Title: MK Vs DC.
Description: Has MK jumped the shark?

Chaos Wolf - April 19, 2008 12:40 AM (GMT)
Worlds Collide.

16 Mortal Kombatants
16 DC Heroes (and maybe villains)
32 Heroes and Villains collide for the kombat of the century.

So the only revealed characters are Batman and Sub-Zero, but Superman and Scorpion have been mentioned by Boon.

But yeah, Mortal Kombat versus DC Comics, that seems like it will be fun. Will we see the darker side of Superman?

Also, who do you hope will be in.

Gauntlet101010 - April 19, 2008 12:50 AM (GMT)
I hope Green Lantern will eb in.

MK VS DC ... of course the DC heroes are the ones who have a big hangup on killing, so it seems sort of like an out of place crossover. Still, Marvel VS Capcom was fun, so this might be fun too.

Woah! I think Mortal Kombat Armageddon was the last of the series.

This don't look bad. Seems like a strange concept and an intresting crossover. Hell, if Yoda and Darth Vader appear in the newest Soul Calibur and such.

Dynamax - April 19, 2008 01:01 AM (GMT)
Mortal Kombat Armageddon was in fact the end of the old series. They basically will continue with alot of old characters killed off during armageddon...for reals this time....and allowing them to grow without years of clutter.

Wow. Can't say I was expecting this.

Like Gauntlet mentioned about DC heroes and their attitude toward killing... would their "FINISH HIM!" moves be more like super KOs instead of Fatalities? Or will they dare to cross that dreaded line?

According to my boyfriend, who is far more involved in the gamer scene than I am, it won't be M rated. So my guess is that fatalities are out the window. The trailer seems to lack blood too. If that's true, that kind of takes away from the authenticity of it being MK at all.

There's no question, we all know Batman will win. Batman always wins.

Zero (0) - April 19, 2008 10:37 PM (GMT)
Clicking Sub-Zero's eyes yield something...

No, Batman can only win if he plans in advance. As that's the whole beauty of him. He plans, he arrives, he fights, he wins through superior intellect and a belt equipped with Deus ex Machina.

But yeah, Batman does own. I mean he's up there with a large cast of characters that have superpowers, he has none. That certainly counts for something.

Chaos Wolf - April 22, 2008 10:23 PM (GMT)
My bad, apparently in a recent interview, Boon stated there are 20 to 22 characters planned.

Chaos Wolf - July 25, 2008 08:01 PM (GMT)
the character list has been shaping up nicely so far. For those who don't know, the current list is.

DC

Catwoman
Flash
Joker
Green Lantern

MK
Scorpion
Sub Zero

Shang Tsung
Sonya
Jax
Kitana

I'm not satisfied until Bo Rai Cho is announced. Then I'll officially be happy.

Good luck. I remember hearing that they want characters that are 'memorable' or well known. You know, something of that effect. Bo Rai Cho, while funny, isn't even close to liked.

BTW, there are Fatalities... For the MK fighters and DC Villians (Catwoman and Joker so far). The DC Heroes will have Brutalities, which is much like a Fatality except you don't die.

They're more like super moves or something now. Like from SF and stuff.

I know they are working on MK 9 after this one though. They aren't certain if this CO will be canon or not (I hope not, crossoer games should be their own universes).

I'm waiting for Shao Kahn/Darkseid and I guess... Goro/Doomsday?

Can't think of a well known DC Analog for Goro other than that big grey slab of plot device.

One other idea

Quan Chi/Sinestro (Quan Chi is like the only new guy from MK4 on who is popular and..this roster needs more villians)

I thought Liu Kang died a few games ago.

He got revived in Armaggedon.

He got revived in Armaggedon.

A-hem... He was actually revived in Deception, but they explained who brought him back from the dead and why he was back in Armaggeddon.

Plus, this game is NOT, I repeat not, part of the main MK storyline. So that is a moot point.
