Title: Computer help...
Mahajarah - May 2, 2008 10:24 PM (GMT)
So I was reading the MM1 recruitment thread. Of course, Everyone knows my opinion.
Well, after reporting, about 3 minutes later, My mouse flies up to my 'X'.
I calmly move it down, and roughly 2 mintues later, it goes berserk, flying all the way across the screen. I panicked, and spammed alt + f4.
immediantly, my task manager pops up and my CPU usage flied from 16% to 100%.
In dismay, I hard reset my computer.
Upon inspecting the back, I noticed my mouse was unplugged.
My question is, will a mouse dissconecting spontainously creatre this issue? Or is this an actual computer virus.
(Note: I was left clicking during the moment my mouse went berserk, and I use AVG anti Spyware and Anti-Virus, Free edition, and STOP-SIGN pop-up blocker.)
[Sorry if this is in the wrong area, Not sure where to post computer help at.]

Well, what was eating up your resources? Did you think to check the process?

I couldn't access anything, as the computer froze.
Besides, even if I could, I'm only fluent in BASIC and HTML, I know nothing about hardware, or accessing my hard drives knowledge.
It's acting fine now, but Sometimes viruses do that kind of thing, and this is our family's last comp. If this bites it, we're done for.

Ouch to the last part about the last PC of the house.
I had a similar problem to my mouse effin' up on my laptop. Then I would get a popup baloon sayng "hardware does not exist".
How old is your PC?

Very.
It's a white shell, so that should tell you just how old it is.
It rus on Windows 2000PROfessional, so it's JUST within the range of program acceptance.
It'd say it's easily several years old, but it's parts are newer, such as the RAEDON 9800 Video card and My Internet Port.

Problem was solved.
Apparently, I had a stupid thing called "Trojan Horse Generic.XER"
Somehow, by me left clicking a certain command, I triggered it, causing my shell to completely error.
It's been removed after 2 scans.

9800's aren't new(er) by any means... I was like a freshman in high school when those came out.

When you're family runs on disability and a part time employment at McDonalds, a 9800 looks like god.
Not that I really care, As long as it runs WoW okay, I'm happy.
EDIT: Mother can't work due to blood clot in her leg, and I'm employed at Mccy'ds. Nasty place, but damn if it ain't fucking tasty as shit.
There's also andrea's income, but that's towards our house payment.
