Title: What was the last book you read?

Lylian_Mae - January 23, 2005 05:51 PM (GMT)
Just like the What Movie did you watch Last? thread, post the title and author of the book you just read.

Reccently I have read:
A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Bad Beggining and The Reptile Room
by Lemony Snicket

Currently I am readying
1984
by George Orwell

Wendy - January 24, 2005 12:56 AM (GMT)
The series of unfortunate events is a great series. :) I've read 10 out of 11 of them.
Last book I read was Eragon, by Christopher Paolini. Also a fantastic book.

bluejeanbaby - January 24, 2005 02:32 AM (GMT)
The last book I read was OotP.

Lylian_Mae - February 8, 2005 09:12 AM (GMT)
I read the third book called The Wide Window.

Wendy, I bought that book Eragon. I'll have to read it after I finish the Lemony Snicket books. :D

bluejeanbaby - February 8, 2005 04:46 PM (GMT)

I just finished reading some book - I cannot for the life of me remember which it was - But I am up to the second book of a trilogy - The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, The Unbeliever ... you should read it, it is sweet as ...

darcyblack - March 14, 2005 08:25 PM (GMT)
Pride and Prejudice.
This was a re-read for me.....I love it!

Hermes - March 17, 2005 01:34 AM (GMT)
I am still reading a book called The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever - extremely interesting ...

Anora - April 14, 2005 04:33 AM (GMT)

darcyblack - April 14, 2005 04:50 AM (GMT)

bluejeanbaby - April 15, 2005 01:07 AM (GMT)

The Fredericks of Hollywood catalog

Hermes - April 15, 2005 03:45 AM (GMT)
Moved on to "The Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant" ... Honestly, if you see it in a book shop, buy it! It is one of the best reads I have had!

Anora - April 16, 2005 05:41 AM (GMT)
ok, I am currently on Goblet..I hate the first chapter...the whole backstory on Voldy...and what happens, if he *fake* kills himself when he really kills his folks.. where does the body come from everyone (including cops and coroners) think is him? I dont get it...I love this book, but that first part I have never liked. It has always reminded me of Genesis in the Bible...I never liked that either, no offense, sorry if any is taken, I just never got all that begotting stuff.

darcyblack - April 17, 2005 03:23 AM (GMT)
:diespam:

This is what people don't understand....The Bible is not to be read like a normal book....otherwise you wouldn't ever get past the first couple chapters (don't worry about offending....that part IS boring). Read Ester or Ruth.....or The Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke & John)....those are all like stories.....OH and Song of Songs.....that's a love story, poetry style.

Anora - April 17, 2005 06:22 AM (GMT)
thanks Darce..I did get a new book recently, its called "Paganism, an introduction to Earth-centered religions" I have a bunch of Wicca type books...but really like this Pagan one best so far.

darcyblack - April 17, 2005 10:06 AM (GMT)
That sounds interesting. I've always found Wicca interesting. Unlike some people who claim Christ-based religions, I really enjoy studying religions other than my own as well.

Anora - April 17, 2005 04:32 PM (GMT)
Ive just started on it (reading it and Goblet at the same time, lol) but so far its really great!

darcyblack - April 17, 2005 06:19 PM (GMT)
I'm reading a fantasy series called the Sword books along with CoS.

Anora - April 17, 2005 06:23 PM (GMT)
I cant WAIT for book 6 this summer!!! Im SOOOOOOO excited!

darcyblack - April 17, 2005 06:51 PM (GMT)
I know! I've been worried about taking time off from work for it (I WILL have a job by then), but I found out that the 16th is on a Sat, right? awesome!!!!!

Wendy, if I'm still here in Texas, we need to get together for the midnight lines!!!!

Anora - April 18, 2005 08:23 PM (GMT)
IF your still there in Texas?? Where MIGHT you be thats not in Texas?

darcyblack - April 19, 2005 01:14 AM (GMT)
Don't know. Gotta find a job somewhere, right?

Hermes - May 24, 2005 02:53 AM (GMT)

Harry Flipping Potter and the Stupid a$$ half blood Prince..... I am SOOO shocked.... I did like the way much of the unfinished buiness from the first 5 books was tied up neatly tho.... the death and the murderer came as a HUGE HUGE shock tho..I cried on both counts and feel completely betrayed IF thats the way she leaves it. First she whacks off Sirius....now this person....I feel like I really need to go to a funeral and not just read one. This is really awful.

Hear! Hear!

Well said Anora.

I loved the HBP, but the ending was so shocking (in particularly for me because of my love and devotion to both people involved. How could he have done that?!?!?!?!?!??) and I cried so much that I have to take a 30 minute time out to collect myself and stop crying.

I was hoping, like Harry was when Sirius died, that what happened, didn't really happen and that it just appeared that way.

I still can't believe it.

Lylian_Mae - July 21, 2005 12:30 AM (GMT)
Most Agreed! HP and the Crud A$$ HPB!
That punk butt!

bluejeanbaby - July 21, 2005 12:39 AM (GMT)
I'm currently re-reading The Sorcerer's Stone. I'm going all the way back tot he beginning to see what I could have possibly missed for HBP to have ended the way it did.

I have my theories though, oh yes, I have my theories....

Lylian_Mae - July 22, 2005 03:05 PM (GMT)
Blue and I have been thinking along the same lines...start at the beginning. It was sure good enough for some of our characters to think so.

Do you think it would be wise to change Wendy's one thread into a Theories thread and then leave the one for just discussion of the book?

I'm on Chapter 8 of SS

bluejeanbaby - July 23, 2005 03:09 AM (GMT)
I've just finished SS and am moving on to CoS.

Wendy - September 9, 2005 05:59 PM (GMT)
