Title: Pyramids in Shady?
Scotto - September 19, 2009 01:19 AM (GMT)
Is it true that there are a couple small pyramids in the Shady area?
I heard they were hidden back in the woods someplace, and pre-date the Heavener Runestone.
Anyone know about this? They said the landowners keep people out of there.

I don't know about Shady, but there's a half a dozen of them between Big Fork and Sulphur Springs, a few miles north of the highway, out in the woods. All different colors, too.
They were there when I moved here almost 30 years ago.

When you say pyramids, are you referring to mounds built by Native Americans or Stone Pyramids like in Mexico and South America?

The ones I know of and saw were built with lumber, I'm pretty sure.

They are A-frame type cabins. The locals call them "the Pyramids".

I've been there. Its just houses someone built in the shape of pyramids. I don't believe there is any interesting history to them. They used to belong to Dallas Purcell , thats who owned them years ago when I was there. He may still have them but I don't know.
