Title: Time for a transformation?

Shinigami-X - December 20, 2004 08:07 PM (GMT)
Hey guys! I'm finally back from my long period of inactivity. I've been browsing through the forums and... didn't see much happening. XD Anyway, that is soon to change. I'm finishing up one of my tutorials this week and should have it finished by the Non-Denominal Winter Solstice Holiday!!!! (for some of you, Christmas) I've also tried to invite a handful of newbie artists, but don't know if they'll actually join.

Other than that, I'm glad to be back! *bows* Please take care of me for another period of time!

I was planning on actually doing something, =P Now that my computer's back to running condition and I have free time, I'm finishing up one of my tutorials.

EDIT: I'm starting to hate the tutorial I'm making. =_= But I will post it still. The only problem right now is cleaning it up. So many scribbles. O_o

There's another thing I wanted to get off my mind. I've been browsing through a few drawing styles and wanted to know if any of you wanted a certain style. So far, I've seen two styles that work well in both a serious and a comedic style.

The first one is from Ragnarok, by Myung-Jin Lee. He's a Korean comic artist that uses complex designs and story to bring out the power of his work. I'll have a few images of his style linked at the bottom of this post in a moment.

The second style I found very popular and handy is one many people are familiar with. CLAMP's style uses basic shapes in a way that is pleasing to the eyes. Not knowing it, they exaggerate the human body in a way to play with the human mind; a common technique used by many manga artists but rarely pulled off so subliminally. If you don't believe me, just look at drawings from a few of their different stories. You might see what I mean.

I'll look into both styles, but whichever gets more votes, I'll study. From this, I'll try to identify major differences in that artist's or artists' style and break it down so that it is easier for us. For this, I'll need to know where I can post, Natzandcatz. Whether or not I continue is all up to the response I get. If you do find that what I'm doing isn't such a good thing, just tell me and I'll stop. It's all up to all of you now. ^^
