Title: New parking changes

Many of you know we've been trying to simplify the parking at the fairgrounds. We've got some changes this year that we hope will be positive steps toward accomplishing this.

This year we've added a 6 ft. chainlink fence alongside the southside of the roadway from Gate 2 which is the second gate on Fairground road. This fence runs from Fairground road all the way to the rodeo arena. This will be the general admission entrance for parking. Gates 1 and 3 (the back gate on Rodeo Drive) will be Exhibitor Pass Only gates. The parking lots associated with gates 1 and 3 will require at least one occupant of the vehicle to posses an Exhibitor Pass. Gate 1 will be utilized by livestock exhibitors, exhibitors in the Commercial Barn and staff. Gate 3 will be utilized by livestock exhibitors and staff in the Creative Arts (EHC) building. Everyone not possessing an Exhibitor Pass will be directed to gate 2 and the General Admission parking lot.

You'll be able to drive directly into Gate 2 and into the parking area and park in a marked space as you would do in a shopping center lot. The admission ticket booth will be located central to the Midway on Midway Drive where the carnival camp has normally been located. The carnival camp will be located on the far west end of the Midway along the Rodeo arena perimeter fence. The drive on the west end will be closed to through traffic.

We hope this setup will simplify and take the stress out of entering and leaving the fairgrounds.

What about handicap parking? We were at the fair last year helping at an exhibit. My spose needs to use a wheel chair and we found it impossible to get around the fair grounds with the wheel chair. Maybe one of the motorized chairs with the balloon tires would get around but a regular wheel chair that you have to push is useless there.

We're designating the parking area against the fence on either side of the admission booth for handicapped. We have a lot of improvements on our wish list. We have the buildings where they can be entered more easily than ever before......we'd like to pave our handicap parking area and add a paved sidewalk from the parking area across the midway and then wide sidewalks connecting all the buildings.
We would sure accept some direction in searching for grant money for a project like this.
