Title: The Faces of CLAMP
Description: Eyes, noses, and facial structure

Before we begin, I'd like to say that I made this tutorial assuming you have some experience in drawing manga style. This is mainly for the basics such as emotions, poses, and basic techniques.

One thing to think about when trying to emulate a certain style is the eyes. Not only do they provide a more clean look to the style, but they complement it by the way they show emotion. Imagine CLAMP's gothic style using the big round eyes found in Pokemon. Awkward isn't it?

One thing to keep in mind when doing CLAMP is that they keep their eyes very linear. Look at how the lines are drawn. Instead of one smooth line, it consists of many straighter lines with a slight curve at some points. The key to a CLAMP style eye is that the top eyelid is usually slightly thicker than the bottom. Doing so creates the illusion of depth within the eyes. Also, the eyebrows complement the shape of the upper eyelid.

Also, here is a common eye-type found not only with the villains, but also the dark heroes of CLAMP. Take a look at most of the characters from X/1999 and Kurogane from Tsubasa. They have narrow eyes which consist of basically three lines (one at the top and two at the bottom). Their facial structure is usually sharper than most others'.

Facial Structure and Nose

Many people have the problem with the facial structure of CLAMP. I've noticed that many of their works have the jaw line at the mouth's level. This creates the effect of realism. Also, line width, not curves, is used to show the contours on the face. The nose is a bit longer and not as wide when seen in 3/4 profile.

Here, I've drawn three profiles. The first is the average anime face and the last two are CLAMP faces. The major difference is in the nose length and shape. You'll see it better in the next section.

Another key point to look at is the view from the side of the face. The slope of the bottom of the nose is usually steeper, giving a slightly more elegant look. Also, they put varying line widths to use in the tip of the nose, the jaw, and the lips.

More faces from a 3/4 profile. Again, they make use of the varying line widths. Also make note of the shape of the nose. Slightly longer than in usual manga. The ears are also simple lines with varying width as seen in the center profile.

The female faces of CLAMP are usually meant to be elegant. Rarely do you see a lady with a rugged broad face (if even at all). The shape of their chin is sharper than the male's, the neck is a bit longer, and the ear is slightly smaller.

I noticed that I completely forgot about the front-views, but hopefully you can figure it out from the tips I've given above.
