Title: Tornado Benefit and Fish fry
Description: We need the straight scoop

There is going to be a concert at the Mena Elks Lodge-Saturday the 15th of Aug. The reason I'm bringing this to light is because the posters being put up are mis-leading. The band that is playing is the Hippie Holler Band from Malvern. They are a really good band and are always doing benefits for people and when they heard about the tornado, they came over and looked for themselves and decided to do this concert. They only stipulated that the money go to help the needs of everyone and figured the Elks would be the best organization to do this. They sent a press-pack over and unfortunatly the wrong poster was used to advertise this event. They had sent a poster that is normally used to advertise this type of event but somehow the posters were printed showing other bands and would give the impression that other bands might also be there. The posters are really vague and do not convey the proper intent. I hape everyone will show up and support this cause. The Hippie Holler Band is a great band. They play a mix of country-rock I would compare their sound to JJ Cale orJohn Prine. They are going to a lot of trouble and are inviting friends from all over the state to attend. I hope that the people of Mena will show up in kind. I'm not sure who is really in charge of this event to get all the details but hopefully I can get that info and make sure the newspaper does some kind of coverage. I would hate to see a poor turnout especially if a lot of people are coming from other areas in support.

I believe they start serving at 5 pm and the band starts at 9 pm. I have heard that the plates cost 10 dollars but don't hold me to it. :dunno:

The band was great. I had played with them over at Hot Springs and thought they were really good. I hope that the Elks asks them back. Maybe they could have a local bike rally and get them to play. Spearhead it Sling!!!!!
