Author Ransom - books we had read to us as children, and I still love to read them today!

Dan Brown's books are brilliant.
The Da Vinci Code is by far the best. I've read that one, Digital Fortress and Angels and Demons. I'm currently reading the last one, Deception Point :)

I did enjoy Da Vinci Code, and managed to read it before all the hype took hold! Otherwise I find I can't enjoy a book in the same way.

I've got the others, and have to admit found them much hard going. I just don't think he quite got the same flow in his writing as the Da Vinci Code - but they were readable nevertheless.

Having talked about Modesty Blaise on the thread about Mandana Roles, I've found myself reading those.

I've also just managed to get some books from the mother in law, I haven't had a chance to go through them properly yet, but Tom Bradby The Master of Rain is one I've noticed and so will probably tackle next. I haven't read any of his books before but he is supposed to be pretty good.

I didn't manage to read DaVinci Code before all the hype. I was just determined to read it before I saw the film. And I must say, the film was a huge disappointment. The book had way too much detail in it to actually be considered for film, I think.

And I agree about the less flow in the other books too. I read DaVinci in about a week and have been reading Deception Point for about 2 weeks now and am not even half way through. I just can't get into it like I did with the others.

like dan brown da vinci and also angels and demons. but the others couldnt get into at all!!
i love thrillers and especially female writers, but find patrica cornwall has gone downhill fast!! i wonder if this is the same writer as i read her newer stuff its so bad. but her early works are good.
i also like kathy reichs. and karin slaughter, who i find is a lot darker in style that kr and pc, but is still a great writer. i'm still waiting to read fractured and her new book is out next year sometime.
