Title: 40k Version 5?!?!
GrouperKicker - March 27, 2008 04:02 PM (GMT)
So... I saw over on warseer.com that a new version of 40K is due out later this year. Is it just me or does this seem a bit early for a new version of 40K?

It is early. They didn't release all the codex for the existing armies. I think GW is in a $ crunch and needs an influx of cash. Also, 4th edition needs some tweaking.

Yes, 5th edition 40k is due sometime around August. I've played a game with and read through the playtest rules. There are definately some major changes ahead.

Should we expect to see a new version of WFB next year then? I'm hoping we get new TK rules (and some new OK rules also - they are my 2nd army) before they decide to rewrite the WFB rules!
Now I have to figure out what to do with my useless 40K rulebook... I made the stupid mistake of buying the hardcover version. Luckily, my WFB rulebook is a softcover version that I picked up on eBay for $10.

No don't expect to see 8th Ed for a few years, 2010 at the earlyest they will only just manage to get all the armies covered by then. BTW which 40K armies are lacking a codex?

lacking a "NEW" codex?
hmm.. I believe Dark Eldar, Spacewolves, Daemonhunters, Witchhunters(well most of the marine off-shoots, but theres a rumor that they plan to nix traits) IG, and necron (Possible WBB changes).
.....and yet another SM main codex is coming out.

In my opinion 40k needs the new book. If you have ever tried to find anything in that book using that poor excuse for an index you will know exactly what I mean. Or for that matter try resolving a multi unit combat with more than one player involved. It is messed up.
