Here’s the opportunity for everyone who missed the full 2-hour plus version of The Importance of Being Earnest at The Ouachita Little Theatre (OLT) to see it in its one-hour Arkansas state American Association of Community Theater (AACT) Arkansas state championship-winning format. This Friday night, April 3rd, at 7:30 PM at the Mena Middle School Auditorium, on Mena Street , it will be performed again, in addition to musical performances by top local entertainers.
Included in the entertainment will be the very popular Mena High School Jazz Band; nationally-known singer, James Tarver; Nashville recording artist Michelle White; travelling rock band Seventh Wave; and several songs from the cast of OLT’s upcoming play, Camelot. Tickets are $8.00 available at the door 45 minutes before the performance.
This concert and play performance are the primary fundraiser to send the OLT to compete in Texas for the regional community theater championship. In order to be able to make the trip, the 13 person OLT team of 8 actors and 5 crew members, needs to raise around $3,000.00.
As a result of winning the AACT state championship competition on March 14th, OLT will compete on behalf of Arkansas against the winning community theaters from 5 other states, Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Texas, and New Mexico. The competition will occur over a three day period from April 16-19 in Kerrville , Texas . OLT is on the schedule to compete on Saturday April 18th. In addition to the Friday night concert, OLT is going to provide a grand, theater-wide yard sale at the home of Rita and Herbert Smith, at 505 Mountain View Drive , this Saturday, April 4th all day, 8:00 AM to till 5:00 PM.
