There’s nothing more heartbreaking than the death of a child, but there is nothing more admirable, nothing braver, than taking that tragedy and making it into a quest for hope and a brighter future so that other families can have answers and hope for a cure. The Glitter Staff has been overwhelmingly moved by the story of the Three Angel’s Memorial Fund, and we feel called into action. We want to ask that Glitter, as a fanclub, as a small sort-of family ourselves, come together and support NiCole Robinson, her family and friends, and their efforts with the same support we offer each other in times of need. It is with that in mind that we have two announcements to make.
The first is that as of June 1, 2008 all donations from the fanclub store, and all autograph purchases, will go to the Three Angel’s Memorial Fund for ACD Research indefinitely. During that time, we encourage you all to revisit the store and purchase something, even something small, in support of this cause. We also encourage you to order a photo, whether for you, or a friend, or for no reason at all other than 100% of the money you donate will be sent to Three Angel’s, and may someday make the difference of a child’s life.
Second, we have been given an incredible opportunity for all our fans, regardless of their ability to donate, to lend support to NiCole and her family, and for one lucky member to experience firsthand Kristin’s gracious gift of her time and talent for this cause. A Glitter member has generously donated tickets to Kristin’s benefit concert on April 12 for us to give away to one of our members, plus a guest. While we are thrilled at the opportunity for a single fan, we wanted to find a way to include all of our Glitter family in this great event, so we gave a lot of thought to how we would choose our winner. And this is what we decided:
We are going to host a poem contest. This contest has a few simple rules:
All poems must be three stanzas long, in honor of the The Angels.
All poems must follow the themes of angels and hope for the future.
All poems must be sent via email to coordinator.glitterstaff@gmail.com by midnight on Saturday, the 22nd of March. (Note: Please include your first name and last name or last initial in the email, as well as your username, so that when we announce we can avoid any confustion caused by members with similar names)
All entrants MUST be able to attend the concert, and will be allowed to bring one guest.
(Ticket details: There are two tickets reserved for the winner, which means the winner will be able to bring either a parent or guardian if under the age of 18, or a friend if over the age of 18. You and your guest will be accompanied by Aly, who will have your tickets for you on the day of the event.)
Once all the entries are in, the staff will choose a winner, to be announced on the forum on Wednesday, March 26th.
However, as stated above, we wanted to include all of our members in a show of support for NiCole and her family, so from March 26th to March 30th, we will be accepting poems in the format above from all of our members, regardless of whether they can attend the concert. We will then compile all the poems submitted, and send them to NiCole as a gesture of support and admiration from our “family” to hers. (Submission note: If you are submitting a poem after the contest is ended for inclusion in the compilation to be sent to NiCole Robinson, please include your first name and last name or last initial, so that we can put it at the bottom of your poem.)
We hope that you will join with us in this opportunity to make a difference to a cause both very dear to Kristin’s heart, and to our own. After all, as it has often been said: a little Glitter goes a long way.
The Glitter Staff would like to offer a hearty congratulations to Jen A. (aka Wickeder), the winner of the Three Angel's Poetry Contest! Jen will be attending the Three Angel's Memorial Fund Benefit on April 12th in New York City, accompanied by a guest of her choosing, and Glitter coordinator Aly Hagen. In addition, her poem will be the cover poem for the collection we give to NiCole Robinson.
We also want to thank ALL our entrants for this contest -- we LOVED reading your poems! They were all so heartfelt and touching!
