Title: Most watched BG clip
Description: which clips do you look at the most
ISLANDER - April 5, 2007 06:47 PM (GMT)
This is for all us "addicts and lost causes" let us see which clip you watch the most.
One of my favourites is when Helen has just caught Nikki in the library with Caroline. When Nikki goes to leave and looks back, and Helen tells her to be careful. :)
jenni07 - April 5, 2007 07:41 PM (GMT)
mine has to be them getting together in "comming out" when helen says "thomas is gorgeous, he is everything you could want in a man... but i want a woman." its the best bit and i watch it over and over and over.
greengirl - April 5, 2007 08:50 PM (GMT)
My favorite is when Helen just started the lifers' meetings, and she walks in and says good morning, and tells the girls what the meetings are for, and that she wants them to fill out this little questionnaire about their experiences -- Shell mouths off and says, "Since you're working for us, miss, how bout getting us a rasie, say 100 quid a week?" and the girls laugh and Nikki snaps at her, "stupid tart -- shut it" and Helen gives her the eye and says, "Why don't you do the same, Nikki?"
But the best part is a few minutes later, after Helen talks about how they're all at different stages in their sentences, she says something about the goal being "to look at your offending behavior" (and here she manages to catch Nikki's eye, totally by accident, and they have this moment, in front of everyone) and then she freezes like a deer in headlights and can't remember what she was about to say -- Nikki blushes and smiles and looks down, and then Helen can continue.... It's such a sweet, funny, poignant bit of "what it's like when everything's new and you're in love," like in any other relationship -- when one person's not a con and the other a prison worker -- and I love it!!!
Plus there's Nikki's slightly naughty devilish look that Mandana does SOOO well...
(sigh)
But, Islander, for the record, I've watched s2 ep16 probably 6 times on DVD and the edited love scene about 15 additional times (it's my gf's favorite) and the unedited love scene (from the outtakes video and/or on YouTube) another 20 times...25, maybe? What can I say...I told ya I was a lost cause!

greengirl - April 5, 2007 09:07 PM (GMT)
My other favorite is when Nikki's at the bars, after Helen rescues Zandra from the roof, and Nikki's all bright-eyed and totally open, and says, "Helen.....you were fabulous up there...and I've got to tell you, I'm totally in love with you, and there's nothing I can do about it."
It's a magical moment, and I swear it's the light in her beautiful almond eyes that gets me every time...(swoon)...but it's also how her character, Nikki, has managed to keep optimism and hope and romance alive in her heart. She's naive, almost, because she somehow thinks love conquers all and that bollocks, but she's so vulnerable and hopeful that you really want her to be right!
But the best part of this scene is the outtakes, when Mandana can't remember her line. I like to believe it's because she was caught up, just for a second, in the emotion that Nikki was feeling for Helen. It doesn't mean she's "really" a lesbian, or bisexual, or any of that, but rather that she's a superb actress who goes that extra bit to FEEL her character. (There's my fantasy intervening again -- sorry, Mandana!) It makes the scene that got on tape seem all the more touching, to me.
southernkiwi - April 5, 2007 11:43 PM (GMT)
I'm not going to admit to being an addict or a lost cause, but I'm going to post anyway! :P :D
The scenes when Helen has put in Nikki in solitary...the whole 'why are you doing this? Can't you see what you're doing to me?' thing...firstly because they're really quite powerful scenes, and secondly because they both look gorgeous. :)
And the 'shit happens' scene, and the first snog.
Oh, and the one with Nikki and Julie in the garden shed with their tops off, 'We were just having a quick feel, miss!' LOL! Love it! Cracks me up every time. :D

I'm glad fer this thread simply cause it's interestin' ta read whut SK likes about thuh show... by time I got here most of the fans on board here had moved past thuh fanatic stage and I missed thar thoughts on thuh show...so very neat to hear SK on thuh subject :D

Wow what a great response, Hey GG you are spot on with what you say. And yes they are some of my other favourites also. Especially the one at the bars in the out takes. It some how feels too real for you to think they are acting.
The chemistry between Mandana and Simone(sorry Hetane) is so overwhelming it's hard to think they were acting.
And as for the out take of the love scene, so glad they added that just think what we would have missed. Suppose it was a bit to much for tv.
And Hetane your naughty :lol

One of my favorite clips has already been mentioned by GG. It's the scene where Mandana can't remember her line(at the bars). I'd like to think simone's touch of mandana's forehead, just before she was about to say her line, triggered the all thing during the second take. Her eyes shut for a split second was enough to blur her memory for a short while. It feels to me as if simone was as well caught up in the emotion that Helen was, this time, feeling for Nikki.
My second one's got be the scene at the canteen where Nikki stands next to Zandra who says something like "just give us some hot water". After being served, Nikki turns round and bumps into helen, and says "watch where ya... sorry!". The look in Helen's face, priceless. Love it.

ISLANDER - April 7, 2007 08:48 PM (GMT)
Another right near the begining, nikki is in her dressing gown. She has just been for a shower and Helen is trying to break down her defences. (Re drugs) then the powerful scene in her room when she is searched and then blames Helen for it. I found that really hard hitting and emotional.

Oh, SKiwi, I can't believe you like the 'Shit happens' scene! Me and my Boo are trying to come up with our least-favorite lines ever, and that always tops the list. (sorry)
But I want to go back and watch the first season for the bits when Helen sends her to solitary (d'you know which episode?) -- I don't remember those exactly, and I like anything "powerful" -- and the scene with Julie cracks me up too! :D
I also have to admit to a more shallow fave -- when Nikki's changing, in the scene with Babs... (I've done screen captures for the whole sequence, and one of the best shots is my screen saver on my phone, tee hee...) I don't know if they used a body double, but whoever it was, she has a lovely figure!
CJ, what an astute observation about the touch; I didn't remember that, and it makes perfect sense. Could you tell me which episode (or at least which series) had the scene with Zandra and Helen? It sounds priceless.
And one last morsel....although not a "favorite," I really enjoyed the bits with Nikki and Yvonne, when Yvonne is going through her dry spell; Nikki basically suggests that she try a romance on the inside, and Yvonne snorts and dismisses the idea, "You haven't got the tackle!" Then, with the same mischievous look I adore, Nikki replies, "You sure about that?"
(swoon)

Hi GG
The touch scene is in the out takes in series 2
Maybe we could also use your "least favourite lines" in here also?
I don't think Mandana would have used a body double, she was into the character to much. She said in an interview that they spent a lot of time getting the chemistry just right and i don't see how they could do that and use a body double. Plus she has nothing to hide with a body like that
Series 1 episode one has nikki in solitary and also in series 2 episode 2 after fenner throws her books about and Nikki hits dominic. Then Nikki wants Helen to admit they love each other, but Helen is still in denial. Love the line when Helen visits Nikki in solitary and Nikki say's" At least when Fenner fancies a con, he has the courage to give her one"
Hope this helps

Islander, thanks.. I meant this one, though (see above).
I am quite familiar with the outtakes from series 2. Love 'em, love 'em...
This is also one of my favorite lines: " At least when Fenner fancies a con, he has the courage to give her one"
Although I must admit, I didn't know the word was "courage" until I got the BG book. :)

Oh, that's all right. I'm perfectly used to being the odd one out when it comes to things like this. But it's a good snog they have in that scene, you gotta admit. ;)

That's the scenes in solitary I was meaning....all those interactions between Nikki and Helen. :) Was it in the 'shit happens' ep? Sheesh, it's been so long since I've actually watched any of BG, I can't remember what's what...how pathetic am I? lol

I think it was in "shit happens" SK cause it's just after that scene she transfers her.
Hey GG what did you think the word was if not courage?
I've been trying to come up with others i like, i think the scene when Helen helps Denni's mum up when bodybag is taking the p... The look on Nikki's face was priceless.

Well, Islander, that's what confused me... I thought it was "balls," 'cept it didn't sound like "balls".... I thought maybe "nads," same idea...then I thought maybe it was some more lovely Brit slang that *means* balls, so I was looking it up to see what it might have been -- and by then, I had purchased the series 2 DVDs so I was able to watch it over and over, but I still couldn't catch that word!
The mystery was finally solved when I got the BG book and it had that quote.

P.S. Your lil' avatar is a gem! My Boo's favorite pictures are the ones of Mandana and Simone from that night.
ISLANDER - April 15, 2007 08:58 AM (GMT)
GG you crack me up :rofl
Somehow it doesn't have the same feel to me(at least when Fenner fancies a con, he has the BALLS to give her one) Nah But i suppose yes he would have the equipment if you get my meaning :lol
Glad you like the avatar we try to please. But i would have to go a long way to beat yours. :P

I'm going to add another one, but come on CJ where you bin girl lets hear from you?
One of the other clips i like is just after Helen comes back, after the bust up with sean She gets Nikki in the office. Nikki is so happy, but Helen still won't admit her feelings. Nikki say's "why can't you tell me, i mean something to you"
I think that this a really lovely scene where Nikki is still putting her heart on the line. But Helen is still letting her head rule her heart.

You know, Islander, I just watched that episode again yesterday and was struck by the parallel to later
**spoiler**
**don't read if you haven't watched thru s. 2 ep. 13**
when Nikki says "Tell me you love me..." She's always been asking for the same confirmation that they're on the same page (even if in completely different books); that Helen feels something for her that goes beyond responsibility.

ISLANDER - April 21, 2007 06:56 PM (GMT)
Wow you certainly have a knack of finding the most profound meaning for a clip GG i totally agree.
But must admit i would not have thought of this.

:D Just can't find time to post anything, ISLANDER.
I'd add one more then. The scene in series 2 episode 6 when Helen comes to visit Nikki. I like the way Nikki stares at Helen(look of love) before Helen says to her "i missed you Nikki"
ISLANDER - April 27, 2007 09:35 PM (GMT)
I thought it was about time i came up with another.
I like the scene where Nikki get's fenner alone after he has assaulted Helen, and she said "shell had a way with a bottle just like me" To me it proved how much she loves Helen that she would do anything to get back at anyone who had harmed her. To be so in love you would do anything for that person!
hetane - April 28, 2007 01:48 AM (GMT)
I've been-a thinkin' bout thuh scene where Nikki and Helen are headed back ta Larkhall frum Helen's house and Nikki quips that she must look like Dusty Springfield's ugly sister in that wig. First, there is NOOOOO way MJ could look ugly in any way shape or form (and what a nice form she has,eh? :P )...but I've jes' bought me ah best of Dusty Springfield CD (she is fantastic) and I got ah-little curious 'bout DS's biography so I researched on thuh net and come ta find out thar plannin' ah movie 'bout DS. Now, thar talkin' catin' it wit Kristin Chenoweth who is a mighty fine Broadway actress and cain sing up ah storm but why not CAST MJ????? She could do it. Dangitall...I wanna volunteer muh services as MJ's agent, dangitall...what's thuh matter over thar...git them agents a new-un or somethin' as they's missin' all these castin' opportunities I'm ah comin' up with. Dingdang-dangitall!!!

Islander,
Just wanted to drop a note that I also love the scene with the Fenner confrontation -- you can FEEL her fury at him, in every moment, and how hard it is for her to contain herself. (Big change from flying across the servery counter at Shell in season 1!) Nikki keeps looking at that bottle on the table and you can tell he's sh**ting himself, but trying to keep from totally losing it.
It was actually one of the very few moments in the entire series when I felt sorry for Fenner. Nikki is not the sort you want mad at you!

tkay - July 20, 2007 01:12 AM (GMT)
One of my favorite scenes is during the lockup after Renee Williams' death - - Helen goes in to Nikki's cell when Nikki is napping and Babs is fixing tea for the screws. I love the camera angle from behind Helen following her into the cell and then the way she brushes Nikki's cheek when she's sleeping - - the tenderness gets me every time. Just a quiet moment when Helen can let her feelings show.
greengirl - July 25, 2007 03:51 PM (GMT)
You're right, tkay, that's a very sweet scene... She wakes with a start, as though she was having a bad dream.

tkay - July 25, 2007 04:22 PM (GMT)
Yeah, GG, I watched series 4 too. I really wish Mandana was in it, though. The rest of the series is not anywhere near as good as the first three seasons. Granted I am incredibly prejudiced in favor of HRG. Anyway.......back to wishing. :hug2
