Scotto - May 14, 2009 05:38 PM (GMT)
Try the Phoenix cafe, Grumpy's or Yummies.
tomjoad - May 14, 2009 05:53 PM (GMT)
Do any of them have good Western omlets? I ate at the Phoenix once, and the cigarette smoke liked to have killed me.
two dogs - May 14, 2009 06:25 PM (GMT)
They don't allow smoking in the phoenix cafe or anyother cafe in arkansas!
northinkcitizen - May 14, 2009 07:34 PM (GMT)

and sides that i'm all ready grumpy in the morn why would i join anyonelse in that condition (my misery does not love company)
tomjoad - May 14, 2009 08:02 PM (GMT)
Well, I guess the cigarette smoke doesn't know not to drift from the cash register area back to the eating area at the Phoenix.
curiousquestions - May 14, 2009 08:06 PM (GMT)
I heard today that the previous manager of the Skyline was not looking to re-open. Don't know if that is true or not. Said she was having a tough time making ends meet (just like the rest of us).
tomjoad - May 14, 2009 08:19 PM (GMT)
That is bad, bad news. The Skyline was always on my list of places to take out of town guests, for a bit of local flavor. Along with the pyramid place down by Sulphur Springs.
zenhorsemanship - May 14, 2009 08:31 PM (GMT)
My vote's with Yummies or if you want to head down towards Cove - Grandpa's
northinkcitizen - May 14, 2009 08:38 PM (GMT)
bummer that was the only place that kept my coffee cup full the teenie boppers at the other place don't seem to know how to do that

mommyof3 - May 14, 2009 11:46 PM (GMT)

Since state law passed quite awhile that smoking was not allowed in any facility that served food, it must have been quite a time since you had breakfast at ANY restaurant here.
tomjoad - May 15, 2009 01:56 AM (GMT)
Thank all of y'all for defining my reality. I'm sure all of y'all were there when I was. You all must've been in the bathroom, because I don't recall the place being that crowded.
sunarab - May 15, 2009 02:04 AM (GMT)
Someone tell us where the Phoenix is located. Never heard of it. I always go to grumpy's its close and a habit due to nothing else close by. Dont like Yummies breakfast.

Yes, the law was passed, but that doesn't mean it's being obeyed.
tomjoad - May 15, 2009 02:29 AM (GMT)
You got that right. If everybody obeyed the laws, there would be a beaucoup of state troopers pawning their radar guns, and heading down to the dept. of workforce services.

It is at the Cherry Hill store.

A friend of mine took me to yummies for breakfast. We ordered our eggs over med. The waitress brought the plates to the table ,the eggs were burnt. The whites were brown and I mean dark brown . Welcome to yuckies .
All I could think of was maybe their cook was out and had a sub cook. Maybe the cook had a real bad morning . I not sure .
My friend said to the waitress oh my these eggs are over done .The waitress smile and walked away. I told my friend just smile back . Poor thing I am sure she had a few other complaints .

sorry you had a bad experience at Yummies....we have eaten there many times and usually order breakfast, which you can have at any time of the day.. Only one time was our eggs cooked wrong and all we had to do was mention it to the waitress and she had the cook cook us more....they were not burnt but a little too undercooked.... that is the only time we have had to have them redo an order....they have the best pancakes in town...the breakfast special is very reasonable and you can have it any time of the day also...the omelet (with everthing) was very good also.....Try it again, maybe you had a substitute cook.... :thumb:

That is true and I always believe in second chances.
curiousquestions - May 15, 2009 03:25 PM (GMT)
Hey just found out that they are trying to re-open the Skyline! The manager didn't want to but then the owner decided to sell the building to the manager and if she can swing the financing then she will re-model or re-locate depending on the extent of the damage. Hope they get it all worked out.
Focus - May 15, 2009 05:38 PM (GMT)
Fantastic news, curious!! :yip:  :yip:
Hope she can put in some outdoor tables for smokers, too. :thumb:
tomjoad - May 15, 2009 08:19 PM (GMT)
A sidewalk bistro, in Mena, shazaam. Would the waitresses wear berets? Would they be required to be rude? Would the smokers be required to smoke Galoshes, or whatever that Fransh cigarette is? Would they have to sit with their legs crossed when smoking/drinking their cafe au lait? Just messin' with you.

It's a little ways out on US270/US59 but the Rich Mountain Store serves up a good breakfast.
