Title: Favorite bad licensing decision

Gauntlet101010 - March 16, 2008 04:45 AM (GMT)
Two choices from the list! Which is your favorite bas megaman franchise?

My own choices are the MM PC games and Cap N. The former because they really added a bit of mystery to the franchise for me when I first got intot he Megamans cene. The latter because it's a fond childhood memory for me. And the designs were really out there.

Anything outside of NES and SNES is pretty much a bad licensing decision if you ask me.

Gauntlet101010 - March 16, 2008 05:09 AM (GMT)
Yeah, but the idea is which is your FAVORITE bad licensing decision.

Is that like picking your favorite Nazi?

I pick Erwin Rommel/PC series.

Gauntlet101010 - March 16, 2008 05:21 AM (GMT)
Well, that's one way of thinking about it.

I'm so far out of the box I don't even remember what it looks like.

Now THIS is a poll I can get behind!

It's a tough decision for me. Dreamwave had some potential until it turned out Pat Lee was a douchebag, and it brought us the WRF. Novas Adventuras is almost like any other licensed MM manga, except totally insane and in some parts sexy, but mostly sexily insane. Captain N brought us some memorable bastardized characters and in some ways made a better MM cartoon than Ruby Spears. In the end though, I gotta give my preference to Hi-Tech Expressions. For without them, we'd have no S6PC. 'Nuff said.

Akutare - March 16, 2008 03:21 PM (GMT)
I am torn between the PC games and the Ruby Spears Cartoon. I use to play the PC games alot when I was younger. Captain N, I still watch my Dvds of it. Captain N feels like one of those guilty pleasures to me. I forst caught myself watching Captain N when it came out.

CrystalGirl - March 16, 2008 04:41 PM (GMT)
Oh man, that is such a hard decision! Haha, I love them all in their horrible-ness. I'm gunna have to go with Ruby Spears and PC though. PC for the same reason as everyone else, and Ruby Spears because I grew up on that show, and it introduced me to Mega.

Akutare - March 16, 2008 04:43 PM (GMT)
I use to get up at 5:30 AM on Sundays to watch the Ruby Spears cartoon also. Damn, it was cheesy like Captain N, but enjoyable. I never heard Dreamwave ones.

Kaos - March 16, 2008 07:41 PM (GMT)
The Ruby Spears show was the first thing Megaman related aside from the NES games, it made me like the games even more and was part of my childhood, so there goes my vote.

Vulcan - March 16, 2008 11:16 PM (GMT)
I freaking grew up with the Ruby Spears cartoon.

GaiaX6 - March 16, 2008 11:36 PM (GMT)
It has to be Ruby Spears. one of the MOST cliche(SP?) action adventure Saturday Morning cartoons. plus I liked how the voices were very, oddly decent. but they could've made him more like the origional one, but they dicided to make him look more like a Superman Ripoff than himself. plus it introduced one of the biggest MegaMan memes in the net.. IT'S BLOODY GUTSMAN!!

Captain N had it's cliche moments also. However, alot of children shows tend to be cliched. Most of the time, Both the RS and Dic's Captain N shows were enjoyable. Despite Megaman only appeared in three episodes in the thrid season of Captain N.

What do you mean by the "Super Man Ripoff?" You mean the Robotic Muscles?

Valcion - March 17, 2008 11:44 AM (GMT)
the Ruby-Spears cartoon- despite the inaccuracies... it was my personal favorite cartoon growing up. Scott McNeil will be the only true wily in my eyes.

Also... the PC games. I remember many a time going over to my grandparents house and playing nothing but that on their crazy-old PC. Brings back good memories.

Lord Derg - March 20, 2008 05:50 PM (GMT)
W&S R&F game. It introduced my favourite robot master (COMPASS MAN!!!) and was the first game to involve time travelling.

(Technically)

Gauntlet101010 - March 20, 2008 06:35 PM (GMT)
Megaman 2 GB is the first game to involve time travelling. You even fight in a time warp (the end level with the melty clocks).

Akutare - March 20, 2008 06:52 PM (GMT)
Does anyone ever remember the toys that were with the Ruby Spears Cartoon? I own the large Gutsman and some small figures.

Proto Stryker - March 20, 2008 08:28 PM (GMT)
Yeah, glad you brought that up actually! Most of mine are mangled up, and the miniatures were lost in some camping incident when I was, like, six, but I've still got Mega, Proto, Guts, and Rush!

Good times....

Hunter_Chameleon - March 20, 2008 08:31 PM (GMT)
Though I never really got to "experiment" any of those on the list, Epilogue Torchman is good enough of a reason for me to choose the PC games.

Liquid-Snake - March 20, 2008 08:32 PM (GMT)
I got my Ruby Spears mini figures, too. Megaman, Iceman, Gutsman, and Dr. Light.

Akutare - March 20, 2008 10:59 PM (GMT)
I lost my Cutman. He ended up loosing his clippers on his head. I have a large Gutsman that sits on my TV.
