I just got an 8-month-old Yorkie, and would love to have her trained or learn how to train her myself. Just reading what I read on that site makes it sound so simple.

Positive reinforcement is always best. We get many dogs like the one described in the excerpt but many of them come out of that fear because we talk to them not threatened them. One trainer suggests using the phrase "uh uh" rather than "no". I have tried it on my dog and it works and she was 6 when I first tried it.
We have an obedience class going on right now but there's only 2 classes left. She is talking about having another one in the fall when it cools down. Call me at the shelter Tuesday 394-5682. I'll see if I can get more info for you.
