Title: Weight loss thread.
Description: Because I'm tired of it.
Mahajarah - May 18, 2008 04:00 AM (GMT)
I won't lie.
I've dealt with obesity in my family, along with cholestorol.
It's always been an issue for me.
Recently, I've lost wait, and gained it back due to diet, lack of exercise, and stress.
Today, I looked into the mirror and I look like hell.
I'm done with that. I'm finished with being insecure with myself and my health, No more. I'm shedding this weight TODAY.
I hope others decide to join me, but I doubt they will.
Current weight: 185
Height: 5 ' 11
I know this isn't going to be easy, but damn it, I'm sick and tired of my weight.
It's...Going... To be gone.
Gauntlet101010 - May 18, 2008 04:17 AM (GMT)
When I start to think I'm gaining weight I switch to eating a lot of salads and drinking a lot of water when I get hungry. I gotta admit tho, I'm not in the best of shape physically...
Vulcan - May 18, 2008 06:19 AM (GMT)
I'm just moderately overweight. Slim enough to be sexy, but fat enough to play my belly like a fleshy, sloppy drum. I eat lots of healthy foods, ironically. Cucumbers, Chinese white pears and sunflower seeds are personal favorites.

I'm 6'2" and weigh about 200 pounds. I'd say it's a average weight for my size. I have a small gut. I could use a bit more exercise. Summer vacation is coming up in a week so I can spend more time exercising.
Magnus Riujin - May 18, 2008 11:46 PM (GMT)
Augh, weight, don't get me started on that. I'm 6' 4" and i weight probably upwards of 250lbs with a gut that you could look at and call 'plump'.
Of course, sence i eat a lot of snacks, consider the sun my mortal enemy, and generally dislike exercise, i shouldn't really be complaining. *sigh*
Protoman-EXE - June 11, 2008 08:33 PM (GMT)
I'm skinny. I don't know why, but no matter what I eat, I stay skinny. I'm 119 lbs, 5'9". That's pretty skinny for my school group. But then again, that means I can eat whatever I please, and still be the fastest runner at my school. (Used to be school, actually, now that I'm going on to High School.)
EDIT: I'm sorry, I made a huge bump without realizing it. Crap.
STARZ - June 11, 2008 09:33 PM (GMT)
I'm like..180 or so. It bounces around a lot, and stays within at least a ten pound range. The only problem with this is I'm like, a little bit short. Doctor woman says I'm about a half an inch away from five feet something-or-other.
I go into the sun, but I despise exercise. It's boring, I can't stand there and move in place a gazillion times.
Gotta keep it in place until I get taller.
Marx - June 11, 2008 10:51 PM (GMT)
I eat just about anything, and I don't mind Exercising either, but my summer goal is to loose ten pounds.
-Sigh-
Being the tallest in my family sucks, nobody can realy give me an accurate mesurement. All I know is I'm 5 foot 10 inches, weigh somewhere between 190-200LBS.
However I don't realy have a gut, it's kinda the flat squishy kinda stuff y'know what I'm saying?
All my friends assume I do,
(I think...) but it's the shirt, large size doesn't fit my shoulders... -_-" hence it makes me look fat.
Although I do weight lift, I'm the strongest (Yay), yet I want to become fast... (I'm slow.. Sorta..)

(@ STARZ)
Riding a bike is good if you don't like running around, also swimming is good too. If you don't move around, you realy won't get any taller too. Either that or you're up to no good, Dad always said
"You're only short and stay that way when you do bad stuff".
O-o

Gasp! I need to stop selling that crack then..
Well, I guess I need to get up and do something..I'm in a bad week for any swimming. The greatest time of the month, and the fact that's its raining every day.. ¤_¤
Mahajarah - June 12, 2008 02:17 AM (GMT)
Update: 2 weeks later
Weight: 176
Slowly, but surely. : P

Since you're stuck...
Sit-ups are a good way of flattening and building up the muscle in the stomach reigon. Then again, there's always that bit of advice my track coach said
"Do push-ups while watching T.V! Do push ups after running! Do push-ups anytime!"
You can probably tell he's a push-up crazed man.... >_>"
Still, you're probably what... 13, am I right?
(I'm guessing, don't kill me! Or use a pie on a stick!)
Once you hit.. Oh 15 it's much easier to loose weight faster, you'd probably grow taller and some other things that mature your body will help, or hinder (By then atleast), I won't say what may hinder you though... mwhahah.
STARZ - June 12, 2008 02:41 AM (GMT)
How does everyone keep figuring things like that out? NYARG!
Eh.I was never good at sit-ups. I will start taking longer walks and taking long routes. Just to get in the habit.

Hehehe, trust me I have a lot of ways to give you a type of indoor or outdoor workout.
When you take a walk, jog for five minuites, then the next time you take a walk, increase the jog time.
(I think I ruined your walk... ueheh... ^_^" )
-
As for situps, anyone can do them, 300 total a day, 100 per meal, that's what I recomend. The more you can flatten your stomach, the better, then you can start running!
(Yes running!)
(No excuses! Mwhahah!)
Of course dieting doesn't work, never diet, you end up regaining double of what you lost in some cases. That's because your body uses what has stored and if you diet, you pretty much stay hungry, so when you eat regularly the stored stuff gets backed up and you end up re-gaining AND gaining.

................. no comment.
STARZ - June 12, 2008 12:17 PM (GMT)
I had a bad experience with things like situps. See, they taught us how to do them in a really stupid way, and I can never do them that way..bleh. I'll just have to increase my walking time till I get taller
Iga - June 12, 2008 05:15 PM (GMT)
Hands behind your head, elbows up, feet flat on the ground, push your upper body forward to make your elbows touch your knees.
If you can't keep your feet down(it happens), then I suggest trying to find something heavy that will keep them down. It could be something like a dresser that sits on four legs(rather than flat on the ground) or a barbell(though I'm going to assume that not a whole lot of houses have barbells just laying around). And if you do at least get into a walking habit, then in a couple years' time you'll have a pretty decent amount of weight lost. So I'd say to keep effort and patience in mind. Keep working at it and you'll get there.
Marx - June 12, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
Hehe, Iga you for got to tell the reader to lay down! XD
Okay, bad joke on my part, ueheh... ^^"
Still, y'know running isn't so bad after a while, seriously just try running half a mile and increase the next day. I never liked running untill I joined the track team
(As a thrower), and they gave us a mile warm-up, allowing us to run among friends in the team. Running with friends is a good thing too.
(@ STARZ)
However, if you do walk, I'd buy a waist trimmer or something like that. It sorta looks like a thick mat but it goes around the stomach area and you exercise with it, doing a little bit double of your regular exercise, but cha' have to keep at it! I'd recomend it to anyone starting a walking or running habbit to loose weight, it helps ALOT.
STARZ - June 13, 2008 03:11 AM (GMT)
Can't seem to get myself up all the way..grr.
Well, the way they always taught us was to keep our legs in some stupid fashion, and then if you didn't or couldn't do it they said you weren't trying and you got in troublle
Egh..
I started walking a lot at that theme park. I'm going to keep this up.
CenetaurmanE52 - June 13, 2008 04:16 AM (GMT)
Crunches aren't bad either, just not quite as effective.
I'll be shedding a few pounds this Summer too (gotta look somewhat presentable for High School...), but my friend's getting a good pool soon. So swimming, some yoga, and walking/jogging seems in order. And I'll probably cut down on lazy time (as much as we all luv it)
Marx - June 13, 2008 11:44 PM (GMT)
...... Okay, I get it, haha you're funny Corvid....
GO on, laugh away...
>_<
Anyways,
"And I'll probably cut down on lazy time (as much as we all luv it)"
YAY FOR LAZY TIME! XD
However, I've always wondered what is yoga... it truly puzzles me. Although I wonder if wearing leg weights makes a major difference in running/walking... hmm...
(@ CenetaurmanE52)
Crunches will flatten your stomach, however just like everything else you got to keep at it. Yeah, Highschool is all looks, brain, or both sadly.
Are you just entering Highschool or have you been going for a while?
(@ STARZ)
"I started walking a lot at that theme park. I'm going to keep this up."
Good that you have a strong will to keep it up! ^_^
o_o But what do you mean by walking at a theme park?
CenetaurmanE52 - June 14, 2008 12:56 AM (GMT)
Yoga's...erm, not sure how to explain it o_o. It helps with balance, posture, and helps tighten muscles. And yes, I'm just entering high school, so I'm a young d00d myself.
STARZ - June 14, 2008 01:32 AM (GMT)
I walked pretty much at least a mile to try and keep up with my hyperactive friends while they puked up stuff on roller coasters..
Ah..leg achage.
Marx - June 14, 2008 02:22 AM (GMT)
(@ STARZ) So the park walk is an everyday thing ._. ? Still don't give up on your routine!
(@ CenetaurmanE52) Highschool may have a weightroom, and maybe a tredmill, do you know what your highschool has?
_
Marx on Gatorade -
Never drink gatorade unless you have done a big work out, this is because when you consume gatorade as a regular everyday drink you're absorbing calories that will store and add on to your weight since you haven't gotten rid of any. So next time you grab a bottle of Gatorade or Powerade, think about it. Just because you FEEL tired does not mean Gatorade will wake you up from being sleepy and the like.

CenetaurmanE52 - June 14, 2008 03:47 AM (GMT)
At Starz: Like I say about working out: You know you've had a good workout when you feel like you're going to faint or explode.
At Marx: I don't like gatorade anyways. I prefer water, a quick shot of soda, orange juice, or I just rest a bit.
Forute. Till The End - June 14, 2008 03:58 AM (GMT)
Another form of excercise is looking up a few stances for a martial art, get into that stance, and hold it for as long as you can. Not only will you be busy burning energy trying to maintain the stance, but it also helps develop your muscles without them growing bulky, and can also develop flexibility. The best ones to try might be ones that use muscles close to the stomach.
CenetaurmanE52 - June 14, 2008 04:24 AM (GMT)
I approve of Forute's suggestion.
And from what I've heard...if you can't go outside, Wii Fit actually does a good job for exercising and Yoga (I've played some of it, it's pretty damn cool). Problem is that you'll spend at least 330 bucks for that and the Wii...
Forute. Till The End - June 14, 2008 04:28 AM (GMT)
Still, a Wii is a good choice.
Thank j00 for the approval. I myself prefer what I've seen of Yin Style Ba Gua and a bit of Northern Praying Mantis.
CenetaurmanE52 - June 14, 2008 04:36 AM (GMT)
Ok, here's what Wii Fit offers in case you're curious
15 Yoga poses (8 of which I can't do)
15 strength training exercises (which taught me that Jackknives are easy and that I can't do a real push-up)
Hula-Hooping (which is very good for you in 5 minuts for both ways)
Rythmn Boxing (which made me sweat hard...good sign)
Basic Step, Advance Step, and Free step (semi-dancing, but it''s really easy, doesn't make you look like a retard, and burns a bit of fat)
Jogging (which I can't keep up for very long, but it's great for burning fat)
9 balance games, including Meditation (which I do once a day now)
EDIT: I forgot to mention that it acts as a scale too. And it's really accurate, it helps you set goals, it has tips, the Boxing trainer is freaking awesome...actually, if you have the money, Wii Fit can act as your own gym!
Marx - June 15, 2008 12:59 PM (GMT)
Actualy a small shot of soda isn't too bad if you're about to go for a run, because the sugar will quickly burn off after a while jump starting your body's energy. However don't over do it on the soda!
As for the karate stances, I agree, I take karate (Tang-So-Do) and I'll tell you the horse stance is a killer on your legs!
CenetaurmanE52 - June 15, 2008 05:00 PM (GMT)
Is Hapikido as easy as it looks?
pacman+ - June 24, 2008 01:19 PM (GMT)
Once school rolls around, if you really want to be well conditioned, join the wrestling team.
Marx - June 27, 2008 12:16 AM (GMT)
Ooh, Wrestling team, that'll whip anyone into shape.
However, I still belive running/walking is the #1 exercise that can get you in shape quickly.
