Now I know why Mitch doesn't answer my voice mail messages. :D :tease:

Voice Mail Replacement?

Mitchell - July 9, 2009 05:09 PM (GMT)
Wow, that hits surprisingly close to home! It's not that we don't want to listen to our messages, but it takes time to sit down and do that. If I'm with a customer here in my store, I'm not going to pick up a ringing phone. This person came all the way down to my store to talk to me, I think it would be rude to pick up the phone. Especially if it's one of those "Hey dude, what's going on?" kind of calls. And after the customer in my store leaves, I'm either with another customer, answering another call, working on their computer, stepping out to run a call, or checking my email. I admit, it does take me sometimes two or three days to check my messages. (Usually after someone has told me "hey, you know your voice mailbox is full?") Whereas, I respond to a text message within seconds or an email (or a feedback from the form on my website) within minutes. I very rarely have time to be on the forum anymore, so PMs may go unread for a week or more. It's not that I don't care or don't want your business, it's just that voice mail is decidedly inconvenient!

What was it Jerry Seinfeld said? "I love my answering machine. The only problem is, it only works for the phone, not when somebody sees me when I'm walking down the street. I wish I could say, 'I'm sorry, Jerry's not here right now. Please leave a message.' And just walk away. That would be nice."

  That Seinfeld line is a good one. :D

That article was really enlightening, though. I had been kind of suspecting that scenario all along, but that surely confirmed it.
I've also learned in the past few months that if I really need to reach you quickly that I should just email you, as you have stated.
I'm thrilled to know you are staying busy, Mitch, and hoping it's paying off for you. :thumb:
