I wish I had seen POWERS. I think it says a lot about the woman, Mandana, that she found it important to do a children's show. Children's television and especially children's theatre is a second class citizen here in the states, so to see a quality actress take on such a role, bravo to Mandana.

I also noticed when she and Simone are goofing during the SA trailer Mandana mentions something like,"it's a bit like being on Blue Peter..."
She says it with total respect.

And in the pics of the movie (was it Coming up for Air?) anyway at the end of the pics you have posted and her character (Sarah?) is sitting with the lead's kids in the boat Mandana beams and is quite endearing looking with the kids.

I bet she "gets" kids. Very rare in an actress.

Just another reason to like the gal,eh?

The Powers series was a very respectably produced children's series with a nice blend of characters and storylines within the limits of a 25 minute episode.Mandana certainly has that rapport with children and, while the child actors were inevitably and capably 'out front', Mandana has that knack for acting within the 'middle ground'.
I have loved 'Coming up for Air' for a rather mysterious gentleness about it and, in contrast to the scientific slant of her character in 'powers' there was a mystical quality in CUFA.

Thanks for the insight into the show, Richard. I am such an advocate for children's rights that when I see a great actress giing her gifts to children's shows, be it on telly or stage or film, I am just sold on that performer. But I really saw the respect for kids in Mandana when she was so sweet in her voice on the SA Trailer when she said "it's a bit like being on Blue Peter..." It was so sweetly said that I researched Blue Peter. Being from the US I didn't know what it was.

I also thought she was very considerate of children when in another interview ( another one on the BG DVD's) she's speaking of swimming laps in a pool and a mother recognized her even with her swimming "gogs". The mother says her son watches the show, BG and Mandana says the child was rather little. Mandana was a bit surprised that one so young would be watching. Mandana was not at all judgemental in her assessment simply aware of age appropriate veiwing. It was quite sweet actually and showed consideration for children, even respect of them.

So, thanks for letting me now about POWERS, Richard and I can't wait to see CUFA.
