The Humane Society of the Ouachitas is happy to announce that they have received a $10,000 grant from PetSmart Charities to assist in spay/neuter surgery for an estimated 200 – 400 pets in Polk County. The Spay/Neuter Assistance Program, or SNAP, will assist those who could otherwise not afford spay/neuter surgery for their pets in this tough economy.

Since we only schedule clinics with Arkansans for Animals every other month, this money will be allotted to clinics through Sept, 2010.

SNAP Applications will be made available at the shelter, Union Bank, the County Welfare Office, RMCC, the Unemployment Office, and Fabulous Finds. The next clinic is scheduled for September 8-10, 2009. Appointments are now being made for our upcoming clinic, Sept 8th thru Sept 10th. Pick up an application and mail it back to HSO even if you don't think you qualify. You may be surprised. If your appointment has already been scheduled, send one in anyway. It will be reviewed and you will be notified as to whether or not you qualify.
