Here are some pictures I took this summer in North Dakota. The scenery is starkly beautiful and quite different from the scenery in Mena. All pictures were taken in McHenry and Ward Counties in North Dakota. I adjusted the levels in some of the photos and cropped them, but they are otherwise unaltered. I assume it's OK to post these here (the pictures of the Smokies were great) so enjoy!

I've been to ND.. and I loved your photos . My grandfather had a place there in the early 1900s... and we visited the place.. sparce trees...mostly cottonwoods down by the creek. There was 2 treeless buttes (flat topped hills) that dominated the landscape. Was nice , in a sorta Andrew Wyeth like look.. but I do prefer trees. Plus in ND there are blizzards with not many trees to slow down the swirling snow ...BRRRRRrrr

In this part of North Dakota, what we would call "hollows" in Polk County are called "coulees". These pictures were taken in a river valley. The areas that are not near rivers are quite flat.
