First off I bet a lot of you are wondering what is a MUD. Well a MUD is a roleplaying game that you play online. It is not like some of the Diablo or Everquest games because it is all text and run on a program already installed on your computer, Telnet. You can also use programs like Penguinet or ZMUD to run it. Simply insert the address and the right port then you will be taken to the game and ready to start.

Here is some verbage direct from this site:
QUOTE
A MUD (Multiple User Dimension, Multiple User Dungeon, or Multiple User Dialogue) is a computer program which users can log into and explore. Each user takes control of a computerized persona/avatar/incarnation/ character. You can walk around, chat with other characters, explore dangerous monster-infested areas, solve puzzles, and even create your very own rooms, descriptions and items. You can also get lost or confused if you jump right in, so be sure to read this document before starting.

Make sure to learn the coding before you enter because unless you change your preferences to see what you're typing or get one of the programs above it's hard to play. You cannot see what you're typing in Telnet. :D

Also you can go to Mudconnect.com for more info.

::. NOW to the HP related part! .::
Mugglenet is making their very own MUD. So that we can be sorted and go through school, graduate, and become pros at the MOM. I like MUDs and if they are HP it's a super bonus! I thought I'd share it with you guys! Maybe it could be another way to drag...I mean bring some lost souls to our board... :eyebrows:

I would never, and I mean never except to eat and pee, leave the computer. School, sleep, what little bit of a social life I have, would go out the window if I were to do that. Sounds great!!

I think that they are still working on it. Building a MUD is not easy and takes some time. Takes a LOT of programing. I can't wait!!!!

Dug around a bit on the Project Legilimensia site and discovered.......

They don't have a open date yet.

They are saying "soon." That's helpful.

But, I'm guessing that this thing is going to be HUGE.

I hate to pull up older topics, but I thought I'd give you a heads up. My name is Art, Project Legilimensia is my brain-child. (If you really need to confirm that I am who I say I am, feel free to Private Message me on the Project Legilimensia forums; I'll be happy to identify myself). The MUD is still going strong, it is simply a lot of work to finish such a massive project. If you feel so compelled, we are always looking for staff, so feel free to hop on by and throw in a job application.

Thanks, Art. I'll give my ex-husband a call. He loves programing and especially MUDs. If it's Harry Potter then I think he'll be loving it from all angles.

Hey do you have any links to any easy user friendly MUD sites? I wanna try one out first. Has anyone ever been to habbohotel.com? Is that kinda like MUD?
