what reason....the name kinda stuck, i fixed the spelling and that kinda birthed the zekieal name.

al'kith- i was trying to find a good sounds to mix and mash and moosh together for a last name, and i liked how it sounded.

Ara was my first ever RP character of any type, old old school chat room stuff, before message boards were really a big thing (wait, that makes me feel old!). Short for Arahnri, so My Arahnri turned into Myara Ahnri.

I usually just invision the character I'm playing, and type things until something sounds like my character. Of course, this leaves me with all sorts of random names for my characters.
