Title: Choctaw Labor Day Festival

Timberghost - September 5, 2009 06:19 PM (GMT)
Last night the festival kicked off in Tuskahoma. The annual event draws thousands yearly and admission is free along with the entertainment. Last nights performers were Wynonna Judd, and Billy Currington. Tonight beginning at 6:00pm will be The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Neal McCoy and Gretchen Wilson.. The locals like to call the annual event "Chocstock"..

Just thought I'd pass this along for those interested. Tuskahoma is the Capitol of the Choctaw Nation and is located 20 miles south of Talihina.

The Choctaw Festival has grown huge. A sea of people come for the Saturday evening concerts.

Several years ago I saw Lynn Anderson sing at the Friday night concert. She stayed and signed autographs after the show.

George Jones was there on a Saturday night. I gave up and left. It got too crowded.

The Choctaw Festival also includes: Native American dance competition, arts and crafts sales, junk food vendors, and a carnival.

I've been wanting to attend that festival for years now, but I never know when it's going to happen!

Can someone give us a few days' notice before the next one occurs?
