Have just got back from a trip to the cinema to see the new film of the C S Lewis book. Loving the book as I do and having seen the wonderful stage adaptation at the Leeds Playhouse last Christmas I had just a little trepidation before we left. This was mainly because hyped well publicised films can sometimes be a let down.

Not this one - Wow! It was absolutely fantastic, superb and absolutely gripping at times pinning you in your seat. The young actors and actreses playing the children were excellent especially the girl playing the youngest - Lucy. Aslam was portrayed brilliantly but for me the character of Mr Beaver played with humour and a super accent (was voiced by Ray Winstone) was the star which seemed to amuse some people..........................

If you enjoy the Narnia stories - you will love this, bring on the next in the series.

I just saw it too! I haven't read it for year, but I all my fragmented memories started coming together. I loved it!

Did anyone else think that the white witch reminded them of the borg queen?

So. Cool. Which borg queen? (2 actresses have played her, Alice Krige and Susanna Thompson)

Oooh, I thought the girl that played Lucy was awesome. They all did a really good job.

I too have just seen the film and thought it was fantastic! The young actors were very talented. I loved the tv version that was shown about 1989 or so. Only critisism would be that I wasn't too keen on Tilta Swindon as the white witch. The one from the tv series was much scarier, but that could just be because I was younger then! A great film though, kept very close to the book. Very Happy

I thought the white witch was good - certainly one poor kid was so upset they had to be taken out of the cinema and no doubt the poor bugger is now scarred for life.

Alice Krieg.
I much prefer Susanna Thompson though... especially in DS9 when she kisses Dax
