Title: How do robots sled?
Description: Badly...
Chaos Wolf - June 10, 2008 01:01 AM (GMT)
Jump Jump, Slide Slide, Slide SliJump Jump *Beeo beoo beooo*
I have recently started up Megaman 8 with the intent to beat it, but I have been having the hardest time with Wily Stage one. it is a nightmare of a stage.
What are the worst of the worst megaman deathtraps in your guys opinion.
Marl Duothimir - June 10, 2008 01:55 AM (GMT)
God...damn...disappearing blocks...
You guys should know what I'm talking about.
Forute. Till The End - June 10, 2008 01:56 AM (GMT)
The screw-ups when you're sliding on the board for MegaMan 8. Occasionally, you'd have jumped or slid too late so that even when you made it, you gave yourself a bit less recovery time, which meant that you couldn't jump/slide again and fell to your doom.
Overall, I'd have to say the spikes are the worst, especially when you're in a room full of them and you have to make the platform-to-platform jump with enemies hounding you.

Yes. Yes my friend.
I did all the blocks in Iceman's stage that day...

At least these games aren't as bad as Megman X6...

I gained some new and improoved colourful words when I played Volt Kraken's stage in X5.

Giant laser beams of death, anyone?

Don't remind me...
And spikes!
Protoman-EXE - June 10, 2008 01:59 PM (GMT)
A matter of fact, I'm stuck on that same stage. ¬_¬ Stinkin' slides of death leading to the fortress-o-doom. Grr... It's defiantly a pain, that's for sure. It also gets my vote for the worst traps, because I've been playing MM games since I was around six, so I've had around nine years of playing experience. I've mastered disappearing blocks, I can hurdle those spikes, wait for giant laser beams, BUT THOSE DANG SLIDES! So yeah, slides gets my vote!
STARZ - June 10, 2008 04:12 PM (GMT)
I always died on the disappearing blocks, with a bunch of spikes under them. There's one in Rockman and Forte I think. After awhile, I just said screw it and used Treble. So cheap, but at least I didn't kill anyone.."
Liquid-Snake - June 10, 2008 08:22 PM (GMT)
Is MMX5's Sigma Stage 1 even possible without Dark Hold? I tried a few times, and made it to the same spot every time, but couldn't make it. Anyone else been able to do it?

I've seen someone do it in the Gaea suit (remember...slower then the rest and NO SPECIAL WEAPONS)
I can do it, but it takes me a few tries.
Iga - June 11, 2008 03:43 PM (GMT)
Wily Boss #4 from MM2, the "security system" one. That one teaches you efficiency. That miniboss in Split Musrhooms stage, that one always gave me trouble. The beam part in X5 is entirely possible without Dark Hold, but as a side effect you may gain a foul(or even worse depending on the player) mouth because of it. Megaman X6, 'nuff said. Those are a few decent examples.
A word of advice for Wily Stage 1 in MM8: Whenever you can, push yourself as far to the left as possible. When you reach the end of a platform, jump forward and hold to the right. As soon as you land, push back to the left again until it's time to jump. Really that's the only way I've known how to do it(and it gave me years of trouble, so you can take my word for it).

Jumpjumpslideslide
Is nothing compared to lazers.
dododododooodododoodobedo
BEWO WOO WOO WOO.
Makenshi - June 12, 2008 03:33 AM (GMT)
Oh, it took around 50 tries to get past the laser beams in X5 without the Dark Hold, but that's because I don't even use special weapons outside of boss battles so I wasn't even aware that I could have used it until later.
Gauntlet101010 - June 12, 2008 04:46 AM (GMT)
I finished Frostman's stage today. I dread Wily 1. You know, those jump jump slide lide things wouldn't be so bad if they didn't talk. I felt compelled to jump after the second time they say to jump! Annoying ...
And, if it just me, or do you not always jump when you press the jump button?
On the up side, they refill your weapons if you die. Plesant surprise.
However, I'm still MUCH more annoyed by the flying skull in MM7.
Chaos Wolf - June 12, 2008 04:51 AM (GMT)
Well, I beat Megaman 8 today. First time for everything huh.
As for a tip, Iga is more or less dead on when it comes to Wily 1. But also, I have found that "Astro Crush" freezes Megaman in the air. This can come in hand in the end of the stage, where literally it starts to become JumpJumpJumpJumpJumpJump.
Akutare - June 12, 2008 02:39 PM (GMT)
Wily's stage in Megaman 8 use to give alot of trouble when I first got it. Forstmas's stage took some practice.
Iga - June 12, 2008 05:20 PM (GMT)
And as for a later boss after that stage, when you're on the Rush Jet again, you want to try and stay very close to the right. If you're not quick, you won't make it around an S-curve and you have no choice but to die.

Ha, that's me too.
Spitfire - June 15, 2008 10:10 PM (GMT)
I don't know why nobody has brought this up yet, but two words:
Gutsman.
Platforms.
Light - June 15, 2008 11:27 PM (GMT)
Only four words...
I. HATE. FROSTMAN'S. STAGE.
Seriously, I don't know HOW many times I died before I actually GOT to him and beat him! GAAH...
Elec Man's stage was a pain in the butt for me, too. Damn little ground moving things whatever-they're-called...
Raijin - June 15, 2008 11:29 PM (GMT)
Light - June 15, 2008 11:30 PM (GMT)
Is that what they're called? o_o Sorry, never got to the enemies names except for Metools...
CenetaurmanE52 - June 15, 2008 11:42 PM (GMT)
Frostman's stage is an S.O.B the first time, but once you get that, it becomes so much easier IMO.

That's actually one of the easiest parts in the game for me.
Iceman's stage, on the other hand...
Spitfire - June 16, 2008 12:21 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I hate that Iceman stage too. The majority of my time is spent trying to do the dumb blocks. I turned off the game the first time because of frustration.
CenetaurmanE52 - June 16, 2008 12:57 AM (GMT)
Fireman's stage...
Arg...damn missles...
Spitfire - June 16, 2008 01:00 AM (GMT)
Sorry, I haven't been to Fireman's stage in so long that I haven't remembered it.
I'm very sorry if you're having problems, though.
Light - June 16, 2008 03:35 AM (GMT)
Why does Flash Man's stage hate me so much!? Sure, he's easy to beat, but his stage... Good grief!
Spitfire - June 16, 2008 01:11 PM (GMT)
I remember when Flash Man hated me once, but it wasn't the stage. The console suddenly turned off in the middle of the stage.
Light - June 19, 2008 01:46 PM (GMT)
Flash Man: HAHAHAHA! Try to beat me NOW, kid! >D
On the subject...
Mega Man Powered Up: Fire Man's stage. Hard Mode. DAMN MISSLES.
Still Mega Man Powered Up: Guts Man's stage. Hard Mode. DAMN PLATFORMS.
Spitfire - June 19, 2008 03:09 PM (GMT)
The Guts Man platforms were there since the original. And so were the Fire Man missles. Arg.
Akutare - June 19, 2008 03:16 PM (GMT)
The Gutsman platforms took me some time ot get past. Mainly the last line of the platform area.
Gauntlet101010 - June 19, 2008 05:41 PM (GMT)
But there's a lot more of those platforms in Powered Up. They're really annoying there.
Akutare - June 19, 2008 05:57 PM (GMT)
Plus the fact you make make a level willed with them is the more fun and revengeful thing to do.
Chaos Wolf - June 19, 2008 06:03 PM (GMT)
Gutsman can defeat those platforms for one of the powered up paths, since there are spikes on the ground instead of a pit, he can spawn the blocks and just walk across.
