Title: LFL Stats
Description: Found a way to keep stats if interested
JMcGrathSince82 - April 2, 2008 09:34 PM (GMT)
Jim and I were scrimmaging today and I was using my slim roster fantasy team I created. During any game with a fantasy team, the stats are not kept. However - as soon as Jim quit - I was able to view stats for the entire game. That being said - if a game is in hand in the last 30 seconds - should we have the loser quit and the winner can do a recap and do stats for key players for both teams?
Just a thought that could spice this up for everyone.
Justin

Yeah... or you could both just pause the game, and get your stats that way. Then the loser could quit and bail out while the winner writes the recap.
JMcGrathSince82 - April 2, 2008 09:40 PM (GMT)
Once the loser quits he/she does not get to review the stats I do not believe. The winner would be left to do the stats/recap. It's a little more work but I think it'd add a lot.
trusion09 - April 2, 2008 09:59 PM (GMT)
Sounds like a plan. I guess if the loser forgets to quit, then the winner can quit hopefully remember why they are quitting and they can take down stats. Hopefully there is no quitting at the same time :scared
P.S what was Jim doing quitting in the 1st place :rofl2(1):
kevinmack - April 2, 2008 10:05 PM (GMT)
Should we just stop the clock with say 5 seconds left. Then the Loser can write down his stats.
I would hate it for You guys to always have to write my stats for me :D
That rule should be if your down by more than 1 score. Since anything can happen with that final play...

You can't view stats during hte game...period. If you quit you can't see stats, period. The only person that can see stats is the person that remains int he game and "continues vs cpu". That's the person that would be responsible for stats.

:rage: he was whoopin my duker horse! lol jk
I told him before hand Id play a half against him because he was all about trying out his new fantasy team. Some weird stuff tho...I used Denver against his team and it threw my roster out of whack. Tom Nalen was my KR...#78 was my punter. Rod Smith was in at SS. Warrick Holdman was my HB. Brandon Stokely was rated a 0

There's no way I can keep stats for another league.
I've got to think about whether or not I can even keep doing MPL stats for another season.
JMcGrathSince82 - April 2, 2008 10:41 PM (GMT)
what if someone (me) volunteered to pay for leaguedaddy? could everyone commit to making this work and doing the stats? It's a lot to ask of the winner of the game - but if they're interested i'd like to be able to have stats - i feel it could really add to the experience of our games.
superpunk - April 2, 2008 10:52 PM (GMT)
I would absolutely agree to that.
Almost everyone in this league was diligent about entering their stats in MPL.
But I don't think there's any way we could make this a requirement. We'd just have to strongly encourage people to participate.
I thought about doing the same thing for the MPL for next season.
cowboy925 - April 2, 2008 11:07 PM (GMT)
Why don't we just have everyone record their stats after the game? Why should someone have to quit for the player to record stats, except for the fact some people don't pay attention at the end and just leave the game immediately. Then the stats, like in the MPL, will be optional and just recommended that you do them.
JMcGrathSince82 - April 2, 2008 11:07 PM (GMT)
Will everyone chime in on this so I know if I should get us a LD setup?

yea when i was using the raiders against mcgraths created team it did that too i had like lechler as my 4th wr and someone else as a punter or something cuz he couldnt punt the ball farther then 30 yards, and i forgot some was rated 0 too... but yea thats how i get to do my recaps when people leave before the game ends or right when the game is over cuz u can also see the replays of the games... :D

If you just send the game like you would normally, you get no stats...no player stats or game stats. I have no idea why...just another hole created by EA

If that's something you want to set up, I have no problem with it but people can't be required to enter stats...either in the LFL or MPL. You'd have to guage how many people would quit early so the stats can be taken. And how many games do you think there will be where 1 team is far enough ahead to concede?
Neversatisfied - April 2, 2008 11:50 PM (GMT)
I have no problem entering stats in LD.
superpunk - April 3, 2008 01:53 AM (GMT)
I've got to be honest, tho. I don't see the LD thing being very successful for LFL. I have no doubt that we'll have alot of close games.

I do think this would be a GREAT thing for the MPL, tho. ;)
I think the LD membership is something like 12 dollars per month. I was planning on purchasing it for the upcoming season, but we're gonna be having my wife quit her job to stay home, so that takes away many thousands of dollars per year, lol.
houtz - April 4, 2008 02:52 AM (GMT)
Yeah the MPL should get a LD. It's hands down the best league out there why not make it even better?
Not to mention how much easier is that then making SP do all the work on a spreadsheet. I congratulate him for sticking with it all season long. onthehouse

While this is a topic for LFL, I will comment on the MPL suggestion for LD.
It's a free league so we'd never have people pay for it. If somebody would be kind enough to donate a year of LD, then I would accept that donation...however the other stipulation would be that we wouldnt require members to enter stats. That's just one of those staples of the MPL that will remain.
kevinmack - April 4, 2008 07:18 PM (GMT)
I have a ton of hosting Space for my websites like www.GotLocalMusic.com www.StuPodasso.com www.NorCalBooking.com
So if someone can create what LD does, we can host it on my servers...
That might be better than 12.95 a month or 99 a year.
And once we have an App, we can use it for MPL, Any-PL, what ever...
just an idea...
Any Programmers out there? Or where can we buy the application and upload it to my GoDaddy hosting account?

Um, to create an LD type of site you have to really know programming...I dont have that kind of extensive knowledge. Thanks tho Kev
JMcGrathSince82 - April 4, 2008 08:48 PM (GMT)
I could program it but it'd take a good amount of time. If you want I can start coding and see where it takes me.
kevinmack - April 4, 2008 09:21 PM (GMT)
I found a PHP/MySQL Script... i tried to do what the Readme.txt said. But that didnt seem to work.
Trying to create a MySQL DB. but not sure what to do after that... Trying to get my Web guy to help out.
If anybody else knows how to install and config this... give it a try...

You can't pause the game and get stats. There are NONE.

I'll pay for Leaguedaddy, no problem. But why get LD if we can't keep stats? I'll pay tho if thats what everyone wants. Let me know.
Obmij76 - April 6, 2008 02:25 AM (GMT)
No LD for this league...really it's a waste of money. Chances are, most games will be close enough where people won't want to quit before the horn sounds. And Tam, it's not pausing and getting stats....to get stats, one person must quit the game and the other play must choose to continue the game against the CPU. THEN stats can be recorded for the game.
houtz - April 6, 2008 01:26 PM (GMT)
A LD for the MPL would be great. The LFL, not so much.
MMTAMI26 - April 9, 2008 01:57 PM (GMT)
I would be MORE THAN HAPPY to copy down all stats for both me AND my opponent.
