At Hwy 71 and Reine they are installing cameras or somthing just like the ones downtown. What are they?

they were put there for you because you speed around town...next time they will mail you a ticket! BUSTED! :newlmao: (just kidding!)

Those are Ark Transportation Dept version of a "presence detector". Some areas use "traffic loops" cut into the pavement, but that would entail assuring the pavement is constantly maintained. which is a pain with the amount of rainfall we get annually.
Notice the one for northbound 7th at 71 is a little off. You have to hug the centerline and pull up across the limit line for it to register.

Danville, Ca. had a problem with their intersection cameras. Caught a lady's Mercedes running a red light. Mailed her a ticket along with the photo showing her car with the license plate readable.
Her husband's mistress was driving the car in the photo

To me they look like "Presumptions of Guilt" . The cover story of them being traffic sensors to "save cost" gets pretty far-fetched when I look at the costs being incurred to install them at intersections that already have the old style wires cut into the pavement. Perhaps the best way to know for sure their real purpose is to find out who paid for them. If the city paid, I'd guess they are for traffic flow. If the state installed them I'd be suspicious. If the Feds put them up, they are almost assuredly for tracking your every move. We, the PEOPLE, need to get together and decide whether we feel comfortable with a government tracking our every move. Some call that "Tyranny", but the tyrants say "No, it isn't", so who are ya gonna believe?

Jeez, Louise. Talk about paranoid. CW has a bad case.
Mark - August 22, 2009 02:02 PM (GMT)
Aren't they really to trigger the changing of the lights and traffic flow?

Well they have had the camera's at Main and 71 for how long now? Has anyone recieved a ticket yet in via the mail? I cant believe that as long as they have been there that no one single person was speeding or ran a red light. But then again I have been wrong many times before. Maybe we should all be like CW and be paranoid, after all so much is going on around here that the feds need to know about and track us. Esp those old folks that drive us all nuts when they are out on the streets driving. Heck fire the other day I saw that there were 5 Hispanics working on the concrete work around the pole, maybe its Mexico keeping an eye on us Arkies!!
