Title: I make websites
Description: web and graphic design

jonrf - May 23, 2009 07:35 AM (GMT)
I am posting this as was suggested.

I can design or modify websites. I can make logos and artwork, etc. I work with video and illustration and I can convert various file formats. I can make custom sites from scratch or use a content management system (CMS) to suit any need quickly. I am familiar with HTML, Java, JavaScript, some PHP, and CSS.

I have an unlimited hosting plan so hosting is free. I would charge only what I design and you would have to cover registering the site's domain name or keep it active yourself afterwards. Websites usually are a complicated thing. And over the years, I have learned the best ways to make it easier. I can offer big city design on a small town budget.

Here are some of the site's I have made:
http://www.nefco.aero
http://www.domaintek.com
http://homefinancing.info

Here are the sites that I am working on or started:
http://www.jonrf.com <-- my personal site
http://www.technologycontent.com (site demo - there's no content yet)

I can also set up secure logons for custom or private use:
password protected directory - http://www.technologycontent.com/admin
advanced login system - http://www.domaintek.com/admin

PM me if you have any further questions or are interested in a estimate.

I forgot to mention, I can help with secure server and SSL certificate setup as well... good for online stores and internal login and/or secured communications.

I am trying to also expand my artwork and design skills into my website designs.

My personal website is relatively new and has only been running for some months now. I consider it my testing ground where I try out different things like custom cursors and layout tricks (e.g. the spinning tag sphere that has a custom background. I recently found a way to have my site send SMS text messages (really plain text e-mails to a gateway address) with a simple form on a page. But, I took it down so everyone doesn't use it to send spam. In other words, I have to add a "captcha" code generator to the system to keep out spam bots or keep it in a protected folder.

Thank you for your comment. I had several comment my work in the thread under General Discussion for a weather page I made for my dad's business, http://wx.nefco.aero/index.html#panel.

His site is the earliest site I made that is still online. I made a few others while I worked for a sign company and my mother's site never was marketed and she got tired of spending money on it. With most of the new sites I made, I use a content management platform where I add content to and change the layout and the look-and-feel of the templates I own. But that's some of the things I do.

All of my dad's site and parts of my site (artwork page, links page, about page) are completely done in a text editor from scratch. But I do copy some of my own original stuff here and then.

And I am tinkering with my own ad banner rotator script (and social bookmarking script that I wrote completely from scratch. If you notice, the same bookmark add this toolbar is used on multiple sites. I really wanted to know how it worked and to make a secure and private way on my own without some third-party piece of software where security and privacy are a potential concern. I am a member of the Norton Safe Web (https://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=jonrf.com) and my sites are safe and secure.

Again, I thank you for your comment and have a pleasant Memorial Day :D

The site is awesome. I am actually using it for my weather maps as a active desktop item. BUT there is one flaw in your site. It is not very handy with people with slower connections. I had my friend go on there with his net zero dial up and it took a good while to load the page. I have cable so there is no problem at all with it running on my computer. Thanks again for the site though. It is perfect for me. I like to keep a really good eye out on the weather. Also, I might need someone in a couple of weeks to help create a site for my company. Are you up for it?

Sure. I would be glad to help out. I am aware of the slow page loading for dialup. I as I have told others, I will make a 'simplified' version of the page.

I will be making a few different versions of the page. I will simplify one and optimize it for low bandwidth for all those who do not live in town or have a broadband connection. I will have a button or tab to switch between simple and advance views with auto collapsing link section(s). I'm still working on the concept I have in my head for the layout and design. For the one for my personal site I will remove alot of the space on the top and match it with my theme I am using. I will probally be adding some more controls and develop the widget for the solar monitor panel (you can see the two links that are placeholders for future buttons to control which satellite view is shown). I would possibly offer the few widgets I have made in the future or add it as a download in some free section someday. I want to make more blog plugins and widgets as time goes on and offer other free stuff or links to *good* free software.

I am glad you like my weather page. If I ever have the time to work some AJAX or JSON together with the Weather Channel feeds to make my own current weather web application. I have the Weather Channel SDK somewhere for that.

That sounds awesome! You know I wish there was an actual storm chasing game. I would never leave my computer. lol

Do you live in mena?

Yes, I live in town.

The tornado that swept through town was number 3 for the close and personal ones in my life. One I just happen to drive past. One I happened to find (chase) and when I got there it was just a small debris field (which I weaved through logs and sticks with my old car but I saw no visible funnel. And this last one I saw on the radar and then with my own two eyes. Someday, I like to draw what I saw - after the dust settles with all the recovery. So yes, I like to chase a few storms although rarely.

You know, I never heard of a game concept quite like that. I haven't tried to program Flash and I need some work with 3D modelling... so I'm almost worthless as a game designer, but that's an interesting idea none the less - you can have it where the user determines the proper conditions and then make a journey to the area. The person can look at synthesized radars and lightning detectors to guess where the tornado will touch down. It would be cool if they can take snapshots or videos of the storms and save the renders as jpeg's.

I was at Wendys when the tornado hit. I slowly watched it swoop up onto our area. I just couldn't help myself but to stare. I felt like helen hunt. I just couldn't look away. I wanted more. I went to school for 2 years for meteorology. I wish I had more skills with Studio 8 and Flash Max. I sent Unisoft and Microsoft a message relating my ideas. I am thinking about next year of joining the twister sisters on an adventure. Actually, I wish I was with the vortex 2 crew at the moment. That is one of my life goals and dream.

It would be really neat if in the game you can choose which vehicle you want to be. You would have the choice of the dopplar, chaser, lead, or something like the cabose that leads out all of the important information. Sometimes within the game there would be a random tornado drop somewhere near by and then you would have to out race it by maneuvering through dirt roads and ofcourse other traffic. Also in the game, there could be a mission to drop "dorothys" of at the damage path. WOW I could have soo much fun making this game. :newlmao:
